I have mixed emotions about the Lufkin K-Mart. I live in Houston and it has been almost 15 years since K-Mart pulled out of the Houston-area market. In fact, the Lufkin and Longview K-Marts are the only two in the eastern half of the State of Texas. Anyhow the store is an older store that was last updated probably in the 1990s when K-Mart switched to the«Big K» format. Since then the store has been left to languish, and in a way is like stepping back in time to the 1970s/1980s Kmart stores of my childhood — the only thing missing is the blinking blue light that was moved around from department to department to denote a special. Price wise, Kmart seems to be more expensive than Target or Walmart. Given that little money has been spent on refreshing the store or the image, its not hard to see why Sears/Kmart corp is having problems attracting customers. The problems with the Lufkin Kmart I think are more or less representative of the problems that exist with the stores company wide. The cashiers always seem friendly and the pharmacy staff have always been nice.

I love that we have a Kmart. They have everything I need and it is so much easier to get in and out than going to WalMart.

Would be a 5 star other than customer service! JUDY at check out was rude when I was only making sure my items were being rang up at sale prices! She didn’t even have the decency to look up at me and explain to me the way things were being discounted! I love Kmart and they are far and few between but with service like this I think I will pass this Kmart up next time and spend my money at target!
