The waffles are presented on a plate covered in powdered sugar and are a mess. Portions could be bigger to match their price tag and service was very slow. Coffee was strong and hot and presented quickly, but neither silverware or extra plates to eat mess of a waffle came until later. With a few changes they could do very well.

Food is good and it is definitely a starter restaurant. The new location has a weird smell but the service is great and I’ve never had anything I did not like. Staff is knowledgeable of the menu and always offer honest feedback on the menu.

Took a long time for my food but I couldn’t have been happier with the result. Had a fantastic burger covered with pulled pork called the Bron something. The head chef came out and brought us the best powdered sugar covered waffles I’ve ever eaten. A bit unusual décor, but well worth for the food. Go try it.

My boyfriend took me here for birthday brunch Sunday and we were treated very well by the owner, Darnell. We ordered Elvis waffles, banana pudding, granola encrusted French toast, and smoked salmon eggs. All 3 were delicious. If I had to pick a favorite, I would say the French toast. It was crunchy on the outside and perfectly moist and flavorful on the inside with a sauce that made me want to lick the plate. The server brought us a round of mimosa’s for my birthday and they were just like I prefer them– heavy in the champagne. The specialty drink menu looked very unique and I will definitely give some of those a try next time.

This is my new go to place when we have guests come from out of town. If you have not been here, shame on you… But seriously, you have to go for the presentation alone. Make sure you go to the bathroom so you can read the story in there, inspirational, also see the news articles on the way. Ask if the chef is there, he is a lot, real good guy just to speak with

3rd time eating here but my1st time at the new location — which is very nice and spacious compared to the previous spot… Waffle bites were excellent! Omelette and potatoes were good! I’m glad that I came at the perfect time because we were seated right away. Staff is nice but needs more practice on what tables the meals go too(had several meals come to my table and they weren’t ours) — Also, if the waitresses could make sure that all items ordered are remembered when they are inputting the info– or really, just keep a notepad handy for better accuracy. Overall, I was pleased.

Wanted to give this place a shot even though the reviews weren’t so hot. Kinda wish we hadn’t. Came here for brunch and it does get busy during this time. But we only waited about 15 minutes although I saw empty tables sitting open the whole time we waited. Not sure if they are just trying to create the look that this place is in high demand or what. I think this has so much potential to be a great Louisville eatery but really needs to concentrate on food quality and taste. The concept of having a themed restaurant is great and they execute it somewhat well. Would be better if the wait staff dressed like super heroes, just saying. I like the décor and fresh feel of the restaurant inside. But the main reason we come to a restaurant is to enjoy the food and we were disappointed big time. I ordered the smoked salmon omelet… the salmon was not fresh tasting or smoked. The omelet was so dense I could only eat maybe 5 bites of it. The cheese wasn’t melted inside because the red pepper sauce the drenched in there was still cold. Who puts a sauce inside an omelette?! I think that belongs lightly drizzled over the top. The plate they fit everything on is tiny so every time I took a bite it would fall on the table… so annoying! It came with a wilted salad drizzled with honey mustard dressing. The only great part were the potatoes which they called«hash» but to me they were just crispy potato squares. Service was pretty good, nothing to call home about. Might give this place another try in some distant future to see if dinner is any better but stay away from this place for breakfast.

Dinner doesn’t start until 430 they close at 3 to get ready for the dinner rush. The venue is lovely and the menus with the uniform is creative. The customer service needs some help. Possible less attitude but so far so good. I ordered the wings and Waffles. Maybe one day I can come to try dinner

