This is my new favorite sandwich shop! They just rolled out a new menu and I’m obsessed with all their hot sandwiches. The ingredients are super fresh and tasty. Not only do I like the menu, but both times I’ve been there in the past few weeks, a manager or owner type person has come up to me and asked if they could help me navigate the new menu. Both times, I ordered based on their recommendation and wasn’t disappointed. If you join their rewards club, you get a free cookie at your next visit. They are baked fresh daily and sure hit the spot.

Came across this place at breakfast time during our stay in Louisville from New Jersey, I ordered the Green thumb and this sandwich is like crack. My boyfriend and I proceeded to order this probably three more times throughout our stay, by the last day the guy at the counter(I believe his name was Scott, who btw was an awesome guy) knew exactly what we were coming for. We tried a couple other sandwich’s which were also amazing, but green thumb is a must try :)

When every employee has the glazed over look on their face as they shuffle around aimlessly and slow, it’s cause for concern. Prepare to be frustrated when all you wanted was a sandwich and get along with your day.

I am so incredibly disappointed in Smiling Moose Deli in Lafayette. Disappointed beyond words. My colleagues and I were in search of a place where we could grab a bite to eat for an offsite meeting. Because I am a health conscious consumer, I quickly researched nearby restaurants who published their nutrition information and found Smiling Moose Deli. I had been to a Smiling Moose Deli several times before in Arvada, Colorado and was satisfied, so it was an easy decision for me. After finding the Tuna! Tuna! on Smiling Moose’s website, I went to the counter to order my lunch. The cashier seemed incredibly confused by what I had ordered and stared blankly at the cash register, muttering random noises. After what seemed like 3 minutes, the cashier asked if I wanted the tuna salad. I explained that the Tuna! Tuna! was an item on their online menu. Soon after, the cashier was assisted by two other employees. The cashier told me that I could ‘build my own salad’. I questioned the employees, saying ‘Do you not have the Tuna! Tuna?! 1 of the 3 employees responded with confusion, saying that item did not sound familiar. I quickly asked about the Chicken! Chicken!, which is also listed on Smiling Moose Deli’s website. Again, I was met with confusion and told that all menu items were listed on the display board or on the paper menu(offered in store). I explained that the items that I was attempting to order were on Smiling Moose Deli’s website. 1 of the 3 employees responded, saying that the website is outdated and was ‘in the process of being updated even as we spoke’. I resorted to asking for a menu with nutrition information and was told ‘our website has all of that information’. So, wait, your website is the best place to get nutrition information, but your website is outdated? In a pinch, I decided to ‘build my own salad’. I asked the cashier ‘what is standard on your salads?’ and was told that lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, onions, etc. were considered standard. Okay, so I was ordering a house salad. I chose just the standard salad and was offered to ‘add protein’, and I selected chicken. Okay, so poor experience, but the hard part is done, right? No. I paid $ 11(I believe $ 11.83 to be exact) for a bowl of iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, cucumbers, and chicken. Talk about feeling taken advantage of. So, now, not only was I disappointed in my experience, but after biting into the chicken and tasting what was obviously a chicken breast doused in salt, I became irritated. For future reference: You can grill a chicken breast and keep it moist and flavorful without pouring tons of sodium into it. The other individuals with me remarked about their own poor experience, such as price, bland food, and a tomato bisque with unknown ‘chunks’(no, not tomatoes). I will never return to a Smiling Moose Deli, and I hope that those considering patronizing Smiling Moose Deli will read this review beforehand and make a better selection.

I ordered the half sandwich half soup option and was not crazy about either. My salad was soggy and had soggy chicken in it(which I didn’t order). The sandwich was slightly better, but still.

Nice little deli. My wife had the Hippy Chick vegan sandwich, my son just built his own with salami on a kaiser roll, and I had the Liz’s Rueben. Really good food and the folks working there were great!

They have some pretty good sandwiches like the Parisian, Bayou Chicken, and Reuben. Definitely better than Subway or place like that, but also not super fancy sandwiches either. I’d say that they’re a good spot for a lunch break.

I’ve recommended this place to other people by word of mouth for 5 years. I myself decided to try it for the first time today. I would say this location was meh. I got the pick two deal. I ordered a turkey sandwhich, create your own kinda deal, and spicy chicken enchilada soup. I got my order to go since I had to go back to work. I looked in the bag just to make sure the items were there. When I got back to work to my surprise my soup was chicken noodle, not even close, and my turkey sandwich was soggy and looked like a 5 year old put it together. I was so disappointed. I don’t like chicken noodle, so had to throw that out. Ate my sandwich because I was hungry. I don’t think I’ll go back to this specific location. I have had a better experience at Subway and that’s not saying much.

This place has good coffee. They aren’t very busy when I go in around 8 pm. They make each item so it takes a few minutes. The egg in the bagel breakfast sandwich was a greasy, which I don’t like.

They make delicious gluten-free sandwiches, and take care to cater to my multiple food allergies. I once walked off without one of my Sammie’s, and Lea took care of it. Made sure I was happy with the fix. Thank you!

The hot turkey club is amazing! Friendly and fast service, fair price. Four stars because the soups are so-so.

I LOVE the food here. Disclaimer, I have eaten only 1 item here, but I’ve done so, over and over and over again. The Mighty Mo, is this extraordinary combination of a ground beef mix, on a warm roll,(white or wheat), with veggies, 6in or 12in. The price is roughly $ 8.00 for the 12in, so it’s more expensive than subway(which is saying something), but what you get in return is better quality, better variety, fresher food, that for the average middle class suburbanite would appreciate.

