I can’t speak to the dim sum that many of these reviews refer to. My wife and I had the dinner buffet before heading to a movie. Initial impression was that it was not busy and the buffet was smaller than some similar restaurants. But size and crowd don’t make a dining experience, the food does. I’d like to say the food more than made up for initial impressions, however it did not. The food was pretty average. Some of the flavors were not bad but several of those dishes appear to have been out on the buffet for quite some time, allowing the protein to overcook and become very tough. Overall it could have been much better.

This was my first time trying dim sum and if this is it… I’m okay with that! We ordered several different portions and everything I tried was delicious(special shoutouts to #23 Spiced chicken and sweet rice, #46 baked puff with bbq sauce, #29 Nor Mai Gai, and the chicken feet). Make sure to ask for the red chili oil. The waitress was super nice, patient and helpful. She gave some great recommendations and did not steer us wrong. The place has an interesting layout, no booths but I like it. The cart didn’t come around too much(which I like) so you didn’t feel annoyed. Don’t be fooled by the portions because you will be full. You won’t regret it!

I tried Jade Palace lunch buffet last year after a long time away because of poor food. I was excited to find the food had greatly improved. Unfortunately the last two times I have eaten there they do not refill the buffet. the dried shriveled green beans sat there for 30 minutes without refreshing. The same was true of the lo mien which was almost empty and what was left was burnt. There were three or four other entrees that were dry and shallow. I finally said something twice and by the time I was leaving they finally brought fresh food. This was after waiting 40 minutes. I will have to try and find a new Chinese buffet. Sad!

Pretty good and they deliver. I am from NY and have myself believing that I am discriminating(in a blow-hard sort of way), and this was not the best Chinese food I have had but decent(and did I mention they deliver?). We had standard Chinese fare from them — moo goo gai pan, lo men, moo she, general so’s chip. All tasted just fine. If we felt like eating out, we would not choose this place but we will order from them again.

Enjoy the dim sum small plates for only $ 3 each. I like to play what I call«Dim Sum Roulette.» I try new morsels and have a different experience everytime! Dim sum cart available on Sat & Sun 11:30 am to 3:00pm.(Other times dim sum is menu order only). They offer a generic«Americanized» buffet but skip that less than ordinary food and go for the real Chinese menu(The Green Menu)! It’s much more authentic and delicious! The owners are said to have hired a true Chinese chef from Hong Kong, who keeps the recipes secret. The green menu is in Chinese but don’t worry they do list an English description under each item. The staff is friendly and remembers repeat customers.

If you’re looking for decent dim sum, this is the place! Every Saturday and Sunday late morning/early afternoon, dim sum is served traditionally on steaming carts or a la carte, I do not recommend any of the steamed dumpling type items except shumai and ha-gow. The dumpling skin/wrap is quite stiff and«waxy». Not really sure how else to describe it. The chili oil is a great accompaniment to your meal. Don’t forget to try their chrysanthemum tea. It’s really nice for brunch time. Definitely lighter than traditional black tea and more floral. We never skimp on the egg tarts or steamed buns! The service is decent and pretty laid back.

Never have I ever! I would have won this round ;) I have now enjoyed to-go and an enjoyable day dining in. Both experiences have been superb! From the speed of the plates coming out all the way to the flavor! You really can’t go wrong!!! I had never enjoyed dim sum until now! Well, minus Joy Luck. that’s fantastic too! ;) Each time we have shared the curry, chicken sausage rolls, pork dumplins, sweet and sour pork, duck, and orange chicken! The flavor and size of the dishes are ridiculous. Inexpensive and filled with flavor! Bravo!

I’ve been coming here for years for their Dim Sum on Sunday’s with my family, and it’s always been excellent. I’ve tried Dim Sum a few other places around the country when on travels, and Jade Palace reigns supreme! Just a couple years ago I finally came in on another day to try their regular menu and the lunch buffet; now it’s the only«Chinese Buffet» I will go to. Their dishes are freshly prepared, and the quality is excellent with distinctive flavors; reminds me of great Chinese places I’ve dined at in NYC and San Francisco.

The best dim sum we’ve found in Louisville so far. We moved not long ago from Dallas and were wanting a place with a good variety of delicious dim sum and Jade Palace has great options. Their regular menu is also very good.

Tried this spot while visiting family. The chicken feet and chicken were cold and steamed. We got in right before the rush and their selection is expansive. Most of the dishes were eaten earlier in the day, so we had to wait about 10 minutes. The best dishes were the Chinese brocolli, hot chicken feet, and crispy duck. We really enjoyed them! Highly recommended!

I return over and over again because of the dim sum and other menu items. The Sui Mai is fantastic and my personal favorite of the menu items is the Jade Palace Special fried rice. The service is great and the staff will remember you if you are a repeat customer. My only criticism is the buffet is not the best option, as the food tends to be a little dry. I have a friend whose family is from China and they come here because it’s the most authentic dim sum in Louisville. I come here for that and the fact that it’s just delicious food.