Super Chefs is a faith-based superhero themed restaurant in St. Matthews Kentucky. Located in a tiny strip center right off the main strip of Shelbyville Road, Superchefs can easily be overlooked in the growing and crowded area. The interior is nice and set up similarly to an old school diner style restaurant with a hostess table up front in the middle and seating on the right and left. There is a small, comfortable waiting area to the left of the entrance. The walls are adorned with the superhero theme including a depiction of the Last Supper with Marvel and DC heroes. Superman assumes the Christ position natch. Farther back the restaurant gets more interesting. A full bar with seating is in the middle of the back. There is also a semi-private chefs table near the bar in an enclosed transparent room. Past the dining room proper are large clean restrooms and a private party room in the back. The party room was being used by large groups on both of my visits. Coincidence or good marketing focus on that area. The menu is expansive and includes complete menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Most of the menu items are named to go along with the superhero theme. Sandwiches and quesadillas are named after the big names in the Marvel and DC universe including the Superman and the Batman quesadillas and The Hulk breakfast sandwich. The large menu is very overwhelming. Everything sounds terrific and if you watch other tables get their food you’ll likely find your self wishing you’d have ordered something else. I’ve enjoyed breakfast and lunch items and everything was fantastic. Breakfast choices include all of the standard items, eggs, sausage, pancakes with a focus on their unique waffles. On our most recent visit I tried to take on The Hulk; eggs, bacon, sausage and cheese crammed between two large green waffles. The green coloring added to the waffles gives the sandwich a striking look and the insides are fantastic. They top this sandwich with a drizzle of syrup making it a bit messy, but the soft waffle with a slightly crispy crust makes a great sandwich base. The waffle bites are an interesting if not sugary breakfast style appetizer. Bits of their soft, chewy waffle topped with syrup, whipped cream, sugar and strawberry compote. A great way to get a taste of their breakfast offering if you choose to get a lunch item. For lunch, the choices are similarly extensive and delicious. The problem here is everything is so good it’s hard to choose. The Bron Bron burger topped with pulled pork and hot crap spread is a standout. All of the flavors blend perfectly together making a unique sandwich offering. My favorite item is the Batman quesadilla. Thinly sliced steak expertly seasoned and prepared stuffed inside a warm soft tortilla. Everything I’ve eaten here has been delicious. Unique items, carefully planned and expertly prepared. I do have to mention our most recent visit service was painfully slow. We drove from Cincinnati and my son really wanted to eat here. So we committed. We ended up being in the restaurant for 2 hours! With an hour and 10 minutes passing between the time we ordered and receiver our food. Our server and the manager were apologetic and attentive, but it was pretty awful. I’d hope it was an anomaly because the food itself is definitely worth a visit.

I hate to do it, SuperChefs… but it’s not working. The idea is awesome. The comic book style menu is neat and fun. That’s where the positive things end. * The décor in the restaurant just doesn’t match the theme. Looks like a bunch of Better Homes furniture was bought from , and the walls are painted with a drab color. * The food is big and beautiful and looks like it is going to be awesome, but it isn’t. It’s bland. Everything I’ve had, I just thought meh. I’d rather eat Waffle House. * The service is shocking. The last waitress we had didn’t write down our order, and we ended up not getting everything we ordered. Wife asked for coffee, the lady brought out half a cup of cold coffee, and said that she’ll bring out more when it is brewed. Wife never got more coffee. As well, we were without cutlery for ages while our food sat in front of us. I kept waiting for our server, and I saw her dancing(yes, dancing) in the kitchen/waitress area. Great concept. Terrible execution. Raze it to the ground and start over, SuperChefs. That’s the best advice I can give you.

I went for brunch with a group of girlfriends. We were able to call ahead for seating since it was a large group and were seated in the very back. The décor is pretty cool with restaurant reviews and super hero themed photos on the walls. The restaurant was packed and the service was slow but we expected that with the crowd. Our table ordered the g.o.a.t. grilled cheese, Reese’s cup pancakes, tofu scramble and candied bacon egg and cheese sandwich. I had the tofu scramble and cleaned the plate! Im always on the look out for vegetarian dishes and this one did not disappoint! Very flavorful, nice texture and large portions! It came with hash browns and a small dressed salad. The pancakes were insanely decadent and fluffy. Each stack was«glued» together with peanut butter and the plate was drizzled with peanut butter and chocolate. If you want dessert for breakfast that is the way to go! I was unable to try the other dishes but noone was disappointed and everyone said they couldn’t wait to come back. The only draw back is parking. There are very few spots out front and while there is more parking in the back it’s hard to find if you are unfamiliar with the area. I was able to park down the street but by the time we left street parking was blown out as well.

