We were traveling through MA when my husband’s sandal broke. He had no other shoes with him. We found Arthur Poitras on the Unilocal page and went right there. His staff fixed the sandal in 30 minutes and the charge was very fair. They just don’t make ‘em like this anymore.

I have been there twice. first time I went there for new pad/​protectors of the heels. The pad changing was done quick and well.
However, the second time I went there made me decide not going any more. I waited 1 month to get a loose heel fixed, although he said it should be done in 1 week. When I had the shoe back, the heel is fasten but it is much higher than the other heel of the pair, and the look is totally ruined. I never wear that pair of shoes anymore…

Went in for a shine before an interview. Took all of 2 minutes and the shoes came out looking like new! And the price! Might as well have been free.

This dude rules! He’s this guy who you can tell has been doing shoes all his life. He’s always at work on his machines in the back corner, his fingers black from the work. He’s got that quirky grandpa humor and a twinkle in his eyes. His wife does some of the hand sewing and works the front counter most of the time. She’s a crazy, cool lady too.
I thought the work they did for the prices they charge to be extremely fair. I decided to get some boots repaired instead of buying new ones, and they replaced the zipper for $ 20. I also had a button closure come off a pair of mary janes, and they charged me $ 10 for that (it involved opening up the leather and messing around with elastics apparently).
I’d recommend you give them a try if you’re thinking about getting shoes or boots repaired. Or even just go in for a consultation — they’ll tell you how much it should cost.
