When it comes to massage, I am extremely picky and choosy! My mom has been a therapist for 27 years and I now what a massage therapist should ask and do! If my mother didn’t work 6 – 7 days a week and I saw her more than once a month, it would be easy to visit her… But I would rather not stress my mothers one day off in a month to massage e so Massage Envy was the next jump! The atmosphere is clinical, clean, and calming. Paying $ 59 a month for a massage or a facial is ridiculously inexpensive and a steal. I can get an additional for for $ 39 or an hour in a half for $ 59. Again, less expensive than anywhere in the city! The front gals and pals specialize in pairing you with a therapist that is going to best fit your specific needs, pressure, and modality. Your massage does not cost extra for deep tissue, foot work, reflexology, cranial sacral, etc. your session is customized to YOUR needs and desires. Yes, they are going to ask you a few questions when booking an appointment if you do not give them the type of massage you are looking for. It is considered a Therapeutic massage. Not a crappy massage like Z Salon and Spa or anywhere else in town has to offer. When it comes to massage, you don’t need to just relax. You need to work out the areas you experience tension, aches and pains, and tightness in. You can do it with a nice relaxation flow to keep you relaxed or stimulated! All you have to do is tell them what you want but a lot of people do not who was what they want. Again, that is why the questions they ask are so important! You may not know but they will help you figure it out. As for the people that think the selling is annoying. All they gals and pals are doing is their job. You are getting an introductory price of $ 50 to try out the membership, prices, modalities, and therapists to see if it works for you. If it doesn’t fit your budget or you weren’t happy… Okay! But if you are going to get that membership price, you can wait a minute to hear about what the membership can do for your life! Personally, it changed my life. I have committed to at least one hour in a half massage once a month since January and I can walk again. I was working 70 plus hours a week on my feet and could barely walk. I was in need of two surgeries and eventually both hips due to my body being completely out of place. My therapists found areas that I didn’t realize we’re causing issues. An injury five years ago left my left shoulder and arm having decreased range of motion and extreme pain. I didn’t realize the issues until my therapist worked out those areas. I felt like I had a new arm. This was also the case writhing every issue but, especially, my glutes! I have always been weird about anyone massaging me in general other than my mother but Massage Envy has made me a fan girl for life!!! Seriously, you leave massage drunk! Haha I don’t get a massage without their deep muscle therapy treatment! They use heating and cooling agents to decrease inflammation and alleviate your aches and pains. It also helps my joint discomfort that I experience from my two previous surgeries. I am 24 years old and I wS to, d by my chiropractor that I had the back of a 50 year old and the legs and feet of a 60 plus year old. I knew that I needed to make a lifestyle change and make cut backs so I could take care of me! And that’s what we all forget to do. We take care of everyone else before ourselves. I reached a point to where my pain and anxiety controlled my life. Thanks to Massage Envy, I can now take care of my family and friends better because I put ME first. I may not have my nails done monthly but I get a massage that has prevented and will continue to prevent me from future surgeries. It is a monthly investment that is shaping my life daily and for the future! You can’t just get one massage a year and expect to have it last! It’s like a freaking hair cut, maintenance is key y’all! My personal favorite therapists here are Kimberly, Whit, Daniel, Tim, Nell, and Casie! Thank y’all for leaving me like a zucchini noodle every time I leave ;)

I cannot recommend my massage therapist, Julie, enough. I get a lot of massages and this one was absolutely one of the best I’ve ever had. I explained exactly where I was hurting and she did an incredibly job and focusing on those areas, while not ignoring the rest at the same time. I got the deep tissue(sports) massage and it was AMAZING. I think it’s $ 12 extra but totally worth it. Massage envy is a no frills kind of place, so if you are looking for a true spa experience, I would look elsewhere. But if you just want a good, reasonably priced massage I highly recommend it. Ask for Julie! I will definitely be back.

Massage Envy is a pushy business there’s no doubt about it. It is annoying trying to be sold on their membership or always trying to do some sort of add on service. That being said, I really enjoyed my massage that I can look past the annoying components. It was very professional and a quality massage. If you’re ready for the offers and don’t mind politely turning them down, the actual massage experience is relaxing, clean, and professional. I would go back.

Great services! I have enjoyed coming to this location and recommend it to anyone in the St Matthews area. They are booked a lot when I call but I am spontaneous and it’s last minute so expected! The therapist I have had were professional and listened to what I needed. I went to school for massage therapy and know that they know why they are doing. Kudos to this location!

Massage Envy does not seem to have the best reviews, I wonder what people think they are getting when they go? It’s a chain massage spa-you pay a monthly fee for a year to be a «member» which means you get a massage or facial once a month and any more during that month is $ 10.00 cheaper each visit. When you walk in you are greeted by the staff, they ask if you have an appointment-and then they either show you to the waiting room or they tell you go back to the waiting room(obviously your first time there you will not know where that room is without assistance). The waiting room is quiet, dark and peaceful. It sets the mood for your coming treatment. Your therapist comes to the room and gets you, asks you what you need worked on. They give you 5 min to get undressed and ready for your massage or facial. The beds are heated(bonus for the cold winter months) the rooms are dark with adjustable lights. I have a therapist I always go too-maybe I have been one of the lucky ones. When you make your appointment you do need to tell them if you want a firm/deep massage or you will get a «floofy» massage, as I refer to them. They end the massage 5 minutes early so you can get dressed and be on your way. They walk you to the front and give you water and you check out. I have also had a facial here. They give you four different options(they use Murad brand). Once again the lady, Jenny that I had was friendly, knowledgeable and easy to work with. She did a great job. Some people don’t like the fact that it feels like an assembly line. I don’t mind this just for the fact that they have great hours(they stay open until 9 or 10PM on some nights) and you know you will always be on time. Clock-work! It’s the German in me-we like to stay on schedule :)

I had an appointment at the Middletown location which they cancelled the morning of because the masseuse had an emergency. I understand that. I called the St. Matthews location to see if I could get in there. I called after 10AM(when they are supposed to open) and left a message explaining the situation. I received no call back from this location. This does not bode well for the membership I just purchased. Very disappointed.

This location is closer to me than the Middletown location and I love a good massage. I’m pretty finicky about it, though. Lots of pressure here, here, and here. Go easy over there and, please, don’t even touch this. There are some weird things going on with my nerve endings. I explain all of this to the therapists whenever I get a massage and most of them are pretty awesome about following directions. It’s a tough job, adjusting your entire approach every hour or so, trying to just divine what will make someone all gooey and content. I’ve had a massage here by someone who talked the entire hour. Lookit, I’m antisocial and planning to use that hour to crawl into a dark crevice in my head and bliss out. I really don’t want to hear all about your chihuahua and your best friend’s goiter. I’ve had a massage by someone who practices some new age hokey pokey that involves laying hands and energy transference. Uh huh. Just knead that dough, sister. I have no energy and the stuff that does emit from me would make Hannibal Lecter blush. Be careful with all that. One of the really great things about Massage Envy is that they are a national(franchise) chain and they have locations all over the country. You can get a massage almost anywhere. The visits are transferable, also, so you can gift your unused visits to someone deserving. I gave one to my sister, recently. She’d never had a massage. She, apparently, got the good-gropey-make-me-want-to-buy-you-a-condo-in-the-city kind of massage. I think she asked the therapist if she was seeing anyone. I don’t mean to insinuate that the therapist was anything other than professional and skilled. I mean to insinuate that my sister is ornery.