Like most people, you refer to Unilocal before even considering stepping out the door. So my friend decided to try SuperChef’s for her birthday brunch. What else goes better with friends, than fun and good food. So let’s start with the food, that’s what you’re here to read about Entrée #1(Bday Girl): Red Velvet Pancakes: she really liked them and said they were good Entrees #2&3: Sausage Egg and Cheese Sandwiches: both were good, potates(aka hashbrowns) were on point Last but not least, my entrée, the veggie breakfast sandwich, with a side of turkey bacon, it was good, but I wasn’t overly impressed. I really did like the potatoes as well. Also, my friends had a mimosa special with sherbet and really enjoyed it. Btw, as previous reviews states, our service was pretty good, we saw our waitress many times and the manger came over and checked on us, even cleared plates. I’m going to give them another try either at lunch or dinner and see how it goes…

Went for a lunch last Friday with a crew from the office. There wasn’t really anyone there and it still took WAY too long to get our food. At the table, we had a quesadilla, burger, waffle sandwich, and grilled cheese. The burger bun fell apart at the first bite — no way it would stand up to that burger. The quesadilla was standard fare. Waffle sandwich had waffles that tasted as if re-heated — off texture. Grilled cheese was good, though bread is too thick. I’m sure they’re going for wow factor, but I’d rather have a sandwich I don’t have to squish to take a bite. American cheese wasn’t actually melted. Do love the addition of Boursin cheese and honey topping the bread. Fries were pretty good. I’m not sure I’ll be back. There was an odd smell to the place when we walked in. Gnats overwhelmed our table by the end of lunch. Not sure how they get around copyright using the comic book names and characters everywhere.

Loved, loved, loved my lunch with a friend here today. The wait was long and could have been helped by quicker table clearing but honestly, that’s the only negative thing I can say. The décor is fun and the theme is light-heartedly carried through the menu. Super hero characters everywhere! Our server was great and helpful, assisting with narrowing down our choices. I got a sandwich with candied bacon, scrambled egg, greens and mustard sauce on a pretzel croissant. It was excellent, along with the hash browns. They reminded me of the potatoes they used to serve on UK’s campus when I was a student. So good! My friend got the Elvis waffles. Peanut butter, chocolate syrup, whipped cream and candied bacon. Holy cow. I tried a bite and they were also so great. I am really looking forward to going back to try something else! They have so much to offer.

This super hero-themed restaurant offers a nice variety of delicious comfort food. I met some friends here for lunch on a Saturday at noon and was pleasantly surprised to find out the restaurant still served breakfast dishes during afternoon hours. Yeah!!! I could eat breakfast foods all day! Our server, who was very personable and attentive, checked on us numerous times because we took such a long time to decide what to order(seemingly everything [many items are named after super heroes or villans] on the menu would be a delightful culinary experience). I ordered the smoked salmon and cheese omelet with a side of hash browns. The wait for our food was not long at all. The smoked salmon was actually mixed into the eggs before they were cooked so that the salmon taste was all throughout the omelet. It, mixed with the capers and roasted red peppers, made for a delightful combination. The hash browns were similar in taste to the french fries, but the textures were just a little different. I preferred my friend’s french fries to my hashbrowns. The wonderful thing about going to a restaurant with multiple friends is that you can share and taste multiple dishes. So, with this sharing attitude, I got to taste my friend’s dishes, which were the«Bron-Bron» burger and the apple caramel pancake. The apple caramel pancake was fluffy and creatively shaped like a star with a dollop of whipped cream. It was sweet and could suffice for a dessert. The«Bron-Bron burger tasted out-of-this-world. It’s a beef burger topped with pulled pork. Because I had only a small bite, I could not determine whether the meat or the sauce had a spicy kick. The combination of ingredients made my taste buds dance and the spicy«kick» just made me want to eat more. While we enjoyed our food, the manager and the chef/owner(at different times) stopped by our table to ask if our food and our dining experience was enjoyable. They stopped by the tables of all the patrons on that day. I read some of the lackluster or bad reviews and I have to disagree with them. Maybe the owner read some of the reviews on Unilocal and made some changes. At least, my experience here was a wonderful one and I will return to feast upon other menu items.

