Tired of the boring, mass produced, watered down Dunkin Donuts mediocrity machine, I set my sites on a more local option. I am so glad a did. The coffee is excellent. My order comes out accurate. The donuts are LARGER, FRESHER, and BETTER in both TASTE and CONSISTENCY. If it is an option, put your money in your neighborhood Top Donut.

Love their sugar raised donuts. Can definitely taste the difference compared to the big donut chain around! Service has been pretty good both times I have visited. Will be back for more!

Like their donuts but can never find glazed sticks. Last visit the employee let another customer take the last two I asked for, and he gave me wrong donuts.

Another great local chain. Donuts are fantastic. Tea is excellent and the coffee is great too. The bagels are a bit lacking vs other local options(Java’s Brewin comes to mind). These are all cash only but usually have an ATM inside. This location is the very best place for AM people-watching. It is a gathering place for locals and you get to meet lots of interesting people.

Really good donuts and breakfast sandwiches. Really great coffee and a nice selection of flavors. A little tricky to maneuver into parking lot. They only accept cash(smart to avoid fees). I’ve gone back multiple times(always in the morning) and haven’t been disappointed yet.

I went out of my way to visit this place, as I have yet to find a true donut shop in New England, of the Los Angeles tradition, meaning, Cambodian-owned or prepared as Cambodians are hands-down the best donut makers in the world. I found the place on Unilocal, and sure enough there were Cambodians in the kitchen(I speak conversational Cambodian). I didn’t talk to them. I was in too big a hurry to eat and get home. OK. So, I was a bit disappointed. Now, it might have been because it was in the afternoon, which is NEVER a good time to eat donuts if you want them fresh. I had an apple crueller. I’m sorry, but my teeth almost fell out after one bite. It wasn’t hard, mind you. It was sweet. Too sweet. I mean, I don’t think I have ever tasted a pastry as sweet as that. EVER. So, if you want a diabetic coma, then go there. I’m not likely going to return again for fear I’ll lose all my teeth in one sitting.

Yum. I stop by here every time I’m in the area. They have the lightest, fluffiest donuts I’ve had in a while. I actually kinda prefer them to dunkin’s. I love getting their nice, hot glazed donuts. Makes life a little bit better.

Very good breakfast pastries and donuts. For the price and size of items, you can’t beat it! Coffee is not the best but it is not bad either. Good to stop in when you want to switch from Dunks once in a while. Drive through is quick which is good when you’re in a hurry. They only accept cash so bring money!

It’s a little tricky to maneuver in and out of(considering the abundance of traffic on Aiken Ave), but you’ll be happy you did. Driving into the lot, you’ll notice plenty of parking for customers. It’s adjacent to the parking for the local playground/baseball park/basketball grounds. I’ve come to this location for YEARS. There are a number of things that Top Donut is known for. and each one is delicious and freshly baked. My absolute favorite baked goods are the blueberry muffins(always moist and scrumptious) and the chocolate coconut donuts(crispy and flaky on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside). The Irish Crème that’s served at each Top Donut location is also really good– that is if you like your coffee extremely sweet(like I do). Moreover, the breakfast sandwiches are generously sized and, although they get a final nuking in the microwave, are great for the price you pay. DEFINITELYTHE spot to go for quick, on-the-go treats while you’re on «the other side of the river.» Oh, and bring cash!

Great donut shop just across the bridge from the Spinners’ stadium. Much better selection than DD, and so much easier to get in and out of. The iced coffee is great, and still tastes like coffee(rather than sweet creamer) even with cream and sugar. Even if it’s your first time in, you’ll feel like you’ve been coming for years.

Best donuts in the Merrimack Valley. There are NO bad choices so the rest is personal taste. I love the blueberry cake, apple fritter, and the old fashioned. Top Donut doesn’t skimp on glaze, fillings, sprinkles, frosting, etc on any of the donuts. The breakfast sandwhi he’s are very good despite being given a final nuking in the microwave before serving. Clean and friendly prompt service. The one in Lawrence is no where near as good as Aiken.

Apple fritter is by far is the best I’ve ever had. Great coffee selections, donuts, and fresh breakfast sandwiches. Their apple, lemon, and raspberry squares are huge. All are cash only and no tip required.

So sick and tired of wanting a nice donut and getting crap from Dunkin’s so wanted to try a local donut place. Happen to be driving by on my way to class when I noticed Top Donut. Bought a chocolate buttercrunch donut that was delicious. Also got a large chocolate chip cookie that was a little too well done. I mainly came for donut though(and that was great) so I only took off 1 star for cookie.

Before I start, there’s something I’ve got to get off my chest: Top Donut makes the best apple fritter I’ve had anywhere, ever. It’s the richest, greasiest, most glazed donut-related object I’ve swallowed, an all-hands-on-deck, nutrition-be-damned celebration of everything that’s right about fried dough in all its forms. That said, here’s my actual review: If you found it on any street corner in Los Angeles, Top Donut would be utterly unremarkable. It’s the classic California donut experience, from the beautiful glaze-mongering, Dunkin-defying butterflied shape of their old-fashioned donuts(which you can get glazed, chocolate frosted, or maple frosted, in true West Coast fashion) to the cheery, strawberry and chocolate-frosted raised offerings. Most of the time, when I’m there, there are even, in the truest Californian style, remarkably friendly ladies behind the counter talking among themselves in Vietnamese. And, of course, there’s that ungodly apple fritter, which nobody else back East has even come close to approximating. The thing that makes Top astonishing, and which earns it five stars, is that it’s nowhere near the Golden State. It’s in Lowell, which is about as far from California as you can get, both literally and figuratively. I have no idea how they’ve managed to avoid New England Donut Syndrome for so long, but I absolutely could not be more pleased that they’ve done so.
