Wow! What a great experience. We were visiting Louisville for the weekend and were looking for a place that was a little different(not the typical gastropub menu). I checked Unilocal, found Asiatique, and thought that it looked interesting. I was a little concerned about some of the reviews that I saw that indicated that dining here could be a disappointing experience. I am very, very glad that I did not let those negative-ish reviews dissuade me from picking this restaurant. First of all, the food was very good. We decided to go with small plates. We got the crab and goat cheese spring rolls, the short ribs, the mussels and the chicken satay. Every one of these was something I would get again, but I would eat those spring rolls every day of my life if I could. Very nice. The highlight of the evening was a combination of the bourbon selection and the service. The restaurant has an extensive bourbon list, but no listed bourbon flight on the menu. I asked our server, Jeromy, about this and he said that he could put one together for me. He asked me some questions about what I was looking for, I described my concept to him, and he prepared something for me that was really special. He hit it out of the park. This was an above and beyond activity and it made my night really fun. I am not looking to invalidate anyone else’s experience. I just know that if I had let the negative reviews dissuade me from dining at Asiatique, I would have missed a really special dining experience. Ask for Jeromy.

Yes, the smell upon entering is quite unfortunate and off-putting, but I couldn’t perceive it from the restaurant seating, and there’s apparently nothing that can be done about it, so I’m not holding it against them here. The menu had a number of things I would like to try, so I’ll be back, but on this one occasion we had the ahi sashimi appetizer($ 10), the shrimp dumplings($ 10), and the mahi with veg in a Sri Lankan curry($ 26). The ahi and mahi were very good, but the dumplings were mediocre(too doughy, for one thing) and quite overpriced. Next time I’ll try the calamari; a reputable source assures me they do it well here.

The food was so great!!! I had 4 small plates: the tuna sashimi, crab meat and goat cheese spring rolls, tea eggs, and Parmesan mushroom soup and a Geisha cocktail with lychee infused vodka. Everything was so delicious and the service was phenomenal! The bartender and the Chef were very welcoming and made great menu recommendations. Definitely coming back here the next time I’m in Louisville!

Tried Asiatique for the first time during 502 Restaurants week. Went with a group of 2 couples… Here’s a quick breakdown. Food: 4 stars — Had the chicken satay and mussels appetizer. Both were delicious! The mussels came with naan for dipping and the chicken was grilled to perfection. Had the pork shank as my entrée… So bomb! Definitely try it if you’re not a vegetarian. For dessert I had the banana lumpia, basically a banana wrapped in an egg roll skin and fried. A little too greasy for my liking, should have gone with the dark chocolate torte which a friend ordered — that’s a chocolate lovers dream! Atmosphere: 2 stars — Just gonna go ahead and say it — the restaurant smells like a men’s bathroom when you first walk in. Not sure if they’re having a plumbing issue? But it’s pretty unappetizing. Someone in our group mentioned it smelling super fishy? Either way it took a decent amount of wine before the smell was less bothersome. Probably going to wait a while before going back to this restaurant. Maybe just get takeout so you don’t have to deal with the funky smell.

