We were staying in the hotel for a wedding over the weekend, and the grooms had us meet at Verge for drinks on Friday night. It was a cozy little hotel lounge with generous pours and we were excited to try their homemade limoncello! The game was on and the fireplace was crackling, so the lounge felt very cozy. There are small plates available for guests who feel like nibbling. Service slowed a bit as more people entered the bar area, but overall we were well taken care of! I would return to Verge to meet friends for a drink!

The restaurant at this hotel changes names every few years, but unfortunately, the new name doesn’t seem to make it any better. We went for the Easter brunch, which was pretty disappointing. They hiked up the price(a LOT!), so there is an expectation of high quality food. Not the case. Let’s start with the brunch basics… eggs. You had to go to the omelette station to get any kind of eggs. No tray of scrambled like you’d expect. Well that would be ok, if they had enough people to process the line. nope. one guy, 2 pans. long line. By the time I finally got through it, my other food was cold. And no bacon or sausage at the omelette station. It was pretty limited. Tasted ok once I got stuff from other places and added it in. Ok, moving on to other foods. The eggs benedict was quite tasty. Soggy muffins, but good flavor. Great bacon(seriously… yum). The seafood items were inedible. The salmon tasted VERY fishy(fresh fish should not taste like that). The shrimp were watery and had an odd texture to them. Not a good quality shrimp. Service: meh. They filled drinks when you asked for it. Not great at clearing away plates. It was rather odd. Lots of people in the room, but not sure what they were doing. All in all, it was ok food, totally not worth the price. If you’re looking for a brunch place, try somewhere else.

We were a party of 6. Loved the food at this establishment in the Tollhouse Hotel. Went with the duck omelet. My family chose other items on the menu shrimp grits, quesidilla, and traditional eggs, bacon and sausage. Waiters were accomodating and attentive. There is a bar in the restaurant, perfect for Happy Hour! Prices were reasonable. I’m pretty sure its the standard 6 or more and they automatically tack the %18 gratuity. Too bad this isn’t near me. I’d make this a weekly treat!

Stopped by for a meeting and a quick meal. Verge is the newest restaurant in the Tollhouse Hotel in downtown Los Gatos and they’ve done a good job reimagining both the space and menu. The bar features a variety of cocktail and beers but when I saw the chocolate bacon beer($ 13) I was sold. It’s a sweet drink shallow grave porter, coffee liqueur, honey and some China bitters but the pièce de résistance is definitely the chocolate covered bacon that is laid on top of the cocktail glass. It’s served cold(prepared earlier) but nonetheless its bacon completely smothered with dark chocolate. It tastes great. The drink isn’t too shabby either and while a touch sweet is very drinkable. We had a variety of appetizers included baked popovers, flatbread pizza, and potato chips served with caviar onion dip and everything was solid. Highlights of the appetizers included the deliciously deep fried Brussels sprouts with deviled eggs(there’s a combo you don’t see often) and the sliders. Entrees are a bit pricey(~$ 20 – 32 each) but great choices included the sea bass and the buttermilk fried chicken that was served with four(4!) pieces of chicken that were moist and nicely seasoned. Overall, for a hotel restaurant, the Verge hit the mark. The menu is interesting, the cocktails are fun, and the food is overall solid. Seems like a great place for after work gatherings though it’s a touch far from downtown LG central. Verge Restaurant accepts credit cards including American Express.

My fiancé and I dined at the Verge last night! It was lovely! I had no idea that the restaurant at Toll House had changed over to the new restaurant. It has been completely remodeled as well — looks great! I would come back and sit at the big beautiful bar! We started with the Ahi appetizer, it was delicious — super fresh fish, perfect flavors! He then had the duck poutine and I had the fried chicken. They are incredibly large portions and both were delicious! They bring you popovers too — um, to die for! I think that was my favorite part! We will definitely be back and apparently the patio will be re-opening soon too, perfect time!

