You can expect 2 things when you come here and that is «great burgers» and«great service». Stopped in last night we all enjoyed our burgers which by the way they know how to make a really good burger.

Highly recommend the six weeker burger, the fig jam is delicious with the onions. Great music and atmosphere for a group to go and hang out.

This easily became one of my favorite places to go to! Great atmosphere and excellent service! The staff was super friendly and knowledgable about matching the perfect beer/wine with your burger! I had the Shuffle truffle burger and paired it with a glass of Pinot noir-great choice; although they suggest getting a glass of Malbec, maybe next time? I will definitely come back for more!

With so many good reviews, I wanted to love Stout… but I didn’t. We came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and we concluded that the place itself is really nice, they have a great beer selection, but they lack in customer service. We sat down and someone immediately brought glasses of water, which I thought would mean the service was going to be quick. Not exactly. Our server showed up like 10 mins later and only took the drink order for two out of the four of us and quickly went to the kitchen and when she reappeared, went on to serve another table. When she came back to us with the two drinks, she got the third drink order but before my friend could even order his, the server walked away without acknowledging him. Our server came back another 10 minutes later to get our food order(please note we had already been there for almost 35 minutes). I ordered the ‘six weekender beef burger’ and my husband the ‘low and slow chicken burger’. He loved his, I wasn’t impressed with mine but it was mainly because the bread at the bottom was soggy. The burger itself was cooked perfectly and actually good when I removed the bun. Everyone loved the onion rings and although the sweet potato fries were good, I didn’t like that they had no ‘sweet dipping sauce’ for them, not even honey. Speaking of sauces, they charge extra for sauces which was kind of disappointing for a restaurant that is considered to be more upscale. If I’m at a burger place, I would at least expect for BBQ sauce to be included. Do you remember my friend that tried to order a drink but was ignored multiple times? Well he ordered his drink with the meal order… he never got it… and had to order it again after he was done eating because it was the only time the server came back. The server was also mad at a customer from another table which was noticeable when she stormed into the kitchen cursing. Overall, the experience was terrible and the food could have been better.

The best burger I have had in Louisville. Get the SIXWEEKER(Brie /Fig Jam /Arugula /Caramelized Onions)! So good! Tried all the sides: Seasoned fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings. Get the chutney mayo it is phenomenal. Dont order the Dirty martini — the brine they use is extremely strong, and on top of that they are extremely heavy handed with it. I dont think I have ever not finished a drink in my life until I had this. But! They redeemed themselves with the old fashioned — a lovely drink, I could order that all day.

Thanks to Emily H. I found this place. So shout out to Emily… This place is really laid bck. When i walked in India greeted us which was nice. Didnt expect for this place to be so small but its very nice looking. When it was time to order I didnt like that i couldn’t add to my burger which really sucks in my opinion considering tht i love an egg on all my burgers so was very disappointed tht as a customer i couldn’t get wht i want. I ordered a stout burger and onion rings. My sister and guy friend of course went basic with the American burger… The burgers had no flavor and was chewy… its was doable… i couldn’t finish it. if it didnt have all the fixins on burger it wouldn’t be ok. Needs more season on burgers

Solid burgers and fries, good beer selection, and a great spot on bardstown. A tad pricey considering fries are extra and beers are higher than average for the area but they have a great half off food deal from 5 – 6.

