This place is a nice find if you’re looking for bbq in Louisville. I had the pork sandwich plate with two sides for $ 8.50. The potato salad is awesome. They have sweet cornbread that is prepared like pancakes.

I like eating here because it’s close to home and good. Other than their seeming switching of managers all the time the food it top notch! Good prices good portions and nice atmosphere!

Pulled BBQ sandwich was good. Self-serve BBQ sauce bottle on each table. The thing most interesting is the onion on the sandwich. I’m not an onion person, but this was to die for. Hope it wasn’t just a good onion season to make this onion delicious. Pan-fried cornbread is really good. Sweet caring cash register clerk/waitress too. Most delightful visit… about 2 pm when not too crowded.

I road 12 hours from NJ to try this! Lol! j/k My son was accepted into Louisville so we are down here on a campus tour. I bookmarked this place bcuz I saw it on one of my foodie shows some time ago. I am a backyard pit master and man, they do not disappoint! The ribs were great, nice sides and nice service. What more can you ask for? We took 2 pork sandwiches to go for later. Hehe!

Best barbecue in the area… Period! Good smoked flavor and the sauce is excellent. Friendly staff, and good restaurant. One of the guys that works there even came by and did magic tricks for my son!

This place was off the chain. I walked in, it was practically empty. I hit it at the perfect time. It looked loved. Local event posters and local schools shirts were displayed. By the time I had finished ordering my food there were 12 people behind me… like I said, it was the right time to get there. The girl behind the counter told me their pulled bbq sandwiches were their signatures along with their cakes. She actually let me sample the types of meat for the sandwiches I was considering. I tasted the pulled beef and the pulled mutton. Both were amazing. The beef had better juices(bc it was a fattier meat…), but I ended up getting mutton bc it was just so dang tender. It melted in my mouth. I paired the sandwich with mac-n-cheese and cole slaw. Legitimately one of the best quick service meals I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was delightful. It was at my table within 5 or 6 minutes of ordering. A must try!

Let me start off by saying the food is great. There’s no doubt about that. I would just suggest dine-in only. I have had 4 experiences with them and only 1 of 4 was worth while. All of these were call-in, to-go orders. The first experience I had my food wasn’t ready when they said it was and then when I got back to work and checked my food, it was literally someone else’s food entirely. 2nd time I was put on hold for about 10 minutes, before I could order my food. Third time was great, no complaints everything was correct and my order was taken promptly. And the last experience I had with them was just now, I called and tried to place and order. I was asked«How can I help you.» Each time I expressed I wanted to place a to-go order I was put on hold(5 times total) until I just hung-up and got food else where. Again great food, the customer service for me has been really bad though.

Two words– pan-fried cornbread. One of the few things I’m happy about with our PCS to Louisville. The staff was friendly and everything on our plates was delicious. On a Wednesday night, there were few people dining in but the take-out business never slowed a bit. I avoid the place on weekends as it’s really crowded but the food really is that good!

Ate here for the first time today and I will definitely be back. The ribs were fantastic and I didn’t even add BBQ sauce. The potato salad and BBQ beans were delicious. Our party of 3 ate for $ 35 and it was a ton of food.

LOVE this place!!! Some of the better barbecue I have had in Louisville. I love their pulled pork sandwiches plates for lunch. Also comes with two sides and they don’t skimp on portions here. They also have barbecue hot sauce(store made I believe) and it’s really good I think. Not to hot but enough kick to know the difference. Only downside is there is usually a line out the door almost during peek lunch/dinner hours. Get here early!

Been here a couple of times with a buddy at work. My favorite is the peppers growing right inside the front door with the explanations to each. Oh, the food… it’s marvelous. The helpings are large and there is so much selection here that I always have such a hard time deciding what to get. The price range is a bit higher than I like paying for lunch, but I would go back again. The sweet tea I usually get cut half and it’s still super sweet.

We ordered yesterday 9⁄25 for 40pp and the food was out of this world! Not only that, but the service was incredible, everyone I spoke to there was friendly, professional and made my job very easy. We will definitely have Olé Hickory cater for us again!

Mutton and ribs! Mutton mutton mutton and ribs! My dad and I were on a trip in bourbon country and ended up going to this place after going to a movie theater near by. Did we stumble on a good one… Fairly priced, delicious, not overly sauced bbq. And some of the best red velvet cake ever. I’ve been to many bbq places across the country, and this is a good one.

My son and I have been blessed to keep discovering incredibly wonderful eating joints. Olé Hickory Bbq is such joint. The mutton sandwich was smoked, juicey and plentiful. Spare ribs meaty tender and perfectly seasoned. This is a must eat place if you are in the Louisville area. The red velvet cake which we had to take home because we were so full was the best I have ever ever tasted. It was light and delicious.

The ribs sometimes are a little tough and mutton should never be chopped, but the sauces are good as it gets and their sides are packed with flavor. The service is always excellent and very friendly. Downside is they are a little more pricey than other places around town.

The ribs were a little tough and the BBQ chopped beef needs a lot of help, sad that they didn’t have brisket. The sauces are good and some of their are sides are pretty tasty. The chopped chicken was good, but i don’t think i will be making a trip back for just that, this place is just good not excellent just good. The service was excellent when i was there and very friendly. If you are In Louisville looking for a Great BBQ place, try F.A.B.D which is very tasty and has a killer Brisket and easy to find. Now if you’re from Louisville then you should try Shack In The Back, they have some of the best BBQ in D’ville. Just take New Cut road past the Outer Loop, from there it;s about three miles right next to the marathon gas station

Hailing from western Kentucky, I’m fairly familiar with that style of BBQ. Mutton is a staple, smoked ham too, usually a vinegar-based sauce you can add liberally, and 2 pieces of white or rye bread with pickles and slices of onion on the side. Olé Hickory Pit off Shepherdsville Road hits all those marks but doesn’t exceed any expectations. Everything is simply OK, nothing spectacular. The mutton has a nice flavor, the BBQ pork good enough for my oldest to finish it off tout suite. The macaroni and cheese is yummy, hot and homemade but the BBQ baked beans are soupy and don’t really stand out. The décor is standard, homestyle country, a few picnic-style tables, a few booths, etc. Order at the counter service but the prices are a little on the high side for what you get. Truth is, I suspect that Olé HIckory Pit survives off the local take-out business, because the dine-in experience is somewhat lacking.

We went for lunch. Their BBQ meat is legit. Negatives — no buffet, slow service, and it’s more expensive than other BBQ in town. Good place if you’re going to be in town for a while, but if you’re passing through — Moonlight is a must.

Went here for lunch and it was ok. I had the rib tips and it was good. The side were tasty and price wasn’t too bad. Try it. Order at the counter and pick up your own food. G
