Couldn’t get service at a counter service restaurant. If the cook has to cook and take orders that’s a little much for one guy. Here’s an ideal hire someone to work the counter and then the cook can cook and customers aren’t waiting 15 – 20 minutes to be acknowledged.

The Mahi tacos were great, and they had Margaritas! What a great place on a summer night. So glad that we gave them a try!

Just 2 stars in my opinion. Burritos are good and the various styles allows you to pick a preference but overall the quality seems lacking in comparison to some of the others in town. Guacamole was very good as was the queso. Parking lot and patio are dirty with trash, grease stains, and cigarettes. Large portions but nothing special in taste. Probably will not return.

TIP: sign up for the text alerts! SO worth it. This was the first restaurant recommendation I received when I moved to Louisville a year ago. I’m so sad it took me this long to eat here! I lived in LA for a few years and this place easily rivals the best taquerias there. The food is delicious(I got street style tacos with ribeye), the service was amazing and so friendly, and that bourbon rita was KILLER. GOHERE!

Love love love love this place! The food is authentic and amazing. Staff is friendly and the food is presented very quickly at your table. Nice small dining room so you can hang out as a group but not so small they you feel really close to another table. The food is really fresh and has the same amazing quality every time I go! The vile taqueria gets a YAS queen from me!!!

Why am I just finding out about this place? If it were on Frankfort Ave or in Highlands you wouldn’t be able to get in the door. Its the best food I’ve had since living in Mexico briefly years ago. The salsas alone are worth it, I especially enjoyed the jalepeno salsa. We went Friday night at 7 pm — plenty of indoor and out door seating. Music(DJ) started about 8. Fabulous margaritas and bourbonritas. The queso was very good although could’ve been a hotter. Authentic chips, not too salty. There is a salsa bar — try them all, no charge if you eat in. I had 2 street style tacos(yum fresh cilantro) one tilapia, one prime rib, both delicious. My guy had the Logan burrito with al pastor pork. He thoroughly enjoyed it. They forgot the pork at first but fixed it with great efficiency and a free serving of more chips. We are both very full and importantly, delighted. Friendly and efficient staff. I like being able to walk somewhere on a weekend and get a great table outside and great food with no drama or waiting but I hope more people try this wonderful place so it stays in business.

We’ve been to the Ville Taqueria a number of times, and each & every time, I have been impressed! We usually end up going because they text you deals every once in a while(if you so choose), and I can’t pass up a good 20% off my entire meal. It’s about the same pricing as a Qdoba or Chipotle, but with far superior food! Plus, they have absolutely delicious and inexpensive margaritas! They have a great orange citrus flavor to them, and they are hands down one of the best margaritas in the city! On the night we went this past week, they had $ 5 margaritas and a DJ to jam out to on the patio. I only needed one marg, and they were absolutely worth it! As far as food, essentially you pick your style of tacos, burritos, quesadillas or tortas then add meat. They also have seafood and vegetable fillings for those so inclined. I’ve gotten both the al pastor and the chorizo and found that both are fabulous. However, I personally favor the chorizo. It has the same texture of ground beef but with a lot more flavor. Speaking of ground beef, it’s the one meat that they appear to be lacking. It may not be a traditional offering, but I do think that ground beef appeals to a larger crowd(especially the kiddos), and it would be a great addition to the menu. I’ve always found their food to be very fresh tasting, and I love that they offer a variety of hot sauces to go with your meal. It adds an extra zest to your food. Chips are considered an extra(boo!), but they do have excellent guacamole and queso verde! The patio is a great place to hang out in the spring and summer months, and the service is usually fast and reliable. You should definitely seek out this hidden gem the next time you crave convenient and delicious Mexican food.

Really terrific. If they made their own chips, it would take this place to a whole new level. Can definitely taste the freshness of their ingredients.

