I inherited some rugs from my mother when she died in 20l4. I didn’t know anything about them, so I took them over to Serapi Rug Gallery. I had seen the store when I had stopped in Los Gatos after lunch one day.
their rugs are gorgeous. I met Babak’s wife Mahdis. She photographed the rugs for me, measured them and gave me information as to how old they might be, what their present value could be. especially if they were restored.
Unfortunately my mother, who died in her late 90s, did not take good care of the rugs.
Mahdis suggested several options and we discussed what the best course of action would be to restore them as much as possible.
She told me that one of them should not have fringes that they were an” after market «product
I followed her suggestion, and one of them is now gracing my dining room and looks wonderful.
the 2 others are smaller and have been cleaned and are waiting for a spot in the house. I presently have one rug to be restored which she suggested could be washed and a small fringe added.
I am very happy with Serapi and her and Babak’s advice. I would never go anywhere else.

I found this place on Unilocal and I recently called them to ask some questions regarding a Persian rug that I have at home. The guy who answered the phone was so helpful and polite. He answered all my questions in detail and had excellent customer service.

Excellent customer service and very knowledgable. Quality hand made carpets are more of an art-​work than a piece of furniture. This is the place to go if you want to be sure about what you are getting.

We’ve purchased 2 rugs from Babak over the last 6 months, and in both cases it has been a fantastic experience. In the first instance, we were looking for an 11×14′ rug for our family room. The showroom had an unusually high proportion of rugs that we *really* liked. This was after having gone to the Macy’s furniture store and another rug store where we struggled to find anything that we could see putting in our home.
We chose two rugs and took them home, both were beautiful but we finally decided a bit beyond our budget. Babak then helped us find the PERFECT rug, which fit our style, our room, and our budget. He ordered it and we received it within about a week. We could not have been happier with it and with Babak’s knowledgeable and thoughtful service. In fact, we’ve had a couple of people comment on how much they love the rug, were amazed at how reasonable the price was for the quality, and they’ve gone to Serapi to shop for their own rugs.
A few weeks later, after hearing my wife rave about the new rug for the 10^th time, I went back to buy her a runner for her birthday. Again, was wowed by the selection and had trouble choosing from the great selection of beautiful and high quality rugs… but Babak helped narrow the selection and I made a choice that she was totally delighted with.
I love that Babak is (a) super knowledgeable, (b) low (really, no) pressure, © offers reasonable and predictable pricing, (d) is very willing to have you take home multiple options and try them out in your home so you really know what you’re getting, and (e) will bend over backwards to make sure you are happy with what you ultimately select (sending lots of pictures of rugs he could order for us, patiently describing their materials and construction, offering an easy return policy, etc).

Babek is the most helpful NOT pushy shop owner. He is patient and very willing to bring rugs out to your home for approval. That is very important as it is hard to choose a rug from store displays. They look so different in your own home.
I have purchased rugs now from Babek 3 times and will go nowhere else in the future.
He also does excellent rug repair work.

I walked into this store unsure if this was the place for me since up to that point I was going to the mall for my rugs. A year later, I have purchased 3 beautiful handmade rugs from Babak and I will not go anywhere else. He really listened to what I was looking for and did an incredible job of showing me pieces that I absolutely loved. This wasn’t easy because I had a specific color, style and price range. Babak was so gracious and PATIENT and gave me tons of information so I could make the right decision. I had such a hard time deciding from 3 beautiful pieces that he brought them over to my home so I could see for myself how they would work in the room. In fact he brought over a few others that he thought might also work so I could get a better idea. Needless to say I found my dream rug and a few months later a couple more that really make the house, our home. If you want a great selection of high quality rugs and SUPERIOR customer service, this is the place to go.

