It’s Friday night. It’s a blizzard so I can’t drive down to Brighton for the party I’m supposed to go to, so what am I to do? I know! I’ll trudge through the snow to that liquor store around the corner and get myself some wine to keep me warm! Well, that’s exactly what I did. The wine selection at this store is not great, but this is the only liquor store within walking distance of my apartment so it would have to do. I was looking for zinfandel. Not white zinfandel, mind you, which barely qualifies as wine in my book, but real red zinfandel. After walking up and down the two small aisles of wine numerous times, I asked at the counter. One cashier didn’t seem to know there was such a thing as a non-white zinfandel. The other cashier directed me back to the white zinfandel area where there were a couple bottles of red zinfandel hiding. Score! Again, the wine selection is not great here, but they’ve got pretty much all the standards. Chardonnay, cabernet, etc. Just don’t go in there expecting to find some rare vintage. The liquor selection is similar in that they only have the«famous» labels, so if you’re into some obscure brand, look elsewhere. Oh, and I think I saw a small sign at the counter that said $ 10 minimum for debit/credit cards. Just a forewarning before you show up without cash.