After I’ve been coming here for dimsum a few weeks in a row, I feel it is time to upgrade my rating to a 4. They must have gotten a new dimsum chef since my last review. Everything tastes more«correct». My favorites: black bean riblets, beef rice rolls(cheung fun), siu mai, radish cake, curried tripe and the cold ginger onion chicken. Hubby has also found his favorites: baked triangle BBQ pastry and the onion pancakes. Really, everything else I have had were not disappointments, either. Now I want to come back and see what their dinner menu is like. I still think the service is a bit slow for a dimsum place. But I think I am just used to the Chinatown places where they quickly throw your dishes on the table and expect you to eat fast so the tables can be turned faster. The dimsum experience is more relaxed at Jade Palace. My game plan at Jade Palace: check out the carts that go by, then order things I do not see on the carts from the server; then continue to eat while checking out other carts that go by. Some other seasoned diners just skip the carts all together and order from the server directly. Just remember, it is a faux pas to order from the cart pushers, their only job is to make sure the carts get around all of the tables… not an easy feat when there is a full dining room of hungry people staring at you.

It looks a little scary but it is so, so not. This hot spot offers a veggie tofu hot pot that rocks my socks!!! I order off of the green menu(it’s not entirely in Chinese). Service was fine, not great, place seems clean enough and I mean to tell you — the food is super amazing.

The Dim Sum at the Jade Palace meets and at times surpasses my favorite Dim Sum restaurants in NYC. Kudos to the chefs for making my shumai and har gow(shrimp dumplings), steamed dumplings(Char siu baau) and my favorite… chueng fun(rice noodle stuffed with pork) and we cannot forget dessert… jeen duey(lotus paste wrapped in soft dough with sesame seed). Dim sum is a must for food aficionados and if you are in Louisville this is the place to go!

If you love sharing, this is the place to be. They have dim sum here! On weekends, you can get the push cart experience but the service can be a little slow. Some of my favorite dim sum dishes includes chicken feet, honey comb tripes, turnip cakes, and the egg tart. They also have onion pancakes which are so good! If you get hot tea, they will charge you per cup.

When I think of the best meal I’ve ever eaten, I think of dim sum from a Chinatown restaurant in San Francisco many years ago. My boyfriend and I had the day together to explore, and we found our way to this tiny restaurant that kept the delicious baskets a-comin’. It was a great day and a fantastic meal that I’ll never forget. So you can understand how dim sum has a special place in my heart(and my stomach). Anytime I eat it, it’s with friends or on a special occasion. And I finally got to try Jade Palace’s dim sum when some friends were visiting town. We weren’t disappointed. Was it the dim sum I’ve had in San Fran and other bigger cities? No. But was it great for the price and worth many repeat visits? Absolutely yes. We started with some tea, and the group of five of us went to town picking items to try from the menu. The small plates ranged in price from $ 2.50 to $ 4.99 each. Jade Palace doesn’t have carts like I’ve seen in other dim sum restaurants but rather you pick from the menu and they bring it out to you. Among the items we enjoyed were the pan-fried stuffed peppers, rice in grape leaves, roast duck and custard. The duck was the favorite among my cohorts.(I’m not a big fan of duck, but I trust them that it was delicious.) My favorites were the pork buns, sesame balls, red bean paste buns and lotus paste buns. All but the pork buns are sweet, and I think I could eat all of these every day. The pork buns were bite-sized portions of meat-y deliciousness in a soft pastry puff. More restaurants need to serve pork buns in Louisville. Our Jade Palace server was great about timing the dishes, so that we got to work on a few while the others were being prepared, cutting down on the time a basket would cool while we’re eating something else. And after getting thoroughly stuffed, the final bill only came to about $ 25 per person. I hear that Jade Palace also serves hot pots. Can’t wait to go back and try that soon!

In Louisville, we lack a bit of variety when it comes to Chinese. That isn’t to say we don’t have a number of places, but most are the run of the mill strip mall variety. It’s $ 6.50 for a mediocre combo of General Tso’s chicken and fried rice. I keep searching for something a little bit better. Jade Palace is at least a step in the right direction. A group of friends and I went here recently in order to try the dim sum menu. While it is not exhaustive, it is extensive and reasonably priced. I was a fan of both the pot stickers as well as the different varieties of pork buns. The service was fast and for what you get, I have no complaints. Take a group of 5 – 6 people that way you can order everything to share. You’ll miss out on trying things with less and multiples of three mean that no one has to fight over that last shrimp dumpling. Prices vary depending on what you order, but everything was tasty and hot things were hot and cold were cold. I am a fan and while I won’t necessarily frequent the establishment as it’s a bit out of the way, I do plan on being back.

Wow! We came for lunch and it was a nice surprise! The lunch buffet was already over(we went at 2:30pm) so we ordered both from the breakfast and lunch menu. Service was a little slow and even though the place was not full we still had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated and get our menus. The food itself was delicious and the pork fried rice was one of the best I’ve had. I loved how the menu had pictures so you could actually see what you were ordering! Definitely coming back!