Wasn’t sure what to expect when I ventured in, but was looking for a nice sandwich. Chose the hot turkey club(sans onions) and was very pleased with the results. The food is also brought to your table by kind staff. The deli also has a tv on the wall for catching whichever football game happens to be playing. My husband enjoyed the philly cheesesteak and my son the mac and cheese. All of which were very good. I would visit this deli again.

Last weekend I had a Mo picnic on marbled rye, it was so good. I too go to Subway normally because their sandwiches are okay and the price is right. I will buy this sandwich again, plenty of ingredients and it was good.

I left a note on my table as I left my sad over-priced meal today. I hate to write a bad review but it is just to inform people so they know what they are getting themselves into so they don’t wind up making a mistake I did. I had to take off work this week because I was sick, so feeling better back into work today and wanted some yummy chicken noodle soup. I went to Unilocal to see what places nearby had chicken noodle soup and this is conveniently located right by my office(should have gone to my go-to Whole Foods, but lesson learned). I ordered a half sandwich and half soup. Tuna on whole wheat and no extra mayo with chicken noodle soup all for $ 8 something. Here is what I got a tuna sandwich on WHITE bread, with LOTS of mayo and the soup was most definitely straight out of a can, no flavor, and no chicken and COLD. Wish I had only paid $ 4 for this upsetting«meal.» So for my future sickies looking for a pit stop for soup, DONOTGOHERE. Happy eating elsewhere.

So I was temping over in Louisville and received the job with no notice and didn’t pack a lunch. I wandered across the street to Smiling Moose for a new sandwich experience… I was greeted by nearly every member of the staff, informed of the daily special and then asked by 3 different people, «what would you like to order». The menu is quite large and it took me a minute to read it all. I ordered the harvest chicken wrap and the chicken enchilada soup. Sadly, I was served the garden de-lite. Still, I took 2 bites so I could try it.(It was very tasty) and then went up to get the wrap I ordered. They ended up letting me keep the wrong one and that was cool, cuz now I have dinner. The soup was really overly spicy, with no other flavor. I get the feeling its from a frozen base, water is added, and voila. Soup. This was a middle of the road experience, but the sandwiches/wraps are good enough to bring me back if I’m ever met with another opportunity.

Good quality food, and the lady who works there M-F is really nice. It is a bit expensive for a deli, so that why I gave it 3 stars.

One(1) star today, simply because Kevin, Bryan, Scott, and Tony need to clean house at the Louisville store, and start over. Is the food good? Absolutely! Diverse, and even somewhat innovative? Yep. Fresh ingredients, and freshly made? Of course. But, is the staff slow, disengaged, and pretty much checked out? Without a doubt. Guys, put down your spreadsheets, stop being happy with meeting abstract projections, and making your P/Ls work. You have real problems with simple staff management here. Today, for example, I walked in, no one in front of me in line, waited at the register with a drink, and readied myself to make a to-go order of $ 50 – 60. There were 2 young women, and 2 guys, most of the work being done by the males. And I waited, and I waited, and I waited. I checked my email, deleted some spam, answered a couple of business messages, and even did an entire continuing education lesson on my smartphone. Still no greeting from anyone, and the women simply talked, and talked, and talked. After several minutes, I placed my drink back in the cooler, and walked out. The BBQ(Dickie’s), and Qdoba next door are both very good, and either would have been a perfectly good option. I chose Chipotle, a few hundred feet up the street, but you see my point. Kevin, Bryan, Scott, and Tony: you’re out of your minds to be accepting of this behavior… and evidently you are, because it’s well-known in the community. If/when Smiling Moose disappears from Louisville, no one will starve, and, frankly, the fickle public will likely not even notice you are gone, as someone else will fill your space very quickly. Take your customers for granted, and you’re on your way to dead in the water.

Pricey, yes. Friendly, yes. Tasty, yes. I had a Mighty Mo(philly cheese), cup of chicken soup, and soft drink today. Had I JUST had the sandwich I would have given 5 stars. It was really tasty and didn’t leave me with the heavy feeling a REAL philly cheesesteak would have. However, in no way shape or form was that cup of soup worth $ 3.69. Made me wish I was at Panera since their creamy tomato is at least twice as good and the chicken noodle is slightly better. Maybe it is just that type, but soup just didn’t hit it for me. Someone else mentioned sweet tea, but I didn’t want flavored tea that was sweet. In all, I will be back, just not for soup.

Smiling Moose was a fanastic choice for lunch. We arrived around 11:30 and that was early enough that we could walk right up and order. There is a good variety of hot & cold sandwiches served on a fresh, warm kaiser roll. You can make your meal a combo with chips & a drink or you can do a half sandwich with a cup of one of their 4 soups. I ordered the Parisian sandwich with chicken, brie, avocado, and pesto. I think it needed more pesto but otherwise it was really good. The lunch date ordered the roast beef which was cooked perfectly… a little pink and very tender. The sandwiches each came with a pickle spear. There are plenty of tables indoors for seating as well as a few on a «patio» out front which is nice… if you don’t mind the traffic on McCaslin. I look forward to trying my next sandwich from here… maybe even breakfast since they have breakfast sandwiches too!
