Delicious food, great drinks, good atmosphere! Not a Louisville native, but this place is definitely a new go-to when we’re in town! Make sure to try the Fish On Rye — so good! And the mead is a fantastic, refreshing treat.

Great beer and great food. Sometimes it’s crowded and the service suffers but I love this place.

First time that I had Bison. So yummy, especially the Bison chilly. The place is really cool with own brewery and(positive) laid back staff. If I ever come back to Louisville, I’ll come again.

Cumberland is one of the places I try to stop at every time I am in Louisville. The place is very casual. Their food is good, their beer is good, and the service is friendly. They have the best Buffalo Chicken sandwich I can find.

One of my favorite places for a Saturday afternoon. The beer is phenomenal and the food is superb.

Worst service ever. We have been coming here for years and it just keeps getting worse and worse. It’s so painfully slow — finally it made it to our banned list — sorry Cumberland. We are never coming back and our friends never will either.

Went to Cumberland’s last evening for a Derby City Whisker Club meeting. They have given us the top floor of the restaurant which I thought was pretty rad of them. Their Thursday night special was a steak and a beer for $ 12.00. $ 12 bucks! Seriously? I came out perfectly cooked to order with some fries and a Crème Ale that I chose. The staff was very attentive to all of us and was always making the rounds filling beers and taking plates. This could be a regular Thursday night for me. Parking can be difficult, but I didn’t mind walking a couple blocks at the peak hour.

We came here on a Sunday afternoon to watch the end of the packer football game. It’s not the best location to watch a game because the tv is not located in a spot that is easy to watch, but it was fine. The restaurant is a really cute kind of hipster spot. They have about 10 beers that they brew in house on tap, and the ones we tried were really good. We had the moonbow wit, pumpkin ale, and the pale ale. All day happy hour on Sunday’s, too! We were hungry so we shared the black bean nachos and the fried green tomato tacos. Both were surprisingly really, really good. The nachos are totally loaded and baked and the tacos had just enough«stuff» on them. The place is small with only a few tables and a little bar space. If it’s nice weather, sit on the patio! The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is because the people working just weren’t very friendly… They were attentive, though.

I met a friend for a small get together & had a really good time!!! Although I didn’t eat(wasn’t hungry at the time) they have a great menu selection. Next time I’m there I’ll definitely try the fish tacos because they looked amazing!!!

Cumberland is right around the corner from where we live. It’s a laid back, small local brewery with a very casual feel. The food: The food is overall really good — especially for bar food. I recommend the fried green tomatoes and the bison burger. The fries used to be amazing(we would go there just for fries and beer sometimes!) but they must have changed vendors because they definitely aren’t as good as they used to be. The beer: I don’t love the beer at Cumberland but there are several that I like and think are solid. My favorite regular beers are the red ale and the IPA. For seasonal beers, the pumpkin and coconut porter are both very good. While the service can be slow sometimes, the staff are always friendly. I recommend checking out Cumberland!

The coconut porter is hands down the best beer I’ve ever had! I’ve frequented Cumberland Brews numerous times recently, and it has quickly become my favorite brewery. Their beer can’t be beat. This is definitely 5 star beer, so I had to update my review. Their coconut porter is on tap right now, and it is amazing. I seriously have to fight the urge to come here everyday and drink that beer. I love it. Their nitro porter is still a solid choice, and probably my second favorite beer ever. But that coconut porter… I need it in my life. Also, I’ve tried even more menu items and everything has been delicious. Their beer battered mushrooms are heavenly. You really can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. If you love beer, you must go here.

Good local brewery with great food! The«quesadilla of the day» is always fun! I recommend the Nitro Porter for dark beer lovers. Their pale ale or IPA are solid choices as well with the hop forward kick and relatively low IBUS52.5 and 75 respectively.

Tonight had the siracha quesadilla to start. Two delicious crème ales and a pale Tenderloin for dinner and I’m set

Although I did not partake in the beer, we were there for a party and shared several apps. I had the BBQ quesadillas and they were excellent! We also got the chocolate bundt cake which was a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth. Our waitress was really fantastic especially on a busy day with a large crowd!

