I had been going to Dr. Hahn regularly for my high blood pressure before I moved to a different city 4 years ago. He was only Korean speaking doctor I knew in area at the time and I only had to see Dr. Hahn to get the prescription for my high boold pressure. Recently I have been having some side effects when my current doctor increased a dosage of my medication. I had similar side effects 4 years ago when Dr. Hahn changed my prescription on my last doctor’s visit with Dr. Hahn. It turned out that new added pill was too strong for me. When I mentioned this, my current doctor wanted to know the name of that pill so I called Dr. Hahn’s office Dr. Hahn told me to get the name of the medication from a pharmacy where I picked up my prescription since he didn’t want to go though clients’ files to look for my record. I called again to talk to a receptionist again and she was not able to read Dr. Hahn’s handwriting so she gave my file to Dr. Hahn and transferred my call. Dr. Hahn told me the name of the medicine from my record in obviously annoyed voice and when I tried to double check if that was the prescription from my last visit, he told me that he was busy and hung up the phone on me. I didn’t ask him to go through all my record or anything, I just wanted to get the name of the medication that he put on my prescription on my last visit! If he was busy, he should have ask the receptionist to take my number down and return my call later or mail/fax the record to my current doctor’s office! Frustrated, I called again to make sure if the name of the medication he metioned was the one that gave me the side effects. I asked Dr. Hahn if it was wrong for a patient to ask for his/her record when needed and Dr Hahn told me that I was asking for something too far back and he is busy. Told me once more to go to a pharmacy where I picked up my medication. I don’t remember which pharmacy I went to 4 years ago but I know who gave me the prescription and under the MD state law, doctors should keep the records of their patients for at least 5 years. I was asking for my record from 4 years ago and not 40 years ago! Am I not allow to ask for my record just because I am not a current patient??? I would never recommend Dr. Hahn to anyone! If you are a current patient, get all your record before you move.