Big Fan, HUGE! Recent ladies night out; –Bar was a bit slow on the mixed drinks so order a beer or wine if you want a drink STAT! –Apps were great, we ordered(I think) every app and enjoyed each. –From the burger to the Bass everyone enjoyed their meal –Los Gatos Prices, but well worth every dollar My personal dessert pick was(not on the dessert menu) the beer and bacon flight. Please enjoy and tip well. Tell them Lorraine sent you… trust me They will have no idea what you are talking about. BUT do it anyway!!!

Amazing! Had dinner here with my husband, step-son and in-laws. We eat out A LOT and you absolutely cannot beat this place, especially for the price. First the table was served with pop over muffins. OMG to die for! For appetizers and entrees we ate the onion dip, beet salad, mushroom cobbler, butternut squash soup, octopus with pork belly, beef ribs, hangar steak, sea bass, buttermilk chicken and duck confit. The only reason I am giving 4 stars rather than 5 is my mother-in-laws duck confit was served on top of French fries all of which was too salty. Granted my husband tried it and thought it was tasty. We will go back frequently!

I went to Verge for breakfast for my boyfriend’s birthday. He had purchased a Groupon in advance. Verge is inside of the Toll House Hotel, and they have plenty of signs so it was simple to find. There is also parking across the street in a separate lot. Granted, it was a Monday morning, so the place was empty. The service was great! Our servers were very attentive and checked on us frequently. As for the décor, it was modern. The breakfast menu is a bit limited since there are about 12 food items options plus drinks, I ordered a gingerbread waffle($ 12) and my boyfriend ordered a verge omelet($ 14) plus a side of bacon($ 4). The waffle was alright. It came with strawberries and whipped cream. The whipped cream was super thick which was new to me! I liked it! I didn’t really like the taste of the waffle though, it was too earthy(?) I don’t think verge did anything wrong, this was a personal preference. I would not order it again. My boyfriend loved his omelette and his bacon! He said the duck was great! Overall, it was a great experience and I want to come and try dinner!

The reviews scared me a bit but I wanted to try Verge anyway. I had a Living Social dinner for two deal so off we went! It’s actually in the Toll House Inn. It’s a restaurant inside a hotel yes. The signage was not very clear so we wandered around a bit before we were able to find it. The inside does feel like a hotel restaurant. It felt mostly like a bar with some lounge tables scattered about. There’s some seating on the balcony. The Living Social menu was quite limited obviously but the choices were fine. Kale salad: not bad. They had avocado and grapefruit in it. I liked the vinaigrette that they used, a bit tangy. Hangar steak: yum. I liked the potatoes and the brown sauce on the side. The sauce tasted like it had mushrooms in it, which I’m really starting to like in my old age for some reason. Buttermilk fried chicken: chicken was cooked well. There wasn’t any sides though so it was just straight up chicken. I thought it could have used some greens or mashed potatoes but otherwise it was tasty. Mango sorbet with tapioca pudding: great! I don’t see tapioca pudding that much. The mangoes were a great hit. They messed up the bill at first so we had to flag them down to correct it since I already paid the $ 50 online.

Bad bad bad bad bad. Plus the food is expensive. In the words of someone at our table, «it was bland, tasteless, and flavorless.» This was in response to the breakfast ravioli. I tried the chorizo and eggs. That was decent so at least they got that going for them. I tried my girlfriends zucchini and farro cakes. It was terrible. My friend got the gravlax and the serving was enough to feed an ant. More like a baby ant. I do not recommend this place.

