This used to be my favorite redneck dive bar. Last time I was there, there were three of us sitting outside at a table and another gentleman sitting at the other table. A guy came out and asked all three of us to move to the other table so that Freddie could sit. Of all the establishments I have ever been in I have never encountered this type of total disrespect. We all left… Fuck Freddy and his bar.

More people need to know about this place. This bar is near downtown and a good alternative to those other downtown bar. This is a place to go when you actually want to be able to hear your friends over some drinks at a booth, over playing some darts, or a couple of bar video games. If you’re just in the mood to drink alone this is also a good place to sit and ponder. This bar has a «Touch Tunes» Juke Box so you can play songs from your smartphone app and not have to worry about playing that embarrassing song that you love. ;) Like the bar itself, the bartenders are a bit older– Jack and Paul– and these guys are awesome company with some good stories. The bar itself is filled with a lot of memorabilia… I’ve been there many times and it seems I always find something on the shelves or walls that I haven’t seen before. Though it would be nice to sit on some comfier booths, I kind of like that old type feeling in this place. Most of my time is usually with a group of friends at the bar. Give this place a try with some friends. Type of crowd that gathers here is all across the spectrum so check it out! One thing though– CASHONLY.

Throwback Thursday is everyday. Freddie’s is a great downtown dive bar. The owner Freddie is a big boxing fan I presume because there is boxing memorabilia everywhere. The service is well… non existent. Patrons are encouraged to drink in celebration or in sorrow, but no need to chat up the staff for expect prebusing. There are some great pinball machines and the prices can not be beat for a beer or cocktail. You will not find any fancy martinis in this place, but you will find a low key time to regroup. Make sure to bring cash, because there are no fancy credit card machines to keep a tab. Freddie may be there, but there are typically local actors hanging inside that stay at the W.G. while in town.

Flippin Sweet! Old school and awesome. Met the bartender, Paul, who knows tons of great stories from working there for about 30 years. The clientele is surprisingly friendly at 4:30−5 on a Friday. Cheapest drinks downtown and no need to advertise b/c all those in the know already know if you know what I mean. There is a thick Munster’s style layer of dust on everything which I personally enjoyed, but I suppose someone with allergies might review this differently. Freddie(who is in his 90s) comes in once a day unless he comes in at night too, then it’s twice a day(thanks for clearing that up Paul). Juke box, dart machine, old boxing memorabilia, and booths help to round out the place. Had a great time and looking forward to the return visit, hopefully for a meet and greet with Freddie!

If you’re 60+ this is a place for you. At one time they had a cat and it was cool. I don’t know if we caught him on a bad night, but Freddie was bartending and he’s a miserable old jerk. My mother-in-law, who’s never met a stranger, and is no stranger to dives or old man bars, tried to have a conversation with him, just small talk and he was a complete jerk to us.

Freddie’s Bar and Lounge is a great«old-man» bar that offers no frills, which in my option is the best kind of place when you just want to grab a few drinks and to be left alone. They are walking distance from most downtown hotels and are cash only, so be ready for that.

Old-school bar, open for almost 50 years, and barely changed in that time. Plenty of booths, dark enough to see, but not too well, and all the basic beers and liquors for cheap. Great place for a quiet drink.
