I have to say you can’t judge a book by its cover. I was in Louisville for a couple of nights for my sons basketball games. I was looking for an inexpensive room for just me. The outside is not in great condition. I asked for a non-smoking room and I got a smoking room. I booked through Orbits so I am not sure what happened. The room was surprisingly better than I thought it was going to be. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom looked like it was recently redone, and AC/heater worked nicely. The wifi was like dial up when it worked and there are some guests that look like they call this place home. I would not have felt comfortable staying here with my wife and daughter but for a guy looking for a cheap bed it is great.

Do not stay here! The rooms are filthy and run down. The waitress at a restaurant close by told us it was a known hang out for drug dealers and prostitutes. This was obviously true based on the people and activities we saw going on in the parking lot. Front desk help for checking in is difficult to find. Worst hotel I’ve ever been in. Do yourself a favor and stay away!

Not so great, you get what you pay for. This Red Carpet Inn was the cheapest place in the area with decent reviews, so I decided to give it a shot. Let’s just say I didn’t have a great experience. The inside and outside of this place look very run down. Cleanliness was bordering on unacceptable. Dirty towels that weren’t even big enough to wrap around my 30-inch waist. Spots on the bed. Door locks that barely worked. The shower head was 5 feet high, so I had to bend like a pretzel to wash my hair. The bed squeaked and the bath tub creaked when taking a shower. The water was scolding hot when turned only halfway. Be careful! I booked through the Expedia app, but when I arrived, they seemed to have no idea what Expedia was. Okay, at least I would still be able to get the price that I was quoted at, right? Nope. Charged four extra bucks. I don’t get why places allow third party booking, but then don’t honor those reservations or prices. The only two things that stopped me from giving a 1-star rating are a staff that was otherwise friendly and the fact that I was able to sleep, despite the overall lack of comfort.

So I had come to stay a night here because I had an early morning event I had to prepare/wake up for. It was actually that 5k marathon, I am sure, most Louisvillians will know about. Anyway, so I get in at 7 p.m. yesterday and I see this squirrel charging up and down the front. Actually, the real front of the hotel is not facing the rooms. It is ALLTHEWAY around, 270 degrees from the front. In other words, it is facing some remote location. I get to the desk to check in and I have the paper in hand of the room I booked off trivago and the lady asks me when I checked in, how long ago, and all that. I HAVETHEPROOFRIGHTTHEREGOSHDANGIT! Then she was like«well, when you book it, we have to get this stupid print out to know it went through. Are you kidding me?! If I have evidence of booking, it is not good enough? So in other words, if I only had a budget for a $ 50 room, I am going to be on the street because I need the stupid printer to print out a paper that looks just like that! OMG! She then found my name and all was good. Phew. So then I get to my room and I open up the door to see everything was very nice. Well, good enough for a hotel, that looks like it would fall under a motel. I think it was promoted to a hotel just because it has 3-two story buildings located across from one another, giving it many rooms. So just by the sheer number of rooms would just knock it over a definition of a motel. The room I booked had a queen; a little table that one person could sit across from the other; some sort of desk(termed BUSINESSDESK), which I do not remember, if it had a chair or not; and a lamp that did not work. On cleanliness and everything else it was great. I would stay here again, depending on the location of my next brand ambassador event and if I could get the room for around $ 50. One suggestion would be to maybe get bigger body towels???

I stayed there recently while on business. My room was a non-smoking queen size bed, with a small round breakfast table and a small desk, two drawer dresser with table lamp and TV. Two chairs rounded out the amenities. The sink and bathroom areas were clean and sparsely populated. The towels are not large, but they are adequate and do the job. Full bath tub in the bathroom. A hanger rack is off to one side of the vanity. The room was comfortable and suited my purposes. The reason for 4 stars is that the room still had a slight cigarette smoke odor from years gone past. Not overwhelming, and the second day of use, upon arrival, I was not able to detect the smell. I will likely stay at this location again.