For a hotel restaurant, this place is nice. The décor and ambiance was recently modernized and updated so everything is quite elegant for a casual(but classy) date night. I’ve been here a couple of times now and think this is a nice choice for someone wanting to dine in Los Gatos without having to worry about reservations. Both times we’ve been here, there were ample spots at the bar and dining area. We tried a good amount of their stuff: Wild Mushroom Cobbler, Crispy Brussel Sprouts w/Deviled Eggs, Crispy Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Pan Seared Hangar Steak, Pork & Duck Burger, Flatbread, and Mango Sorbet Out of those, the memorable dishes were: + Wild Mushroom Cobbler($ 9): really rich in flavor + Crispy Buttermilk Fried Chicken($ 24): very tender and well seasoned. The mandarin oranges added a surprisingly nice touch to the dish + Flatbread($ 12): great appetizer option to pair with a beer + Mango Sorbet($ 9): satisfied my sweet tooth They also have a couple flights worth trying. My BF got their Beer Flight($ 10) which is a great deal and I tried their Cello Flight. It was too sweet and too strong for me IMO but kudos to them for trying to make homemade infused vodkas. Their service is good(especially the bartenders) and the foods generally pretty good, too. But FYI: the food comes out kinda slow, so be sure to grab a drink and wait a bit. But all in all, this place has potential and worth revisiting again.

The brunch menu look interesting, and I have been to most of the 4 and 5 star breakfast and brunch places in the area — so thought — «hey let’s try something new» We made a reservation for 10:30 on an August — got there around 10:15. They 4 staff members were running around like chickens with their heads cut off — apparently they didn’t account for the 3 blocks of rooms booked the night before would come down for brunch the day after the wedding — even I could have told you that. If you are traveling for a wedding — then many people are going to fly out on Sunday and try for the closest brunch — in the hotel. We were asked to be seated outside since it was so noisy and chaotic inside. — Then we waited, and waited — about 20 minutes before I went inside and asked to be waited on. Then they poured one coffee and bought only 3 waters(we asked for 4). The we waited again. I went inside and asked for a pitcher of water. An Apologetic and frazzled waiter finally took our order — the food came out in about 15 minutes. It was pretty good — I had the omelet with the duck, mushrooms and lardon. My man had the quinoa and spinach cakes — his bulk sausage patties on the side were really the winner at the table for me. I would say they serve everything on too big of a plate so your meal looks small. We went to Manresa Bread for an after brunch snack — which I completely enjoyed.

Came here on a Sunday for dinner. We had a Living Social deal. Open Table reservation was made very easy. They had a lot of time slots opened on this Sunday. I made it for 7PM. The restaurant is located in the Toll House Hotel, you get free parking. We easily found street parking, though. We arrived early at 6:47PM. There’s no hosting table, so we talked in and just stood there waiting until someone paid attention. A waiter walked by and finally acknowledged us and said he will look for a table for us shortly. After he left, what I assume is the floor manager approached us with an ipad and I told him our reservation. He confirmed it then said he will seat us at 7PM… they had plenty of tables open and available but instead asked that we wait on the lobby area. Right around 7:02PM, the original waiter who saw us earlier came by and was like,“Oh they did not seat you yet?“ We were seated shortly after that. With plenty of tables still opened around us. After we told the waiter we had a Living Social Deal, he took our menus away and gave us a Living Social Menu. I had to request for the original menu back in case we wanted to order extra. Not really something these guys are thinking about. My fiancé and I shared the baby kale and frisee salad. We got this because I read the arugula salad taste like grass. Anyway, the baby kale salad was.ok. Nothing worthwhile. We both agreed it could do for some tomatoes. Felt lacking. I ordered the Hanger Steak. It was ok. A bit chewy in some places. It was cooked medium. The fingerling potatoes were there. It was ok, nothing spectacular. I liked the sauced accompanying the steak though. My fiancé had the crispy buttermilk chicken. basically fried chicken. They give a good amount. About half a chicken. But… that’s it. There were no veggies or sides with the chicken. Could’ve used SOMETHING. We shared the mango sorbet with tapioca for dessert. It was refreshing. The menu was a bit confusing here. Like it went for an Asian flare with wontons, tapioca, shrimp egg rolls, and Asian sliders. But then they had poutine, mushroom cobbler, or corned beef. It was kind of all over the place. Our waiter messed up on the bill and we had to correct him. All in all, the service(mostly from the floor manager) was a complete let down. The food was unmemorable. I don’t see myself returning here with other eateries in Los Gatos.

