This is not too bad of a spot to get coffee. It is a cozy one located on busy Sunset Blvd. The place is small with very limited seating(which students with laptops pretty much hog). I ended up taking my latte to the wooden benches outside the shop. I’ll be back here for sure.

Just ordered an almond latte, the girl taking my order has no personality, not welcoming and my cofee taste burnt. I came here because of the Unilocal reviews. Maybe I came on a bad day.

All I can say is, «fuck yes!» I am a professor at a college down the way but commute from Valencia. I have been looking for this kind of coffee shop to stop by on my commute to teach, and this place is definitely it! The staff was super friendly, and my chai latte is unbelievably delicious! #chaiforaneye

I love this place so much! Fantastic coffee, best almond milk latte in town, very nice staff, almost never a line. If you get there super early they even have a couple of gluten free scone options that are really delicious. Only trouble is they run out of those early. If they had them a little later in the day it would be 5 stars, hands down.

While exploring the area we decided to compare coffee shops so once again my friend got a flat white and I got a chai iced. My friend loved his flat white more here whereas I preferred my liger chai at the other place. I think the lady behind the counter was training because she was very uncertain. I asked for my tea with milk and she put the container down so I could pour it in which was nice? On the one hand I would have preferred her to pour it but on the other hand I know there are people that would prefer to pour their own. No biggie. The décor was super cute and we enjoyed it. Thank you!

Great espresso. I’m not a coffee drinker at all. And to go straight to espressos is crazy right? Drinking coffee is tiring to me. So much to drink. I’d rather get the max flavor in the shortest amount of time. I figure a shot of espresso is perfect. Woodcat serves their espresso with a side of soda water. I alternated sips. I don’t know what I’m doing but it seemed right. It’s smooth, full, not acidic, not too crazy caffeinated either. It didn’t get me the shakes at all. I didn’t get that odd burst of energy either. It was warming and energizing, perfect on a cool windy day. Also ordered the miso kouign amann. This is wonderful! Imagine flakey crossaint dough layered into a muffin tin and sprinkled with sugar. Then that sugar caramelizing as it bakes. You can’t taste the miso per se. It’s more there for umami flavor and to temper the sweetness. It’s not too sweet, not salty. Really, really, really good! Don’t leave here without a kouign amann. Also ordered the chai tea. It was good, well-balanced but I like my chai on the ginger-y side. For great chai I suggest Café de Leche in Highland Park. Takes cards, small narrow shop. Not much seating, no outdoor seating. Right off Sunset so metered parking. It’s ok for street browsing but not much is on this side of Sunset. Nothing over $ 5 as far as I could see. Really reasonably priced.

I enjoyed a superbly crafted, surprisingly creamy almond latte in this cozy, industrial-chic coffee shop. There was adequate seating and outlets for people who like to work in coffee shops. The service was reasonably friendly for LA. At 7am, there was abundant street parking right in front of the coffee shop, and the meter hadn’t even kicked in yet, so it was a wonderful place to kick-start the day.

I liked my visit to Woodcat mostly because I was able to talk soccer with the Pakistani barista. Funniest thing about it was, he started supporting this team that I hate because of the sponsor which is pretty funny. I have never heard of anyone supporting a team because they liked it’s main sponsor. Okay anyway, The place is pretty cool. nice décor and all, i don’t know what to tell you. Its pretty hip, probably cause its in echo park. The chai latte that i ordered was alright. Pretty small but flavorful, what else can i tell you? I thought it was alright. I liked how the people working recommended places to go to in the neighborhood. I told them I was visiting because i watched a Chelsea match at the Lost Knight, a pub right down the road from Woodcat. Pragmatically speaking, i wouldn’t trek to have coffee in this place, but there were a lot of cute girls, so maybe. I would.

Ah the woodcat, a true ode to hipsterdom in LA. This place has an industrial feel, think high school shop class with fire engine red walls. The service is apathetic unless you go out of your way to engage them or compliment them on their barista skills(and they know what they are doing here). That being said, they have the best almond milk latte I have ever had. It blows away the competition to such an extent that an almond milk latte at any other place will underwhelm you and make you yearn for the woodcat. Just try to not freak out due to the red walls.

