Just like how Koreans alliterate«gang» as «ggeng» and add phantom«g’s» to borrowed rooms(e.g. «room salong») Wine«Bbar» takes bastardized Romanization to a whole new level… it doesn’t hurt that it’s also a supremely Korean place full of shattered dreams, 6 month old grand openings signs and metric tons of soju, the national firewater of Korea. And in this day and age where so many fake the funk, it’s nice to know that there are places like Wine Bbar in LA. On a somewhat related note, this totally reminds me of the time that my friend’s mom caught me shaving her son’s head with clippers and accused us of being gang members. Mom: «Are you guys, ggeng? Ggeng? GGENG!!!» *uncontrollable sobbing*

It’s the old Soju Town, but with the same décor, same staff, same name, and pretty much the same menu. Still dark inside, too, but that’s the look. Heck from the parking lot, aside from the new name, you can’t even tell… Not that there’s anything wrong with that– the cheesy creamed corn is still delicious, the lychee fruit are still good, and the lemon soju is worth ordering, as is the strawberry. Sadly they were out of the«nom» soju on our last visit. =(