Apart from our waitress disappearing for a while, I really enjoyed this place. My sister took me here for breakfast with a gift certificate and upon walking in, I knew I would like this place. From the super hero Last Supper painting to the comic boom style menus with villain, hero, and civilian options. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted but decided on the Super Sliders and waffle bites. Both of them were incredibly delicious. I hope to return to try something off the lunch and dinner menus

I was really excited to try SuperChefs so one day a friend and I went for breakfast. While my current rating is 3 stars I hope to raise this after my next visit. I think you need to pick items on the menu that are a little out of the box to get the full experience. Just look at the pictures! I try to eat a certain way so sometimes it’s hard to branch out. ;) What we got: We started off with the beignets which were good and probably my favorite part of the meal. I chose the veggie omelet w/no cheese and added smoked salmon. It was your typical omelet but for some reason I was expecting thinner pieces of smoked salmon instead of chunks. The hash browns were crispy, which is how I like them. Others may think they were cooked too much. My friend got the SuperChefs Breakfast Platter. He said it was ok but nothing special and his food didn’t all come out together. Overall the prices were ok but I know places just as good where I can get the same food cheaper. Next time I plan on going for lunch or dinner so I have more options. There are a few items on the menu I’m excited to try.

Two stars for me and reason being is wait time. We get there and we have to wait 45 minutes or so. The place is crowded and it looks like they barely have any staff. I was excited about the food though, just looking at the menu was very neat. I liked the super hero theme of course, the staff was sporting something super heroish that gave off the whole theme they are going for. Upon reading other reviews of this place I was skeptic. I ordered the wolverine superdilla, a quesadilla with shrimp and other things you would expect in a quesadilla. Not too impressed since the size and price of the quesadilla was just alright. Food felt a bit light even after finishing the full quesadilla. The waiter amongst other things were ok. My biggest issue was that we waited 45 minutes, plus another half hour or so to get our food(which there wasn’t a lot of) and then it took us 10 minutes to eat, that’s unacceptable. Sometimes it’s the little things that can make your experience that much better but I’ll just have to give another try hoping for more. Although I won’t be coming back here for a while I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited about the super hero theme.

This place is showing a lot of potential! The food was a 4 for me, the service was about a 3.5 I ordered a Hulk waffle sandwich, because this place offers gluten free waffles(YASSS) and I had to have it! This was so complex and delicious! They really hit the nail on the head with this guy! It was also pretty darn filling! So here is where service gets kinda weird for me. Within 5 minutes of joining my friend who got there before me, 3 different people asked if I’ve been waited on, what do I want to drink, do I have any questions about the menu, etc. It was a little much to be honest. Fast forward to when I place my order. I tell the waitress about my allergy. The Hulk is served with a potato side that the waitress was unsure about the GF status of the side. I told her if it wasn’t GF to please replace it with a side that was. 20min later the food comes. The sandwich looks AWESOME, and tastes even better. But no side, none. I flagged down one of the people from earlier to request(again) a GF side — fruit cup of descent, but not that great fruits. My friend and I finished our meals and waited a long time for someone, anyone to give us the check. I think this is partly due to a lack of communication somewhere, after all, I’ve had several people attempt to wait on us earlier! When the bill came I was charged the full price for my meal AND the full price for the fruit cup. Um, excuse me, most restaurants just up charge you *some* for switching out sides, not charge $ 3.50 for a mediocre fruit cup because the«side» assigned to a dish isn’t safe for me to eat. They need to figure up a new POS system perhaps? The food is great and if you come during the week, it’s a little slower so they can take care of you better based on their skill set. The food here is great, and I think that if the management figures out a game plan, this place could go really far!