I’ll reiterate my tip in case you missed it — call ahead to make sure they’re open. Twice this weekend we arrived, ready to eat, only to learn that they’re not keeping their posted hours of operation. Friday we waited, but yesterday we went elsewhere. The restaurant is listed as opening at 11 am. Imagine my surprise when I got there at 11:45, hoping to snag an early lunch, only to find the door locked. One of the kitchen staff, who was outside working, kindly offered to let us sit inside saying that it would be about 15 min until they opened. As we sat, four more customers arrived. The guy from outside said he didn’t know where the other staff was, but he could take our order. It was now noon. We ordered the ajua torta with shrimp and the Logan Square burrito with shrimp. I signed up for the text alerts and also got the complimentary chips and queso. The portions were huge! The shrimp had a nice, smoky flavor with a touch of spice. However, they weren’t very hot. In fact, none of the food was. I almost wondered about the temperature and safety since this is shellfish. Thankfully, no problems developed. The queso was delicious, but it came out just above room temp when served. We though this was a fluke, so headed back for queso and cocktails on Sat afternoon while running errands in St. Matthews. We pulled up at 4:45 pm to see a handwritten sign that read«Back at 5:30.» They also have an employment sign in the window — maybe this is the issue. Either way, they need to resolve this issue or adjust their published hours to avoid irritating customers. I’ll try again, but it’ll be awhile and I’ll call ahead.

This place was awesome. I came in and challenged the owner, «I’m from LA. Show me what you’ve got.» I ordered the Barbacoa taco and an al pastor taco. Both were generous, served on a fresh(homemade) tortilla and spiced perfected. Really enjoyed the chips and queso. Great selection of house made salsas. This California taco snob will be back soon for more. Great legit Mexican food!

I make an effort to try something new every time I go out. Heard about The Ville Taqueria is a hidden gem. Being from San Diego, I can say that I am a Mecican food snob. The surprise for me was the Miche Helada, a slightly spicy version of a traditional favorite Michelada.

5 stars for the best tacos I’ve had in this city. It’s not a fancy place by any means but it’s clean and the food is amazing. I got a tilapia taco with avocado and a tequila lime chicken taco also with avocado. Yum yum yum the meats were SO fresh! All the ingredients were! I’m not sure where they get the fish, but it blew me away, it tasted like it was just caught and cooked that day. The horchata was tasty, just wish they had cinnamon to go with it. I will be back!

Good tacos made with quality meat and ingredients. The selection of sauces is nice too. Homemade tortillas are hearty. Service is a little slow. Carnitas and shrimp tacos were very good, but the chicken taco wasn’t great because the chicken was not super tender or flavorful(seemed like overcooked breast meat). Come here for the quality ingredients.

OK… I was pretty pumped to try this place seeing the great words behind the place. Let’s just say that my lady and I went to get the full experience. We got a pretty good amount of food,(all different items) to give it a fair shot. This place was straight trash besides the salsa’s. Which were basically crack, especially the orange one. HUGE disappointment. Gummy, cold, cracking tortillas, the most un-seasoned meats I’ve ever had in a mexican joint. Like, less than El Nopal. Yep. And WTF is with 3 – 5 dollars a taco?! GTFO with that. Never, ever going back. Y’all have fun eating this bland food if you want. Go to Hacienda guadalajara or Rositas for the real deal. Plus their tacos are 2 bucks. Cheers.

