Home Depot. Good ol’ Home Depot. This particular Home Depot is pretty good. It’s been a little hit or miss with the customer service. Some days it’s really easy to get help and some days there’s not an employee in sight and when you finally get an 18 year old kid to follow you over to the aisle, he knows just as much as you do. I mean overall, Home Depot is just well… It’s good. It’s fine. This location is not exceptional. Just average.

What has happened to the Customer Service at this Home Depot? Helpful has become Ignored and avoid. When I finally got help in selecting a mower the clerk was very friendly and knowledgeable., He said I would get my 10% military veterans discount on my $ 400 lawn mower then when I got up to the counter the clerk did not take the 10% off. I didn’t notice till I got home, unpacked the mower and filled it with fluids, and mowed the yard. So, I had to go back the next day to buy a couple more things and brought my receipt in to get my discount which has never been a problem in the past. The clerk could not get the discount to work and called over the assistant manager. He said they don’t honor the military discount for honda mowers then turned and walked away. Not another word. Wow. If not for the friendly, helpful and knowledgeable clerk, St. Matthew’s home depot would be getting 2 stars.

Over the past few days I have been to this store to purchase everyday hardware store items; standard size nuts and bolts, wheels and presses wood. And on each occasion I have been told the product is out of stock. I am not sure but if their goal is to have minimal inventory on hand to reduce storage needs or stocking efforts but what ever it is it is costing them business. To be a customer at this store you should always call first to ensure they have what you need or be prepared to alter your project to fit what they have on hand.

Garden center employees were apathetic, unfriendly and made no effort to answer my questions. It was a Wednesday afternoon and they were not busy… they just didn’t care. Lots of dying plants in the garden center and an unimpressive selection…. This was my first and LAST visit to this Home Depot location and it failed to live up to my experiences at other Home Depot stores.

Well, you fall into that same kind of trap, this place is too big to have enough people to be able to help you. I would rather go here than Lowes… Normally once we do find someone that can help me they have been pretty nice. Most of the people that work here are your«Average Joe» kind of person so typically pretty friendly and nice, but once again… sometimes I feel like Tom Hanks in Cast Away, A man on an island, looking for help.

I was absolutely lost and confused in this place until an angel sent from above by the name of Tim came to my rescue. I’m not one for the damsel in distress sorry faced lost puppy dog eyed… you get the point, but WHOAH, there is A LOT to choose from in this mecca of inspiration. I was there for spray paint to complete the Halloween costume I never completed as well as an idea for a tame hunting firearm that my date would need. After perusing the wood section(hey get your mind outta the gutter and pass the butter!) as it was very large…(seroiusly!), I was politely asked«may I help you find anything?» It was as if the gates had opened and out stepped the most magnificent(married people– don’t get your things ina bunch!) non-glowing heaven-on-earthling you could ask for. When I replied, «a gun… well an idea for how to make a gun… I mean, not a real one… I mean, it’s for Halloween you see.» After not kicking me out of the store, Tim suggested that I make one using PVC pipe. I immediately googled this concept and believe it or not there are MANY do-it-yourself PVC pipe projects. I recommend ALLOFTHEM. Though his suggestion alone would’ve sufficed for four stars, Home Depot receives ALLFIVE of the coveted stars due to what occurred next. He helped: locate the parts, help me fit the parts, help me CUT the PVC, helped me assemble the entire thing, and escorted me to the check out to make sure that I didn’t get overcharged. I spent $ 4 on a functioning marshmallow shooting gun. THAT’S it. The marshamallows we almost more expensive. Lego’s have NOTHING on these skillzzzz. My giant 4-yr old at heart boyfriend was overjoyed at the gift. Ladies, you absolutely have to make this for the gentleman caller in your life, he might just fall in love with you so be careful how you use this one. I have since then been inspired to build my own bar for my apartment as I saw some really pretty glass tile while I was there. With this new found ability to use tools and whatnot, I am unstoppable, at least on the days that Tim is working.

This is not the largest Home Depot, but it’s close to home and they actually beat out Lowe’s(my personal favorite) when I was looking for bathroom and kitchen tiles. A great place to go when you have a craft project drifting around in your head and you need to get some inspiration. Decent gardening section, but Lowe’s really corners the market on that.

Typical home improvement warehouse store. Good: Probably one of the larger Home Depot stores in the Louisville area. It’s convenient to a B3(Bed Bath & Beyond) store in the same strip which is a perfect for a home improvement shopper. Plenty of employees around to help if needed. Bad: Nothing at all. Though, I would recommend avoiding this store and entire area during the evening rush hour… it gets very congested.
