Stopped in for dinner last night and the place was pretty busy for a stormy Thursday night, so had a short wait. No problem as we weren’t in a hurry. Greeter was not so friendly and nor was our waitress, no hellos or asking us if we had been in before. Waitress asked us if we wanted something more than water and if we were ready to order and never asked if I wanted a second beer… One positive of the night, food was really good. Hopefully the employees were just having a bad day and this is not the norm, unfortunately I won’t be back to find out.

We went for the Sunday brunch and the food was very good! I had the biscuits and gravy and it was a lot of food. Other people had the French toast brioches and everyone loved it.

Wow is all I can say. Came in here for dinner and some wine. The wine list is amazing great selection. The food is great as well I loved everything I ordered. You must get the cheese and pretzels! They are warm and soft with a strong cheese to sip in. The mushroom soup was great super earthy and salty. The spatzel ball started was great with a spicy dipping sauce. We also got the warm egg salad which was great super meaty. The bread pudding is great not too sweet and full of ginger flavors. The only downfall was our server was kinda rude.

Why have I not come sooner?! I took my daughter here last weekend for our date-day lunch and it was amazing. I had the Sliding Scale brussels sprouts dish and the Upper Meadow salad — both equally delicious. The brussels sprouts were on the heavier side so I took most of it home(no one boxes up a salad — think ahead), but they made for great leftovers. The kiddo had the classic burger and fries and had a hard time keeping me off her plate ;). Service was great — we got there early and were in and out quickly. They had crayons to keep her occupied, which was nice(you never know with smaller restaurants). I’ll DEFINITELY be back.

My wife and I arrived at around 8:30 or 9:00 on a pleasant Saturday night. There were parties sitting at the outside tables, and at about half the tables inside. Our server was friendly and reliable. Beer cheese was tasty. I had the Abratna Brew. The brat was excellent, and the chips had just the right amount of salt and truffle oil. I wasn’t thrilled by my cocktail, something made with Bulleit bourbon, but I think it was just a bad choice by me.

There were some clear highlights in our meal starting with the beer cheese. The pan-fried lobster cake was nothing short of spectacular, everyone in our party raved about it. The sausage was one of the best entrees but sadly, the crepes were just okay and the Delmore Stew was not great.

Eiderdown is the coziest fancy restaurant in town. Fabulous food served in a warm atmosphere. Great spot for a romantic evening and/or a cozy night out with family/friends. The food is thoughtfully prepared, rich, hearty, and delicious. I recommend this spot whole heartedly!

I have been to Eiderdown a few times now, and have enjoyed each visit. It’s a small local place with an interesting menu. It’s a nice place, but somehow casual and comfortable at the same time. On this visit, I was intrigued by a cocktail special. The drink was called«Cold Day,» and contained tequila, habanero syrup and lime juice. I was curious but slightly apprehensive about the habanero. I like peppers and spice, but do not enjoy Scoville units simply for the endorphin rush. In order for me to enjoy heat, it needs to bring something to the flavor party. Despite my initial misgivings, I ordered a Cold Day. I am very glad I did! This was a wonderful drink: so good that I had to order a second one. It was something like an excellent margarita(one made the right way, without sweet and sour mix) with a delicious slightly spicy edge. I really enjoy the beer cheese. I don’t think it’s spectacular, but it is very satisfying, especially served with bread from Blue Dog Bakery. Eiderdown is a bit spendy, but my partner and I employ the strategy of ordering a starter or two to share, and sharing one entrée between us. On this visit, we chose the duck confit. The duck confit is excellent. So good, in fact, that it could easily become a favorite of ours. We have only ordered dessert on one occasion. It was an intriguing combination, including pound cake, berries and basil, but to our taste, the pound cake was unpleasantly dry. Four of us were splitting the dessert, and we still left most of it on the plate. Apart from the dessert, we really like Eiderdown. I’m sure we will return again and again.

Was able to sample the following: Wìesn Balls(Which are fried spätzle, sauerkraut, white cheddar served with sambal mayo) was not a fan of mayo, it was oddly sour. And the balls themselves needed salt, of which there was none provided to us at the table. Beer Cheese we ordered these with fries and it was an excellent dish. The fries were good and the cheese was warm and tangy Abratna Brew(Which was a bratwurst served with sauerkraut and caramelized onions on a Pretzel bun served with sea salted & truffled chips and a can of Stroh’s. The menu said the brat came with mustard, but if there was any I could not detect it. And it needed mustard desperately, the brat and bun were too dry for the onions to help on their own.

Stumbled upon Eiderdown while trying to find something open on Sunday. Seeing German food, I was all in! We started with the Wisen Balls, which was deep fried spätzle, and cheese. They were insane! So good. For lunch I had the Abratna Brew. Bratwurst in a great bun with homemade sauerkraut and a spicy mustard. It came with truffle chops but I elected to have their fries, which were some of the best I’ve had. My meal also came with a beer! Not bad! Love it. Can’t wait to try more.

This is a fantastic place for a large group brunch on Sundays! My friend rented the large room in the back and fit over 20 people comfortably. This was my first time and I had a very hard time deciding what to get for brunch. Although I liked my brioche French toast, I should have gotten the biscuits and gravy! The French toast was extremely sweet and drenched in syrup. If you prefer less, you will want to request it on the side. The biscuits and gravy were huge! Most people took a little bit home. The biscuits were buttery, thick, but also light and moist. There was a generous helping of the gravy that had sausage in it. The servers were very nice, even though they were very busy with our large party. It did take awhile to get everything out(expected with our numbers) but they got drinks and apps out quickly. If definitely like to sample their more heartier fare, though it does get more expensive for dinner.