I have been waiting to try this place since before they even opened their doors in the highlands. I had heard good things. I was ready to give the veggie burger(which has been highly talked about) a try. Me and a couple of friends decided to go on a random Wednesday evening around 6:30pm. They were at about half capacity at the dining tables and there were only a couple of people sitting at the bar(and not even for the entire time we were there). The first thing I noticed was how slow the service was on this particular night. We sat down and waited for what seemed like close to 10 minutes for anyone to come over and offer to bring us some water. We all ordered a drink, two of us beers and one a bourbon on the rocks. The drinks took a while, but once they arrived they were all tasty. The drawback on the beer is the price. I find their pricing to be a bit expensive. They offer full pours as well as 4oz pours. If you figure the cost of three 4 oz pours… it would likely cost you around $ 12 for 12 oz of beer. Not the best deal at all. The full pours seem to be all around 1 – 2 dollars higher than other craft beer offerings around town. We ordered our dinner and patiently waited. I split a veggie burger with my friend and we both ordered a side of fries. Our other friend went with one of the chicken burgers. The texture and flavor of the veggie burger was delicious! You can tell they make the mix and do not pre-cook these patties. Kudos for that. I enjoyed the quinoa and bean burger! The bun, however, was quite dry and not very flavorful. They use a wheat bun for the veggie burgers… maybe the regular bun is tastier? The fries were pretty good. Perfect thickness and nicely seasoned. They offer quite an array of sauces that you can add for .50 cents a piece. The lemon basil aioli was my favorite that I tried! The chipotle one was pretty flavorful too. My overall impression on the food is very average. The burgers are served a la carte and range from around $ 11-$ 12. These burgers are sized similarly to most other burgers around Louisville. The sides start at $ 2 but they do not have many options. They also offer a few salads, which are reasonably priced but I am not sure on the size, since I did not see one come out. They don’t really have any«appetizers» or «starters» on the menu, which seems a bit odd to me. For a place that has more alcohol than food… some shareable additions would be helpful. Our service was sub-par. The manager did come over to check on us a couple of times and seemed friendly, but I guess did not notice the lagging service we were receiving from our server. Instead of staying and ordering a second round of drinks, we decided to just close out and leave. It was taking too long at this point and we were just ready to go. The bottom line for me is that Stout talks a big game but does not really deliver on it. The choices on food are too slim-I wish they offered more shareable items and also allowed you to order any protein with any style burger offered. That would add some more options to the menu. I also wish the pricing was a bit more reasonable. And, I believe the beer prices to be a bit steep. With so many solid choices on burgers and beer places… the bar has been set high in Louisville.

I’ve been here once and will definitely go back again. Portions are ample and my burger was delish! I’m not even a beer drinker but the Belgian beer they offered was delightful, so now I only despise 99.4 percent of beers on the market. Staff was helpful and friendly. The place is small and I went on a Friday night but it still a good vibe.

I am not one to normally go to a «burger» restaurant but Stouts menu really stood out to me. All of their burger combinations sound unique and amazing! They have chicken and veggie burger options which is right up my alley! I love how they offer suggestions for beer pairings for each burger! My friend and I decided to go last Wednesday for dinner. We were immediately seated and offered drinks by our nice waitress who was great! I loved the copper and wood décor, such a cool vibe! I ordered the Bollywood Burger which is a quinoa and bean base burger with chutney mayonnaise, sharp cheddar, arugula, and roasted tomato. I was worried the burger would be really spicy, based on another review, so I asked for the sauce on the side. I also asked for no cheese. To go along with the burger I got an order of the seasoned fries. The fries, which came out first, were delicious! They had the perfect amount of salt and were seasoned with oregano which was a nice twist for French fries. When the burger came out it had cheese on it and no sauce on the side. I try not to eat cheese but had broken my own rule too many times during the holiday season to worry about sending it back. I also didn’t investigate the toppings enough to know if the sauce was on it. The burger looked delicious so I figured I’d try it before saying anything. I loved how the burger wasn’t you typical black bean burger and it had a great flavor. While my burger wasn’t spicy(maybe the sauce wasn’t on it after all) it was very flavorful. I would definitely order it again, after trying the CALI fresh burger. I also ordered a kale and quinoa salad to go. It was topped with onions, red bell pepper, and a house made honey mustard vinegarette. The salad was amazing! One thing that may rub people the wrong way is you cannot add on or make substitutions. You can only take items off. I get the creators of the burgers worked hard to make each burger unique and can appreciate that. Maybe in the future they could add a build your own burger section or offer a special so customers can get creative! Overall I really enjoyed my meal and would eat at Stout again!

Delicious burger joint. I like their creative burger offerings. All sound very tasty, but I settled on the Truffle Shuffle. How can you go wrong with brie cheese, mushrooms, and truffle aioli. It was juicy and greasy perfection. I had the seasoned fries too, which were pretty good. Other things to note… I’ll echo what others have said about Stout being pricey. You’re looking at $ 20/person minimum for a burger and fries. If you’re drinking beer, you can really rack the bill up. Also, I was surprised by how small the interior was. I can definintely see how there could be a long wait on a busy night. Seating is very limited. Overall I really enjoyed my burger from Stout. However, when I’m in the mood for a gourmet burger, there are several other places in Louisville I would choose first. For that reason, I gave Stout four stars. I’m glad I gave Stout a try, and I suggest you give it a try at least once.