I decided to take advantage of Asiatique’s 502 Restaurant Week’ menu by taking my wife there for our date night. 502 Restaurant Week is an annual event in which a number of Louisville Restaurants offer a special menu for either $ 50.20 per couple or $ 50.20 per person for the pricier participants(such as Morton’s Steakhouse or the Napa River Grill). It is a great way to try out a new restaurant. Asiatique’s 502 menu offered the choice of appetizer, main course, and dessert for each person. Although the full menu wasn’t available, there was a wide variety of options to choose from, to the point where I had trouble deciding what to get. For the appetizer course I decided on the Chicken Satay and my wife on the Poached Pear Salad. Both were delicious. The chicken for the Chicken Satay was perfectly cooked and the peanut sauce was a wonderful compliment to the dish. The Poached Pear Salad was recommended by our server. The pears were poached in a Cabernet Sauvignon but maintained their firmness and the goat cheese added a nice counterpoint to the sweetness of the pears. The greens were very fresh and completed the salad nicely. For our main course I decided on the Pork Shank, and my wife had the Tofu, which was prepared with ginger dust, saffron risotto, vegetables, and asian romesco. The Pork Shank was beyond delicious. Pork is one of my favorite dishes, but since our home made meals are mostly vegetarian, I only get to enjoy it when we eat out. This particular dish was cooked beautifully, the meat was very tender, almost but not quite falling from the bone. The pork was slow braised with bourbon and espresso and garnished with edamame, chick pea, and crisp spinach. This is a dish you should definitely try when you go to Asiatique. My wife was equally impressed with her tofu having a crispy outside and creamy inside with an amazing pepper sauce. She told me that she had never had better tofu in her life. For dessert we had the torte and the banana lumpia. Although these were good, they both fell a little short when compared to our appetizers and main course choices. If I went again I’d probably skip the dessert. The only minor disappointment was that our runner brought the next courses in far too soon, not allowing us to fully enjoy our meal. In fact, he brought our desserts out before we even finished with our main course meal and had to be asked if he could bring them after we had finished. But I think that he was still learning and our server was very apologetic about this slight inconvenience. Although there were a few small negatives to our experience the main dishes were so good I think five stars are definitely warranted. Asiatique seamlessly fuses Asian and European cuisine to provide a wonderful fine dining experience.

My husband and I went for NYE, and it was so much better than I imagined! We had last had some small plates and drinks in the downstairs area(I always forget how big the place is), but this time was more formal. The 4-course meal was only $ 45(about $ 6 – 8 in savings if it wasn’t courses), and it was lovely. I especially loved the beef entrée. Whatever they marinate it in — the server said there are like 50 ingredients — really makes it tasty. I couldn’t get enough! The crème brûlée was good except for the ginger flavor(my husband liked it), and the lamb appetizer was really quite filling and good with the sweet potato nest. I think a lot of folks forget about this place. Brett and I both agree we would go back — especially when we are craving beef!

Asiatique hits fusion cuisine right on the head. They also have a swanky bar and great outdoor dining patio/porch to boot! I visited recently with a group, where we were able to take advantage of the private dining room. The restaurant itself is conveniently located in the Deer Park area of Bardstown Rd, and has a split-level setup. Enter on level 1 and you’ll be struck by the unique bar. It has a wavy, frosted glass on the bottom portion, and for some reason the whole effect gave me an «under the sea» impression. It felt a world away from many of the bars nearby with this unique vibe. Level 2 has dining, as well as the patio off to the right. I love outdoor dining and could envision myself returning for drinks or a quick bite sometime on a balmy summer evening. I went up to Level 3 when I visited, which had booths and then tables set up for a group to visit with one another. The entire meal was a fantastic mix of excellent service and inventive cuisine. Tasty plate #1 consisted of a light salad. I like getting my greens out of the way so that I feel virtuous no matter what I eat next(who cares if I went for the steak AND the cheesy potatoes AND the brownie a la mode for dessert. .. at least I got my veggies in for starters!). Salad was followed by an appetizer trio of Pork Gyoza, Shrimp Tempura, and Crisp Daikon Green. All were accompanied by savory and umami sauces whose flavors accented and complemented the appetizers perfectly. For the entrée, I had real trouble deciding, but finally went with the Angus Filet. I was swayed by the promise of saffron risotto and nyonya sauce. The risotto included tender slices of asparagus, and the saffron flavor didn’t disappoint, but also didn’t overwhelm. And take my advice on the filet and order it rare — typically I get steak medium, but I went on a limb and got it rare this time. It was tender, juicy, cooked enough, and enhanced by the flavors of a sichuan peppercorn dusting and the nyonya(piquant savory sauce). I realize that Asiatique is a fusion, and that ordering steak here may seem less appealing than ordering, say, the bouillabaisse — traditional French dish with a spicy Asian twist. However, the talent with the steak dinner only assured me that any future meal at Asiatique would keep me satisfied and happy to come back again! As I left the restaurant, I saw a plaque for«Best of Louisville — Best Happy Hour, 2014». With the inviting patio, a great meal in my belly, and a BoL endorsement, I can’t wait to return and check out the patio one day soon!