I have been going here since they opened. The espresso is stunning & the coffee is a delight. The pastries are simply genius. The owners are wonderful neighbors & have created an environment that is totally not pretentious even though they are obsessed with keeping the place clean & making the best coffee. Although I’ve worked at several coffee shops I’ve learn even more details that goes making a good cup of coffee. They work 7 days a week & really should take a day off because they have enough wonderful hard working employees now. Their love for people & desire to create a warm environment is evident in the thoughtful, caring & interesting customers from all walks of life I’ve had the joy to see almost everyday. Most of the fixtures, design & furniture was made by the owners or their close friends(who I’ve seen helping behind the counter). It’s a blessing to have Echo Park residents who really understand & care for the neighborhood take root on this block.

Stumbled upon this coffee shop while my friend and I was at Echo Park Rising. I hadn’t walked down Sunset Blvd(EP hood) in a while but I found this lovely spot. It was like 102, 104 that day. Hotter than all hell that day. I was dying from the heat, exhausted and in need of caffeine. An iced chai tea latte sounded like the best option that day. I ordered one and was very pleased by my sip. The chai tea had all these components to it; it was full of robust ginger flavor, spicy with aromatics, the soy milk enhanced all the ingredients and the subtle sweetness melded everything into a fine little cup of tea. My friend tried some and was also very pleased. The décor was super cute DIY look. Wooden benches, crates, succulents, and of course the prototypical mason jar. The servers were friendly and welcoming! Definitely going back for more chai!

Epitome of hipster chic, and I’m coming from SF. Example: little wood squares as coasters. I really enjoyed my gibraltar and white miso kouign amann(just a hint from the caramel at the bottom), leisurely at the bar. As they played bhangra music. Because there was a bhangra dance party that night, obvi. The staff was realllly nice as well. Helpful as I pored over my pastry options and friendly as they greeted new and regular patrons. Also, woodcat. HOWCUTEAREYOU. I’m a huge fan. In fact, I’m a bit smitten and didn’t wanna leave.

Shelves of succulents/ man buns, almond milk lattes/ polished wood, MacBooks. Hipster doofs who review in haiku. ‘Nuff said.

I was just in town visiting for a show at the Echoplex and stopped in for some coffee. The atmosphere was very inviting and I was attracted to the shop from just strolling down the street. We went inside and ordered just a plain cup of coffee and it was delicious. I was happy with my purchase and took it to go. The staff was very nice. It was strange that there was not a trash can for use, we had a water cup that we needed to throw away from earlier, but ended up finding one down the street. Next time I’m in the area, I will definitely stop by for some coffee, especially before a late night out. Awesome!

Quick shout out to Woodcat while I sit here making sweet mouth love to one of its almond milk lattes: this place is fucking amazing! Why: Artsy tribute to hipsterdom without ANY of the pretention from the staff. Super sweet girls working behind the counter, happy to explain bakery items, very quick service. They apparently don’t read the Unilocal reviews, which, frankly, is probably one of the reasons they’re so good: they only care about the quality of the product and don’t kowtow to reviewers such as yours truly. I ordered the white miso kouign amann — some sort of danishy Japanese inspired sweet pastry from a nearby bakery — and it BLEW. MY. MIND. Better than drugs. Almond milk latte has been reviewed by plenty of previous reviewers, so I’ll leave it to them to explain. Hats off to Woodcat — awesome place, awesome experience, awesome products. Awesawesawesome.

— limited seating — drip coffee $ 2.75 — latte $ 4 — tasty scones. $ 4? — street parking — music is a bit loud for my personal taste. — come here to chit chat. Not to study or read.

Bar none, hands down the best coffee in LA. Better than Blue Bottle, Intelligentsia, etc. I am a coffee snob, I’ll admit it. This is one of the best cups of coffee of all varieties that I’ve had in LA and NY. Their almond milk latte is super duper delicious and everything is full flavored, fresh, never that burnt/over roasted flavor. Other than that, seriously delicious coffee, great environment, great people watching, cool location!

How many specialty coffee bars are there per capita in Echo Park and Silverlake? I’m not sure but it’s getting crowded. Woodcat Coffee Bar is a new arrival, situated near one of Echo Park’s classic joints, Patra Burgers. They exclusively brew coffee from Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters(San Francisco) and serve pastries from Sugarbloom Bakery and Sugarbird Sweets & Teas. I love their early opening hours, currently 6 am on weekdays and 7 am on weekends. I came by on a weekend morning and the café was bustling with hipster and actor types. Seating is all wooden stools. I parked myself on one to enjoy my CORTADO. Thumbs up!