Great attentive service, interesting clean décor, great food. This was our first visit to Stout, I had a few certificates to use up and Stout had good reviews so I decided to check it out. Menu is simple and some might say a little thin but I prefer it when restaurants don’t try to cover everything. There are burgers, chicken, and vegetarian burgers and thats about it. Add on seasoned fries, sweet potato fries or option rings. The burgers come with beer or ale suggestions to help you decide what to have with your burger if you drink. I had water with a lemon slice. I ordered the sweet potato fries but asked that the seasoning from the regular fries be used and boy was I glad I did. In fact I’d say the seasoned version is the best sweet potato fries I’ve ever had in Louisville! I would definitely order them again that way. Burger was big and tasty and we both enjoyed our choices. My only complaint came from my wife, they burned the onion rings she ordered, or perhaps you could say they were just really over cooked. The onions inside were still hard and gassy so I guess thy don’t presoak the onions like some places do soften them a little or maybe they fried them too quickly at a high heat that did not allow the inside to fully cook while overdoing it on the outside. Either way my wife was disappointed with the onion rings. Will we go back? Yes. And when your done eating go for walk and check out the many interesting shops nearby.

When you’re craving a perfect burger and a beer, Stout is your place to go. It’s especially enticing now that the weather’s chilly if you’re wanting somewhere cozy to meet for dinner. Picture this: it’s a brisk weekend night and the sun has just set. Bardstown Rd is buzzing with its usual nightlife activity, with cars lining the main artery and lighting up the road and people strolling down the sidewalk to meet up with friends. You’re just one of those strolling people, looking for somewhere inviting to eat a warm bite with a friend, when through the plate-glass window of Stout you glimpse the burnished copper from behind the bar which houses its array of taps. THIS is just the kind of place you were looking for! This was me recently, and my friend and I wasted no time in grabbing a seat in the cozy interior. The restaurant seems to glow from within, from the bright copper housing the beer selection behind the bar to the charm of the exposed brick, to the gentle din of people enjoying a delicious meal. Might I highly recommend the Six Weeker. I ordered that and my friend got the Shu Burger. We cut our burgers in half and shared, and we both agreed that the Six Weeker took top prize. Perfectly-seasoned ground beef topped with creamy Brie, sweet fig jam, caramelized onions, and offset by a peppery crunch of arugula. .. are you salivating yet?(Because I am just remembering it!) Add a side of fries to share, and it’s a perfect burger meal. The Shu Burger was very good, and if it was all I had tried, I would probably have great things to say about it as well. The flavor was well-balanced on it with the smoky chipotle sauce adding just a tiny bit of heat to the whole sandwich. We topped the meal off with bread pudding. It was good, but a little sweeter than I liked with the butterscotch and chocolate chips. However, with a tiny bit of ice cream from the scoop on top for each bite, it made the perfect end to our meal that evening. Don’t hesitate to visit Stout when you get the urge, and you just might find that you have something new to Unilocal about, too!

I appreciate creativity in a business, and it seems that when a business has a creative flair that usually means that the owners are excited about what they do. And Stout oozes with creativity. From the décor to the burgers to the other items on the menu, Stout puts its excitement out there for everyone to see. I love it. Case in point: the burgers. You can tell that each topping has been carefully thought out and excitedly dreamed up. The Stout burger doesn’t just have a burger patty with cheese, lettuce, tomato, ketchup and mustard on a bun. It has blue cheese, gruyère, rosemary bacon — not just bacon but rosemary bacon — and caramelized onions, horseradish cream and roasted tomatoes. This thing is piled high, flavorful and different than 99 percent of the other burgers I’ve tried. My boyfriend got it on our most recent visit. It’s a biggun’ of a burger. I ordered the Goombah, which has parmasiano flakes, smoked mozzarella, crispy prosciutto and a lemon basil aioli. Really this burger combines several of my favorite things into one. I do wish the prosciutto was larger on the burger, rather than in bits, but this was a tall burger of deliciousness as well. These burgers are a bit messy, though, to eat. I opted for a fork and knife, lest the toppings become additions to my shirt. I’ve also gotten the chance to try the Truffle Shuffle burger, with mushrooms, brie and truffle aioli. It’s rich, and my favorite burger among these. I will be getting this the next time I go to Stout. And know before you go: You can’t make substitutions with the burgers. Stout takes pride in their burger choices, and that means that the cheese listed is the cheese you’ll get, unless you want no cheese at all. I don’t really know what to think of this. I get where Stout is coming from, but I also think customers should be able to make reasonable requests. Either way, use this as an excuse to try something new. And Stout’s creativity extends to the sides as well. I am not a fan of onion rings, but these are some of the best I’ve had. I could eat these any day. I also like the seasoned fries, which have some herbs on them — as the name suggests. They are somewhere between shoestring and normal fries. Definitely a good choice to get. The menu also lists several beer pairing suggestions. And the EXTENSIVE beer menu gives you the option to get either a full or 4-ounce pour. Given all the food options along this stretch of Bardstown Road, it’s surprising that there wasn’t a gourmet burger restaurant until now. I’m glad Stout is here to fill this niche.