Wow this place is way above average. The staff is warm and friendly. The food is really on point. I had what was likely the most perfectly cooked duck I’ve eaten in my entire life. So tender and just packed full of flavors. It’s served with a unique scalloped potato which was simply yummy. I top of the potato was a somewhat strange stuffing which I couldn’t identify the ingredients. I will say that was a bit weird and I could have did without it. However with that said it in no way detracted from the meal. I also had for dessert a chocolate mouse which was really delicious and very rich. I would highly recommend it. This would be a great place to bring a date, or come for any occasion. It’s got a great atmosphere. Although I did not partake, I’m told their wine selection is one of the best in town.

How have I not review this yet! I have been here before I official moved here! This is a favorite place of my sisters and holds a high spot in my favorite places. I have tried many things here and I think their menu changes with the season. It is diffuicult to describe their duck fat popcorn, other than saying it is amazing. Their beer cheese is a perfect combo of beer and cheese. i’m from WI so I know a good beer cheese when I taste it and this is it.

Eiderdown has never let me down, and it just keeps getting better with each new visit. I love that their entrees change pretty frequently so that there’s always something new to try. I do have some favorites though – obviously, the duck fat popcorn and the beer cheese with pretzel sticks. Also, the Mos’ Entennest(duck leg confit) blows my mind.

Went here for the first time over the weekend and I’m already excited to return! I was told I had to get the duck fat popcorn. I did and it was pretty good. Not as great as I imagined, but still tasty. I for my entrée, I ordered«DPs always hit you». It was AMAZING! Beets, latkes, pecans, and a carrot cream sauce. So tasty and fairly healthy! I thought about ordering another one to go for lunch the next day. My friends got a variety of entrees from the«Sunday sit down» to the spatzle, and thoroughly enjoyed them. We ended the dinner with the cinnamon roll, and I fell in love. It was soooo tasty! I will definitely be coming back again! One of my new favorite restaurants now! I love the food, the décor, and the vibe!

This is my third time eating here and every time has been outstanding! The atmosphere is really hipster lots of exposed brick and drift wood tables. They have tons of amazing beers at that bar. Try those first. The duck fat popcorn and the goat cheese crepes are amazing! Then I had the Sunday sit down for the main course. The chicken, greens and grits felt just like soul food. We finished off with some kind of chocolate crème thing that came with two peanut butter cookies that made me want to sing God Bless America! You e got to give this place a try!

Nice old style décor. Watch where you sit; the floor is uneven. We were patrons #5& #6 at 5:00. When we left an hour later, we were patrons #5& #6. I had a vegetarian dish with a carrot sauce. It was good. Mike had the burger & fries. The burger came with only cheese. Tomato & lettuce were $ 1 extra. Someone reviewed it as «the best d*#n burger they have ever had». That person needs to get out more. Mike’s review is «it was like a hockey puck.» I ordered a flight of 4 beers. Three out of the 4 tasted like they had vinegar in them. I found that very unusual & disappointing. This is not a place we will return to.

I’ve had great experiences dining at Eiderdown over the past few years — but this review is for a private party my(now) husband and I hosted in their side room in mid-June 2015. We were looking for a casual but nice restaurant with a good, friendly and comfortable atmosphere to host our after-wedding ceremony-dinner with our parents and siblings.(Party total — 19, including three children.) We wanted to be responsible with costs and didn’t think our families would enjoy fancy or «fussy» — but knew we wanted something that still felt like us. We didn’t need wine pairings or bourbon tastings. No fancy linens either. We wanted good vibes, good food, and we needed a place that would allow kids. After considering a few other venues, I spoke with Heather(Eiderdown’s owner) and she was AWESOME. Super flexible, accommodating and responsive… She worked with us on price-per-person and we selected a four-course menu to fit our party.(Our menu consisted of shared apps, family-style salad, choice of six entrees, and choice of dessert. Kids’ meals were also provided for a smaller fee.) There was no venue fee. No minimum fee. Heather allowed us to come in and decorate the space a few days in advance and she re-arranged the room to accommodate our group. She provided votives/candles and she had no issue with us bringing a small wedding cake to cut/serve on the side.(My mother insisted on that for tradition-sake.) All in all — incredibly happy with our decision to host our wedding-night dinner at Eiderdown. The service was great. The space was pleasant and the perfect size. Heather and her team went above and beyond and I(we) thank the Eiderdown crew for helping us celebrate that night.

I have dined at Eiderdown many a time, but never like tonight. We hosted our dinner club here for this month and it was perfect. First of all, we had the private room to the side of the dining room and it was well decorated and the ambience(with candles and such) was so intimate feeling. We arrived slowly, in groups, on this wednesday after work… but our server was so patient with us and understanding of our arrival times and our needs as guests. There were about 17 of us in all, not the easiest table. The drinks were fast to come to the table and our server(s) were helpful in timing our orders correctly as well. I ordered some wine and also split the beer cheese of the day, but subbed the fries for the bread. Excellent choice, as always! For my dinner I decided on the Henry Althaus salad(bacon lardons on the side). This is one of my favorite salads in town because the egg is always poached so perfectly and the parmesan cheese is always such a delight and makes the salad. All in all, the whole package of this place is definitely worth your time and money. Also, this place was one of the first cool places in Germantown. I love Eiderdown for taking such good care of our group and serving us premium food and drinks. Get yourself out to Eiderdown if you haven’t done so already.