This was a great dinner location. The food is great. Service is excellent. It’s nice to find a good place for meetings that has good food and you can hear yourself think. They have both tapas and full meals. The staff is accommodating to a large group and was appropriate for an interview setting. I highly recommend this establishment for dinner b

We came here for my friend’s bachelorette dinner. I ordered the skirt steak buns. Upon tasting the beef I noticed it tasted off. I let my friend try it and she almost spit it out stating that it was rotten. I never send dishes back but I opted to try something else. The waiter was extremely rude, condescending, and disrespectful about this which was extremely unprofessional. This in addition to the drinks and several small plates I had lead me to be extremely disappointed. I left dinner fearing that I had just ruined my weekend due to food poisoning. I would not recommend this place based on this horrific experience. Ladies, bring your bachelorette business elsewhere. If I could give 0 stars I would.

This was the worst service we have ever had. I would avoid this place at all costs. Everyone was rude, even the manager. Took over 3 hours to complete a terrible meal with no service. McDonalds is better.

Stopped in here on a Thursday night for dinner with some co-workers. Small bar area, but very good cocktails. Bourbon list is extensive though they didn’t have the first one I ordered. Great appetizers. We had the duck nachos, mussels and vegetable orgy. I appreciated their portions, like goldilocks, it was just right, not too big and not too small. For dinner, I enjoyed the ahi tuna. Another plus for a Bardstown Road restaurant is the parking they provide around back. It was easy to get in and out.

It’s been awhile since we were here, so this may not be news to everyone, but I was delighted with the small plates additions on Asiatique’s menu. Four ramen dishes, buns, and new salads and sides. We tried the beef ramen with tea egg~ if you watch the local cooking shows, the making of the tea egg was an intriguing featured item not long ago. The soup was pretty spicy as was the Kim chee radish salad, but we loved both. The brussel sprouts side was delicious. My hubby got the soft shell crab salad and he inhaled it before I got a taste, but he said it was very good. Worth the visit!

We each had a tasting menu with wine pairing. I had medley which started with a duck salad, progressed to dumplings, then scallops and shrimp, then pork shank and then dessert. Kayla had some tuna that was out if this world! I would definitely recommend the tasting menu!

This restaurant is wonderful! Fantastic food and great service! My boyfriend and I were a little late for our 6:30 reservation on a Friday night. But it didn’t matter because the restaurant was quiet. Our waiter explained the menus to us since it was our first time dining here. We opted for the 502 restaurant week menu because it seemed like the best deal, and it certainly was. I had pork gyoza, seafood ramen, and cheesecake. My boyfriend had arugula salad, salmon, and dark chocolate torte. Our food was fantastic. The gyoza and salmon were seared a little heavily, so they were a bit burnt on one side, but I enjoyed it because it added a little crunchiness. Seafood ramen was my favorite. The variety of seafood was fun and enjoyable to eat. Our waiter was so nice! He was attentive and seemed very genuine. He recommended the tasting menu, which I’ll definitely have to try the next time I come.

Had Valentine’s Day dinner date there. Great cocktail menu, bourbon and beer selections. Nice bar with capable bartenders. They were of course packed but we were seated within 10 mins of our reservation time. Hostess was pleasant. Server was great. Dinner was a 4 course selection and it was all amazing. Tuna ahi was especially great. Can’t wait to go back. Décor is nice. Overall great experience.

Asiatique is not what it used to be. Went for happy hour, which of course, made it affordable. But their menu is so pretentious. I realize they have always been a «higher» end restaurant but they try too hard and use ingredients that you literally need a dictionary to decipher — and I’m pretty good on unusual ingredients. Server wasn’t much help; everything was delicious according to him, which makes it difficut to narrow down the choices. i want a wait staff that has some opinions.