The level of snobbery that I’m including in this review is relative to the level of snobbery that exists in this business. I’m typically only a snob about two things — BBQ and fried chicken. So this is not normal for me. Here goes… I sit down and was greeted by a nice, enthusiastic bartender. He sits the menu down in front of me, goes over how they do things, and offers up, «Our chefs won’t allow change to the burgers. They’ll only make them as they appear on the menu. They’ll make exceptions if you have an allergy or you don’t like one of the ingredients or whatever, but they won’t substitute or add.» Won’t allow. Seriously. Those words were used. How pretentious. The customer is always right… Unless you go to Stout, apparently. Didn’t affect me. Ended up with the Morning After. A burger that has a chipotle ketchup, egg, and other things. Blah blah. It was tasty. Can’t deny it. Enjoyed the burger. Apparently they grind their own fresh meat or something? Futility. I couldn’t taste any difference between it and a good burger elsewhere. Fries? Not so good. They say seasoned, but what they are? Salty salty salty. Salt. Loads of salt. Ketchup is just your standard ketchup. Good thing about the fries — you get a lot. Definitely shareable. But bleh. Beer selection is major. They say they will match a beer to fit your burger. I asked the bartender to do that for me. He seemed to do a good job. Picked me out an IPA. Couldn’t tell you what kind. But it cost $ 7. So that’s ridiculous. All in all? 3.4 stars. Rounding down. The good things — tasty burger, good beer selection, very neat and clean. The not-so-good things — fries, pretentiousness of the chefs/owner, and the price. Cost me $ 28. By myself. Ridiculous. There are better and cheaper burgers around the city. Try Stout if you want. Or not. I don’t really care.

My first year living in Louisville, I had what I said to be the«best bite of food of all time ever.» I remind my friends who were with me of this moment every once and a while because I feel as though they should be honored to have witnessed that moment. At Stout, I claimed to have had a bite of food that could rival that best bite of food of all time. With that being said, let’s start from the beginning. We knew that with this being a very new(and small) spot we would have a wait. We got there around 6:50 and had a 45 minute wait for 3 of us. We didn’t mind because it’s Bardstown Road, so there’s plenty of things to walk to and they take your cell number so when a table is ready they can call you if you aren’t right there. So if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat, this is not your place. The feel of the place is pretty cool. Behind the bar the wall is covered in brass and the ceiling above the bar has a pretty neat wood design going on. Two large TVs behind the bar were a surprising touch in my opinion, but not in a bad way. Like I said earlier, it’s small. Walk in, there’s a bar and the wall opposite the bar is lined with tables. That’s about it. Our waitress greeted us promptly, brought us some water, and helped us select a beer. The choices were pretty extensive, so it was nice to have a waitress who knew about them all. I was upset to find out that the Founders(my favorite Michigan brew) on tap was out, but she informed me that there was a Great Lakes IPA so I had that instead. It was excellent. Aside from the drafts, they also have some specialty bottled beers. It was fun to look through those, but definitely out of my own price range so only looking for me. On to the food. It was incredibly difficult to decide on which burger I wanted to order– they all sounded great! Thankfully my friends and I all decided to order different burgers so we could have a chance to try more than one each. I had the Goombah and the other two had the Shu and Stout. We also split an order of fries between the 3 of us which were seasoned so well. The first bite of that burger was crazy good. I immediately put it down and told my friends that they would have to hurry and try mine before I ate it all right then. It was perfectly juicy and pink with all of the toppings complimenting each other well. The aioli was the best part of the burger in my opinion. I absolutely loved it. The other two burgers I tried were delicious as well– you just can’t go wrong here! After we were finished eating, it did take a while to get our waitress to bring us a check. Not a big deal, but it bummed me out thinking of all the people that were waiting for our table to be cleared so they could enjoy the food like we had. Overall experience was fantastic and I’d love to come back. It’s an expensive burger for me, though, so sadly that won’t happen too often.