Verge is located in the Toll House hotel, across from the Post Office. There is under ground parking(not sure if it is free) or the usual hard to find parking spots nearby. We entered by climbing up some stairs and found Verge near the lobby. They have a big bar and lounge area. The table arrangement was not the greatest and we looked out at the lobby area and felt like we were eating in the hotel lobby. There is a back room which is enclosed by glass which would be a nice area to dine. Our server, Erin was excellent. We tried this place because of a Living Social deal. They have a special pre fixe menu that you order off of for the deal. We got the frisee avocado and grapefruit salad, which was excellent. For main entrée I we ordered the sea bass and hangar steak. The sea bass was really thin portioned with skin on it with grape juice consommé. I’m used to a thicker piece of sea bass but it was good. The hanger steak came with kale, potato fingerlings and mushroom porcini sauce. Flavor was good and presentation was very nice. Served with fresh pop up bread with currant butter and a glass of wine and draft beer. For dessert we had the gingerbread cake with carrot sorbet. I would pass on the cake and just get the sorbet if it was possible.

Bought a living social deal for here. It was bae’s and my first time eating here(this past Tuesday evening). The décor is like a weird loungey vibe even though they serve dinner so I didn’t really know what to expect. The deal included a pre fixe menu. We got the asparagus salad to share. It was weird and tasted like straight up grass. I don’t have the palate of Ina Garten though so maybe it was too pretentious for me. They also served complimentary bread puffs thingies with currant butter which were delicious. For main entrée I got sautéed sea bass and he got hangar steak. Both were super good but I actually liked the steak better than the fish. For dessert we got mango sorbet to share. I didn’t care for it but that’s because I don’t like mango.(The other dessert choice was ginger cake and I hate ginger.) I also had the lavender maker which was AMAHZING. Never had anything like it before! Minus one star for unfortunate service. They were apparently understaffed that night. They brought us the wrong salad. The wait was a bit long, and they never brought us water that we asked for. Overall I would probably come back if I were to get another online deal!

I saw Verge listed on an article as one of «hottest restaurants in San Jose right now» and I decided to have my birthday dinner here! Since it was Memorial Day weekend I called ahead of time and made reservations! This new and brightly lit restaurant is located inside the Toll House Hotel, and getting a hold of them to make reservations can be a pain. Nevertheless, I got through after five calls and the person I spoke to guaranteed that they can accommodate my large party of eighteen. Anyway we arrived here at 8PM and was greeted and brought to their private dining room w/the big screen! *big props to Verge since my party wanted to catch the Warriors games that night*. The staff were very nice and accommodating with our endless requests. Our night began with the cocktails menu(of course): I had the: — Bacon Bourbon Cocktail — VERY sweet and syrup-y!!! Tasted like they only put a couple of drops of alcohol in there and I didn’t taste any bacon-y flavor to it either. — Coffee Bomb w/Chocolate Covered Bacon — No complaints on the actual drink, but they skimped out on the bacon. My friend and I ordered this drink and we noticed that they split the bacon in half instead of giving us a whole one like pictured on their page and on Unilocal(uploaded by others). *eye roll*… Next came our starters and Entrees, and I had: — Bone Marrow — My favorite of the night, because the bone marrow just melted in my mouth and wasn’t overly seasoned. — Pork Belly & Gilled Octopus w/Asparagus — Several of us ordered this starter and sadly my friend’s order didn’t have a single pork belly in it…(see the picture I uploaded)… Good thing our server that night was nice enough to bring it on the side, but it definitely took the excitement away from the dish. — Duck Confit Poutine Fries — I love me a good poutine fries, but Verge’s duck confit lacked flavor and was a bit dry. On a good note the portion is pretty big and I’d recommend sharing this. — Pork & Duck Burger — *shared this dish with my friend* This dish came with delicious jalapeño fries. The mac & cheese bun was good, but the pork and duck meat was pretty bland…
Overall, I love the look and décor of this restaurant. The staff were also attentive and checked in on us several times so all of our requests were met. The downfall here is unfortunately the food… Don’t get me wrong the dishes looked amazing and were well plated and presented, but most of the dishes just didn’t taste as good as it looks… At least four people in my party ordered the hanger steak and every one of them were disappointed because it was REALLY chewy. Needless to say price didn’t match the foods’ taste. But do come and check out their bar and sip on some dranks! *ALSOCHECKYOURBILL, MYFRIEND’S CARDWASDOUBLECHARGED that night…(OVER $ 900)*