We’ve been hearing a lot about The Ville Taqueria but we don’t spend a lot of time in St. Matthews, so we had to make an excuse to go. We went for lunch on a Saturday. Parking was easy and they had ample seating, though I’m guessing that depends on what time you are there. I ordered a vegetable quesadilla and a carnitas street taco with no onion. I had a feeling that would be too much food but I didn’t care. Matt got two street tacos, same fillings, and an order of the charro burracho. We also got an order of chips so we’d have an extra vehicle for the salsas(which are self serve). Unfortunately the staff came to tell us they were out of the charro burracho beans, so Matt asked for regular black beans instead. They were less interesting but the staff was really nice about it and refunded the difference(which was seriously less than a dollar – we were not worried about it, but I appreciate their intention). The tacos had an INSANE amount of meat. Very generous and tasty. The vegetable quesadilla was the highlight for me. I love all of the veggies they include: poblano, spinach, mushroom, and corn(clearly fresh because some of the kernels were still attached to each other). Best of all(for me) there is no onion in the mix, unless you get your quesadilla fajita style with the pico, which is on the side anyway. The vegetable ensemble was fine in a taco but the cheese really goes well with those flavors. I would definitely order the vegetable quesadilla again. The salsas were unique but still quite good. The mild was more of a hot sauce than the table salsa I was expecting. The verde was nice, though non-standard. Overall everything was good but I don’t see us frequenting this place when we have other quality taco options that are more in our usual sphere.

We’ve just moved into the neighborhood and were so pleased to find this St. Matthews gem just down the street from us. Our favorite is the shrimp quesadilla with a side of the street corn. The margaritas(and bourbonritas) are delicious and even though I’m a big guy, two of these is my limit. They also have a salsa bar with some delicious and unusual salsas. Chef Fabian has started smoking chicken wings lately, but we’ve not had a chance to try them out yet. Looking forward to it!

I feel like I took a trip back to Mexico! Everything about The Ville Taqueria is simple yet fantastic! I was greeted by Susie with a smile and excitement for this being my first visit! I felt guilty that I was cheating on El Taco Luchador, but enough was enough. I had to stop being picky about where I ate my Mexican food! I can be a creature of habit when it comes to Mexican food. But when I branch out, boy oh boy am I patting myself on the butt or what. The Ville Taqueria offers tacos, quesadillas, and tortas that you build off of. With meat ranging from pork shoulder, carnitas, CHORIZO(yes, you heard me), chicken, beef, shrimp, vegetable, and all the way to mahi mahi… It’s quite the decision. But really, I doubt you can go wrong here. Thanks to miss Susie’s recommendation, I requested the carnitas quesadilla. I am not a quesadilla fan, however, I enjoy a challenge. If a restaurant can serve up a dish they are famous for that I would normally NEVER order… Than they have my heart and wallet for life! FUNFACT: if you add your number to their frequent buyer database, you get a FREEQUESO! Yes, you heard that correctly. Free freaking cheese! Cheese is my favorite vegetable and fruit and entrée ;) it was creamy, it melted in my mouth, and it was simply delicious. As for their salsas… Fresh and filled with unique flavor! They offer your traditional verde, rojo, and habanero. And then, they throw funky salsas like agave mild which was sweet, tangy, and SPICY! All of my favorite flavor a in one! I could pour this salsa on anything I want to consume for the rest of my life. Yes, it’s THAT awesome! I drenched one half of my quesadilla in the agave mild and left one to enjoy the full flavor train! My quesadilla rolled out in less than five minutes of ordering. No wait. I will take it! The quesadilla did make my belly happy and allowed me to have a newfound love and craving for carnitas quesadillas. It was fresh without the greasy effect that many Tex mex style restaurants fail to deliver on. Not The Ville Taqueria. They deliver 110% when it comes to service, flavor, presentation, price, salsas, and their endless menu of options that I will continue to try and live. See you tomorrow, The Ville Taqueria