I’m fighting with myself through this entire review on whether they should receive 4 or 5 stars. Most burger places are in the 3 – 4 star range. The only burger places in the 5 star range are Sidebar & Grind. Those restaurants earn those stars on very distinct & different merits. Here we have Stout Burgers & Beer, a California company that chose our lovely town to open up their first out of CA restaurant. Burgers & beer… One area where I feel local burger places are lacking. Grind has beer, but their five stars come from the burger & sides. Sidebar has burgers & bourbon down. MusselBurgerBar has cocktails, mussels, & burgers down. Stout gives you many more beer options on tap. Major plus! So the score I give Stout is going to be based on the burgers, beer, & the laid back atmosphere. I’ve been waiting on this place to open since the announcement a few months ago. Once I heard end of June… I immediately made plans to go on opening night. Show me your burgers! It’s a small place & it was packed, but not so much that we had to wait to be seated. I ended up ordering a beer at the bar to pass the time. 10 minutes later we were taken to an open table. The Beer: They easily had 30 different beers on tap including lagers, pale ales, Belgian dark ales, dark strong ales, Belgian golden, specialty ales, wheat ales, & hoppy ales. They also have specialty bottled beer & wine. Very excited to see Anderson Valley & Tin Man’s Csar on the tap list. They also have bourbon which is always a plus. With a place like this, they even have beer pairings with their burgers so you almost have to order beer. The Food: They have 8 signature burgers including ‘The Hot Brown’ burger. I’m not a huge hot brown fan but it was nice to see the local salute to the hot brown on the menu. I decided to go with ‘The Morning After’ burger(Rosemary Bacon, Egg Over Easy, Aged Cheddar, Chipotle Ketchup). My date ordered the ‘Goombah’ burger(Parmasiano flakes, Smoked Mozzarella, Crispy Proscuitto, & Lemon Basil Aioli). I had to help finish off the ‘Goombah’ but more on that in a minute. ‘The Morning After’. WHAT A BURGER! Juicy. Messy. Perfectly paired ingredients. Yum! The burgers seemed a little small, but as long as you pair it with beer you’ll be satisfied by the time you leave. Although I’ll be making the trip back for the ‘Six Weeker’(Brie, Fig Jam, Arugala, Caramelized Onions), I think ‘The Morning After’ is easily already my go-to here. The ‘Goombah’ that I had to finish off was good, but it seemed a little dry. Not a burger I’ll be ordering on my trips there. Our sides were the seasoned fries & sweet potato fries. They come out in little bowls that make it ideal for sharing. Another plus. Fries actually tasted like potatoes & the sweet potato fries were the right kind of sweet. Other food on their menu: Salads, chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers, sides, & desserts(Including a Mint Julep Shake which will by mine next time)! The Atmosphere: Although it’s a small place where you’re closely seated with other people, it’s really loud. With that loudness, you never feel like someone else is listening to you or that you’re eavesdropping on others. That loudness can also make it difficult to hear everything the servers are saying if they’re soft-spoken. I know that it’s the first night & they’re still working things out, but it’s a very different type of service. You have your server, different people that bring your food, & a different guy coming around to check you out via a Squarish type app on a tablet. It really seemed to work out well although I’m not sure if it’ll stay that way. My only suggestion is to get the washable towel type napkins instead of regular cheap napkins. It would’ve helped greatly during the meal to have better napkins or possibly 2 or 3 napkins. Additional notes: Overall, it seems like an upscale restaurant that’s extremely laid back. I’ll definitely be back. After going back home… the dog wouldn’t leave us alone! I think it’s because we smelled like delicious burgers. She has never done that before. So high-paw from the corgi as well.