If I’m at Asiatique, you can bet on three things: 1) there’s an Asiarita in my hand(their signature cocktail made with tequila and tuaca) 2) there’s a plate of veggie tempura on the table and 3) I’m enjoying both with my Asiarita co-fanatic, Nancy Stephen. This is one of my favorite happy hour stops. Several cocktails(including the Asiarita) and small plates are discounted from 5−7pm during the weekday. You’ll have to ask for the veggie tempura, however, because it’s not listed on the menu. It’s a perfect portion for two and includes array of tempura battered veggies like zucchini, onions, baby corn and asparagus served with two sauces — an aioli and a spicy red sauce. Just be careful with the Asiaritas – they are dangerously good.

No, thank you. It is difficult to enjoy a meal here when the restaurant smells of sulfur. No, the restaurant can’t help it(something to do with pipes under bardstown rd). To escape the smell we sat outside in the cold. Yeah, that’s how bad it was. We held hope for the food to stand up to the rave reviews. Unfortunately, we were 100% disappointed. The waiter was Great and totally genuine, but that can’t make up for poorly prepared food. The pork belly was 2inches thick and 2inches wide, 90% fat, not browned(I’m talking marshmallow white), and stone cold in the center(not thoroughly thawed or cooked). And guess what else? That was basically ALL that was on the plate. That. That was my entrée. The duck nachos? Hardly anything there & the chips tastes of burnt frier oil. We will never, ever return. I will say though that their stand at the farmers market is way better than the food they served that night.

A true outlier on the Urban Bourbon Trail, this place is off the beaten path, but our small taste of it was really nice. We had a couple of tasty apps and enjoyed several of their solid whiskey selections. The place was low-key and, like its neighborhood, seemed populated by some of the most interesting locals Louisville has to offer. This is a short cab ride from downtown and a nice break from the handsome but touristy parts of the city.

I ditto what Gina C had to say. Nothing remarkable. Pretty restaurant, but food not worth the price. Wish we’d gone elsewhere. After reading so many good reviews, we were pretty disappointed — especially since we’d eaten at Seviche earlier in the week and loved it. If the prices weren’t more suitable for a real dining experience, I’d have rated it a 3 star, maybe. The service was pretty good, not great, and the restaurant was not at all busy.

Asiatique — Where style and deliciousness marge under a rising sun on Bardstown. Made my first visit to contemporary but easy going Asiatique on a recent Friday evening for an Anniversary dinner. In short, they impressed the Yin Yang out of me. Quality staff, interesting and tasty drinks and an outstanding menu that showcase some gourmet dishes of a large variety. A little more upscale and posh than I was expecting but solid all around. I ordered the Seafood Tasting Menu(Which, at $ 50, is much more expensive than the average dish) and in an uncharacteristic display of foresight, the wife and I wrote down and graded every little morsel we put in our mouth: Blushing Geisha Drink — Thumbs Up Short Ribs Starter — 6(of 10). Good flavor! Grilled Octopus– 7.5 — Delicious chickpeas on the side Ahi-Crusted Tuna — 5 — Only okay Grilled Shrimp and Muscle Stir Fry –7 Snapper — 8 Chocolate Tort — A+ So, yeah, high marks! Honor Roll. Well done. I’ll see Asiatque again soon. Perhaps for late night drinks and apps since they rock the scene relatively late into the night!

This is the second time I’ve been here… the last ended in a poor seafood experience and late stomach issues. Years later, pulled in by friends from out of town, I thought I would give it another chance. The restaurant is multi-levels, the floor we were on smelled like a toilet or cleaner solution. It wasn’t overt, but since the place was empty and the food is not aromatic, it didn’t cover up the strange odor Here’s what we had: Special appetizer(salmon sashimi) … ok, nothing special, not amazingly fresh for the price $ 10 soft shell crab … good, liked it, only wished the soft shell was crispy, less chewy Pork bulgogi … ok All in all, i think i’m done visiting this restaurant. I find the food so-so, the décor strangely inspired by miami vice, and the prices leaving me wondering where else I could have eaten.