I grew up on Los Gatos and still visit frequently because my family still lives there. My husband and I fell in love with the rugs we saw through the windows after hours. We went in the next day and bought 3 large rugs for our home in Los Angeles. The prices were very fair and the attention and service we received were exceptional. We were not rushed and there is no hard sell. We took up a lot of time because we were uncertain about some final choices. Babak made a recommendation based on the description of color I gave him. Never having seen our home, he made a spectacular recommendation that enhanced our room far beyond what we could have hoped for. The quality of the rugs, of course, speak for themselves. The selection and range of colors and sizes is impressive.
While all rugs were shipped, one arrived with an odd crease in it. I spoke to Babak over the phone about it, and he said the rugs usually relax about 90 days after shipping. When the creased didn’t «relax» out of the rug, Babak made arrangements to be in Los Angeles to address the issue in person. Of course he fixed it.
We recently needed to get the rugs cleaned. Babak found us a rug company that would do the work for us. We were stunned at the price – about 50% of what we were expecting. The rugs are being returned tomorrow.
We are madly in love with the rugs we bought from Babak (they are so beautiful), and the service and care he provided to us are unequaled. We are about to begin a major remodel in our home, and if we need more rugs, we will absolutely be working with him. I won’t consider purchasing rugs from anyone else.
I cannot recommend Babak and Serapi Rug Gallery enough. There’s no need to shop elsewehere.

I called Babak at Serapi after reading Unilocal reviews out of frustration with the Palo Alto main stay, poor service and poor treatment of employees sent me searching. I was rewarded with Babak’s knowledge and experience. All oriental rugs were cleaned, repaired and placed with the option of new pads. He provides service with grace and ease. He is professional, treats his employees well and loves what he does. Serapi is my new oriental rug shop.

My husband and I came to Serapi, based on the Unilocal reviews, after visiting two other rug stores. We had a great experience here. Babak, the owner, is very helpful and not at all pushy. He quickly understood the style we liked and showed us several in that style. We ended up buying two gorgeous rugs here and received an additional discount since we bought 2. Babak and a couple of helpers delivered the rugs to our home and set them up. Overall, we are very pleased with our experience and our rugs!

Took in two antique rugs to have cleaned and repaired. The attention to detail, the way the processes were explained and the passion really instilled confidence in me.
Rugs were sent out for repairs took a bit longer than estimated but if you can believe… were less costly so rather then pocketing additional profits my cost was lowered! Now that’s honesty and integrity.

Babak is gracious, knowledgeable and low key. He shared his knowledge about the rugs and how they were made. He listened to me and noticed themes in my comments about his beautiful rug inventory, which helped me get closer to a choice, which took 4 visits to his shop. In the meantime I shopped at Macy’s and locally owned well-​respected furniture store, receiving little to no customer service. Babak was always happy to see me and would graciously show me his rugs again. I did lots of web browsing for rugs. I found the Serapi website to be easy to browse and the videos increased my knowledge of rug making.
Based on the research I did, Serapi’s rugs are very high quality and the prices are very competitive. What cannot be duplicated is Babak’s singularly outstanding customer service. Oh! And my rug? OMG! It is so beautiful and I love looking at it everyday in my living room.

First of all, the store is wonderful. Open, not cluttered and full of gorgeous rugs, every size and color and blend of colors. Babak is extremely knowledge, low key and happy to help you find the rug of your dreams. After going to the usual places, Macy’s, etc. Serapi is a refreshing and professional change.

Rug cleaning is done very well, my old Persian rugs now have a lovely clean gleam. The service is dependable, knowledgeable, polite. Good value for the money.

I couldn’t more highly recommend Serapi Rug Gallery. The owner (Babak) is a true professional when it comes to knowing his products and serving his clients — a rare thing these days.
In my case, I was in the market for a fine Persian rug. I can say his selection was without question the finest in the Bay Area (and I think visited just about every major rug store in the area). Babak spent a significant amount of time helping me understand the difference between rugs and also helping me choose the type of rug that would work best in my house. He even drove over to my house on two occasions without charge to roll out several of his fine rugs in order for me to make the best choice. I didn’t feel any type of sales pressure during the process and felt his prices were very reasonable. I think what impressed me most about Babak is his passion for the fine rugs he chooses to stock and sell at his store.

I have to agree with Jenny. This was one of the best rug buying experiences I have ever had. Babak simply wanted to make sure that I was getting the rug that I wanted. He was informative, knowledgeable and has a great design sense. I walked in with a difficult request and a challenging-​to-​coordinate-​with fabric swatch and walked out with the perfect rug… the size, the colors, the design are all just what the room needed!

Great service and Babak is great at explaining the rug cleaning process. You can also get appraisals here as well as material added to your rugs if you want to hang them on the wall.
