I almost feel bad writing this review. Back story: In high school, I used to come here to buy running sneakers. Everyone was always very helpful and made sure to sell me a pair that were PERFECT for my feet. Selection is a bit limited considering it’s a small store that only sells one particular type of shoe. Regardless, I like supporting local businesses, especially because you’ll find the kind of expertise at Runners Stop that you just won’t get at corporate anything. Back in 2010, 5 stars easy. Last visit date: 8÷25÷2015 Having not been here in years, I felt a bit nostalgic walking in. The store was empty and there was a guy behind the register. I say hello, he says hello back very surprised. There is a customer in your store, what are you surprised about? Anyways, I scanned the(very small) selection of shoes for a few minutes. This guy makes zero attempt to help me and continues to go about his own thing. What happened to the super enthusiastic running experts that used to work here? I almost felt awkward because of how quiet it was. So I leave and head to the mall and buy a pair of sneakers there. Maybe I just went on a bad day? Maybe I’m just a snob when it comes to customer service? I’ll come back in 6 months when my new running sneakers are worn out and hopefully update this review.

I was having major problems with each pair of sneakers I bought, kept getting blisters. A friend recommended coming here and after telling the manager my problem and walking on the floor, she selected a couple sneakers. Not only did they fit perfectly she showed me a different technique of lacing the sneakers. Now not one blister no matter how long the run!!! I am going back for another pair!

A total running shop, from the great selection to knowledgable staff to their running a bus to and from NYC marathon every year. They really care about running and runners. I took my son there and the salesperson really worked with him to make sure the shoes we picked were the right ones and met his needs.

Great store. They’ve got all the essentials and more. I ran here to get a new set of gloves and was surprised by the selection they had. Everything was fairly priced and the staff was friendly. Will come back next time i need new running shoes.

One of the best running shoe stores on Long Island. Excellent and knowledgeable staff that cares a lot about getting you just the right pair of shoes, from a wide selection. They also have all the accessories you need, including gels and nutrition items and a good array of running clothes.

I went back for a runner’s shirt. I found the shirt online for cheaper and explained that to the owner and she discounted the price for me! How cool is that! In addition to that, she had an amazing conversation with me about a runner’s club in the area(BGR) and explained how she frequently give discounts to the members. I had an amazing experience and I appreciated the owner’s willingness to be open in sharing her running stories with me and giving me a fair discount. Will definitely return!

Have to disagree with previous poster. Maybe an isolated incident. This store offers a wealth of information for runners. The staff will spend as much time as you need to get you the right shoes. If you need group support, you can run or walk with the Tuesday night group. The store supports many charitable organizations, keeps you in the loop of what’s happening in the running community. Probably the only independent proactive business in Lynbrook

Flashback: — Did high school sports — Ran in any sneakers my parents bought me — Athletic like a boss Flashforward: — Still do sports — Not athletic anymore — GF signs us up for a 5k So the gf signs us up for a 5k. I think, hey this is going to be fun. I buy a pair of good Asics online that were on sale. Ends up I hate them and they hurt my feet. A few folks tell me that I probably have sneakers that aren’t right for me. I was told to go to Jack Rabbit in Union Sq in the city. They put you on a treadmill and analyze your running or something like that to pair you with the perfect running sneakers. I learn about Runners Stop when a client tells me that they do the same thing. I get to Runners Stop. The girl working there is helping a mom out who is buying sneakers for her two young children. I patiently wait for her to come over. I tell her how I want to buy sneakers, that I don’t know anything about sneakers or running, and that I don’t like the ones I’m wearing(I wore the ones I bought online so that they could see what type of shoe I already had). She asks me what type of arch I have. I say I don’t know. She looks at me for a second and says she thinks I have flat feet and that I would need arch support. She goes and gets two pairs of sneakers. One of them is actually the same exact sneakers I’m wearing(the ones I got online that I hate). I ask her if they are the same ones(cause I didn’t want to assume). She realizes they are and says yes, but that it’s more of a neutral shoe without much arch support and that the others she brought will be better. Why did she bring them out then if they are the same sneaker and have less arch support when she specifically said I needed more arch support. I try the others and another pair she brings out, but they all feel the same to me and she’s not really being very helpful. Not sure if she just didn’t know how to fit someone with sneakers, didn’t want to help me, or just wanted to focus on the mom with kids. In any case, Runners Stop lost a sale today because they seemed disinterested and couldn’t set themselves apart from a general sporting goods store. I shop online for convenience. The one thing a brick and mortar store can provide that most websites can’t is expertise and it was not to be found here.