I’ve been to Cumberland a couple of times, and I was so very pleased both visits. As a beer snob, this place is heaven; I’m pretty sure there isn’t a bad one on the menu, and they’re all stellar. Three words: sweet potato fries. Get them. I always plan on sampling the lighter beers, but my dark beer addiction always keeps me visiting their nitro. It’s perfect for cold weather as well as a sunny, warm day. Otherwise, there’s a great selection of sandwiches. This southern girl was ecstatic to see a fried green tomato sandwich. Perfection! This was actually the locale of my and my husband’s first date, so we’re a tad bit biased. But seriously, it’s consistently great.

Lovely brew pub in the Highlands, with lots of charm and delicious food. They have really good values on weekly specials for Growlers, a Bison burger & Beer combo and on Thursday a beer and a steak special for $ 10. I love the Mead beer, they make it there. The vats of beer are right there on display, which is cool. Upstairs area is a hidden gem, with comfy leather chairs and a sofa. Very nice place.

Last minute dinner plan with one of my friends. We always love coming here. Its usually so nice and chill in Cumberland. We each had a a beer(i recommend either the pale ale or the nitro porter-both on their regular lists). We also shared the cheese fries, which was pretty much the whole reason we landed there for dinner. They are perfectly cooked and have the most delicious layer of both their cheese dip and shredded cheeses too. Plus some raw diced tomatoes if you want them. We left them off bc my dining partner doesn’t dig them. Still amazing without. For dinner i ordered the quesadilla of the day which had brussel sprouts, onions, green peppers, broccoli, and rice… and of course cheese. It was tasty. Erick ordered a chicken sandwich. We both enjoyed our dinner. Plus, it just so happened to be pint night. Yay to discounted beers! If you have never been or never had food here, you must do it soon. Some of my other menu favorites: black bean nachos and fried green tomato tacos.

The beer was great; Nitro Porter and Winter Warmer. The cheese fries are the best. Louisville should add best cheese fries to their local restaurant contest. Cumberland would win. I need to go back to try some more of their beer and food. The fish tacos were good, as well.

Not only is the owner awesome, but the beer is spot-on! I always love the specials and the cream ale is delicious. Sometimes service can be slow but the family-service feel makes up for it. The food has also been pretty awesome! The shrimp quesadilla special was awesome and very cheesy(aka amazing).

I’m not really sure what originally happened, but I know that my boyfriend wasn’t too keen to dine or drink at Cumberland Brews. I think it was part unfounded beer snobbery, part legitimate bad experience, but it was always vetoed. So imagine my surprise when he called me earlier tonight to see if I wanted to go with him and some of our friends for dinner at Cumberland Brews. It seems a friend had convinced him to give it another shot, and happily, Cumberland Brews has redeemed itself in his book. Yes, I could have eaten here without him all along, but now we have a new regular spot on Bardstown Road to dine at – together. I’ll let him describe his experience in a review I hope he writes, but from my perspective, the food was great and speedy and the beer was above average. I had a Moonbow Wit, a citrus-y brew. Wit-style beer — Belgian wheat beers — have become a new favorite of mine, and while this is not my all-time favorite wit, I’d definitely welcome another pint of it. And for dinner I got the bison burger with bacon and bleu cheese crumbles — you get to pick a cheese and topping for the burger — and I upgraded to sweet potato fries on the side. This burger was very filling, very large. It was cooked medium, just how I ordered it. And the sweet potato fries were the right proportion of sweet to salty. If you’ve read some of my other reviews, you may have noticed that I have a bit of a thing for sweet potato fries. I’ve had the great and the bleck. These definitely skew on the great side of the spectrum. The appetizer portion of sweet potato fries also comes with cinnamon sugar cream cheese dip. Didn’t get to try this with the side order but will have to get some when I go back. It should also be noted that this burger and fries upgrade was more than $ 10 — a little steep for a burger, but then again it was very yummy. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, and I like that you can see where the beer is made in this small micro-brewery/restaurant. There is also the upstairs that is great for groups and sidewalk seating that’s optimal for people-watching along Bardstown Road. Cumberland Brews pre-dates the current craft beer craze, so it’s nice to drink at a place that has a bit of a history of brewing. And now that it’s off of the black list, I can’t wait to go back.