I checked the Unilocal page & realized that I haven’t typed out anything about this business yet. I’ve been here at least a dozen times! This place is hidden & tucked away behind BBC. Honestly, anyone hanging out on Shelbyville road in that area… I’m not sure why you’re not eating here. You can do your drinking somewhere else, but do your eating here! They have plenty of sides & salsas, but we should end the discussion here. DELBLANCOQUESOVERDE is a must! I usually don’t crave queso, but the queso here is some of the best around. They have plenty of beer to choose from. The only drink I’ve ordered from there is the Bourbon-rita. It was much stronger than I thought it would be. The Food: Basic concept here. You pick your style: Taco, Burrito, Quesadilla, or Torta. From there you choose your filling: Beef, Chicken, Pork, Shrimp, Fish, or Vegetable. You can also choose from different sub-menus within those options. For example: There are 3 different burrito types. 2 different taco & quesadilla types. 3 different kinds of pork & so on. The burritos might be my favorite in town. The Logan Square option with chorizo… I’ve never been that full in my life! The quesadillas are easily as filling. I can’t say the same for the tacos. I doubt I’ll ever order the tacos here again. I’ve tried most of the fillings but not all so I’ll speak to the ones I’ve tried. Fillings I’ve tried: — Adobo Marinade Flat Grilled(Rib eye) — Okay, but a little dry. — Brisket — Just a like. — Pollo Asado(Chicken) — Tasty. — Al Pastor(pork) — Disappointed here because Al Pastor is my favorite. — Carnitas — Tasty. Love. — Chorizo — Tasty. Love. Slightly greasy, but easily my favorite thing here. — Vegetable — Tasty. When I’m not feeling meat, it’s a great option. My only annoyance is that I thought I was going to have a late night spot to get great burritos/quesadillas. When they first opened, they were open until 2AM on Thursday &4AM on Fri-Sat. They’ve dialed the hours back to 10PM on Thursday &2AM on Fri-Sat which is fine because when the business isn’t there… it just isn’t there. There was a Thursday a while back where I came from a concert & was craving The Ville. I arrived just after 11& all the lights were out. Disappointing but I’ll survive. Side notes: — Plenty of room to sit inside & out. — Clean. — Fast service. — Friendly staff. — Open until 2AM on Friday & Saturday. — Sometimes it gets busy, but not so busy that you have to wait for a long time. — Taking 1 star off since the tacos are lacking here.

The Ville Taqueria doesn’t try to stand out by being flashy or by using unconventional fillings. Their food isn’t the most picturesque or worked over. It’s just delicious Mexican food. And it’s fantastic. That takes work, and I love that The Ville Taqueria stands out because it makes its food look so effortless yet tasty. On my first visit, I ordered the steak quesadilla($ 8) at the urging of my lunchmate. Man, what a great suggestion it was! The tortilla had some seasoning on the outside, and the steak was so flavorful. It had some extra seasoning mixed it that was hard to put my finger on but made it stand out from any other quesadilla that I’ve ever had. I also thought the quesadilla wouldn’t be enough by itself — I was wrong; it would have been — so I ordered a tilapia taco($ 3.75). I’m a bit of a nut about fish tacos so I had to try this. The tilapia was dry-rubbed and flat-grilled. I got the taco«CLT» style, meaning it had cheese, lettuce and tomato. I loved that the fish wasn’t fried to a crisp, but was soft and, again, well seasoned. That’s really were the Ville Taqueria stands out — it’s seasoning! The Ville Taqueria also has mahi mahi and shrimp tacos. While I loved the tilapia, I love shrimp even more. Had I noticed that as an option, I would have gotten that. And to top everything off, I got a Mexican Coke. The food came out fast, and the service was friendly and patient, especially with a bumbling customer like me, who was trying to take in the menu for the first time. The Ville Taqueria is tucked in behind the hubbub of St. Matthews, which makes it a calm place to get a great, relaxing meal. I’m really looking forward to going back and trying out more fun items from their menu.

This place is really, really good. Fresh ingredients and authentic Mexican flavor. It’s a bit hidden. Located in Saint Matthews– just behind BBC. It’s small but has an adorable patio with ceiling fans. You simply order inside at the counter and someone will bring your food out to you when it’s ready. They have beer and cocktails. I had the margarita and I have to say it is one of the BEST margarita’s I have ever had. They are made with fresh juice and agave– not sour mix or pre-made crap. We got a free order of Queso for entering our cell number into the system for promos. The chips were hot and crunchy without being fried and greasy like some places. I ordered 1 jumbo shrimp taco and 1 tilapia taco. Both came on warm, soft corn tortillas with fresh cilantro. Delicious! I look forward to going back to try fajitas.