Visited here for the first time 2 years ago when I met up with my cousin whom I had not seen in over 25 years. She was staying at the Toll House and asked me to meet her in the lounge for coffee! WHOAHASTHISPLACECHANGEDINTWOYEARS!!! At first I just assumed that something looked different probably because I was so focused on catching up with my cousin two years ago that I didn’t notice nor pay too much attention to my surroundings. But when a coworker recommended to me this place for breakfast as a result of he and his family spending Mother’s Day here for their Brunch. I showed up on a Friday morning to meet and catch up with a friend at 9:00AM. My friend was 15 minutes late which gave me ample time to notice the abundance of detail all over this restaurant. The wait staff shared with me that the entirely renovated the restaurant approx 1 ½ years ago. They further added that it was fully gutted and changed every wall, table, chair, and decorative fixture. My coworker said that he believed that they served breakfast during the week and though it wouldn’t be as diverse of a menu as their Mother’s Day Brunch, that even their limited menu would be done with the same gusto and he was absolutely correct. Limited breakfast menu but what they do have is special, unique, artistic, & delicious! And the prices are spot on(not over the top as the details of this posh décor and food prep would normally demand). Hands down the nicest upper scale(did I just say upscale for a breakfast restaurant??) with the best food, service, & pricing!!! Change your coffee(it’s pretty gross and unusual like Philz coffee) & expand the menu(like at least add oatmeal) and I’d give you 5 Stars. Would return and recommend frequently regardless of the weird tasting coffee and the limited menu.

The old Tollhouse restaurant has gotten a huge update. A sleek bar and open lounge and dining combined into a large space. Came in for a late dinner and some drinks. Fried chicken, duck poutine, brussel sprouts with pancetta, pork belly, bone marrow plus the popover starters are all solid. THe cocktails are also much more modern and tasty. I think they’ve done a good job with the refresh and Im looking forward to see where they’re food and beverage program go

Fresh from the soft opening at the revamped Verge in the Toll House hotel, I can see it has the ingredients for a great evening out in downtown Los Gatos. Since it’s located within a hotel and next to the lobby, the entry to the restaurant is set quite far from the street. Being familiar with the layout of the hotel, I found my way, but I can see how it might be easily overlooked. Better signage and directions would be very helpful. The space has been opened up and tastefully modernized with a blend of organic and metallic finishes in cool grey and earth tones. Seemingly every possible seating option is available, from lounge to bar to fireside al fresco to traditional table rounds and private rooms. Service was quite earnest, ensuring one of the most important elements for a good dining experience is in place. Though the kitchen was working through its kinks, our bartender was attentive and welcoming. He introduced the new drinks and kept us well served while we waited. Our instant favorite drink, along with the rest of the guests at the bar, was the coffee bomb. It was a coffee-infused cocktail, coming in somewhere between an espresso and an iced Irish coffee. Topping it off was a dark chocolate coated strip of crispy bacon, which won us all over. The combination of three primal alkaloidal flavors with the coffee drink was quite intoxicating. In fact, we all wanted more of the amazing chocolate bacon, wishing it could be an appetizer or entrée. We got the bone marrow and short rib appetizer and it was a luscious pairing. With a slight plating tweak, it’s perfect. You get a delicious little fatty morsel to kick off your appetite for more. Our entrees of hanger steak with potatoes and duck poutine suggested of adventurous plates at a gastropub as they contrasted elements of fine and casual dining. We finished with a mango dessert with cubed mango, ice cream, flavor bubbles, and whipped cream. It was sweet and rather heavy. My wife loved it. I prefer my IPAs. With a few adjustments, the Verge can be the new hangout for any number of occasions, from casual dining to afterwork drinks to business dinners.