BOOM! POW! BAM! THUD. That fairly sums up my current reaction to Superchef. As a fan of both comic books and food, this should be a no-brainer for me. And I really want to enjoy SC as I was a huge fan of the original but currently this is a concept that isn’t quite hitting the mark. Stopping by for dinner with my boys, the hostess appeared confused on where to seat us, even though the room was half full. Also, while I appreciate the musical stylings of Stevie Wonder, I felt the music was a bit louder than it should’ve been. Once seated, for drinks, the boys had Sprite and I ordered an unsweetened tea. After checking, the waiter informed me they were out of unsweetened tea, so I opted for a water instead, although in my head I thought, «How can you be out of unsweetened tea? It’s boiled water and dead leaves, take 5 minutes and brew some up.» Anyhow, sipping my water and perusing the dinner menu, I’d hoped that a few lunch options would still be available for the boys, but, no, dinner only according to the waiter so they were stuck with the only 2 kid-friendly options on the dinner side, a grilled cheese for one, cereal-crusted chicken tenders for the other. I opted for the Hal Jordan, which is an order of sticky ribs. I also ordered Land Sliders for an appetizer, which is simply a set of 2 beef patties with candied bacon between a couple thick slices of fried potato. The food, arrived at differing times after some wait, and oddly enough, the sliders and my ribs first, then the tenders, then the grilled cheese. I immediately noticed that none of these plates come with any sort of side, strictly entrée, which is bit disconcerting when ordering a $ 7 grilled cheese, but I suppose I’m paying for plating. And that’s just it, the stuff looks fantastic, but the execution and flavors can be pretty pedestrian. The sliders tasted like a lot of Worcestershire added to the beef and the 2 slices of potato as buns did not work. My ribs, while sweet were not near as tender as I would expect. My one son’s tenders were OK, the cereal crust appropriately crunchy but the drizzled honey mustard was simply like adding candy, too sweet. The grilled cheese, was, well, grilled cheese, and honestly, looked a bit dry. And that’s it, like a lot of empty onomotapeia from a ‘60s Batman episode, plating that makes things appear promising but with flavors that don’t necessarily land any real punches, service that’s not really superheroic, and pricing on the dinner menu that borders on villainy. I’m not so put off that I won’t try again, but it’ll likely be for breakfast instead.

ugh. I so wanted to love this place. I left more confused than anything when we left. we started out by checking the mixed drink/mimosa menu they had displayed on every table.(we are on vacation anyway and can drink at 10am) after finally deciding what drink to get and placing the order, he informs us that they currently do not have a liquor license and we couldn’t order anything from that menu. Umm … then why have it out for display? put them out when you can actually serve them. made no sense. then we ordered the beignets and those were FANTASTIC. those did not disappoint. next was our meal. my guest ordered the Super Chef Sliders. here’s the description on the menu(which you can see from the photo I posted) «candied bacon & sausage topped with an over-easy egg on Texas toast». sounds awesome! it came to table, the server dropped it off and left. his was an egg with the bacon/sausage but also had mixed greens and a spicy sauce. ALSO it was on a pretzel croissant. ok, whoops, they brought us the wrong thing. whatever. so we flagged the server over and I said that he had ordered the sliders. then he said«those are the sliders.» so we proceeded to tell him that it wasn’t suppose to have greens, sauce or come on a pretzel croissant. he checked with the back and came back out and said that it was definitely the sliders and he apologized for it having a vague description. ??? um, no, the description was very clear. it was COMPLETELY different from what was listed. I’m still baffled by the whole thing. luckily my order came with 2 sandwiches so we canceled his order and he shared mine. I know they just opened recently, but I expected more from them since it’s not a new concept, just a different location. They really need to step it up and get their things figured out. I’m giving 2 stars because of the beignets and the pancakes ordered at the table next to us looked good and our server was very nice and polite! but is it worth it to go back?
