When I first walked in to Village Eyes Optometry, I was greeted by Sabba — who helped me find a stylish new pair of glasses. She was very patient with me and gave me great recommendations based on the shape of my face. Instead of telling me everything looks good on me and trying to up-sell me, Sabba actually made sure that I was happy with my decision before purchasing. I have been to Lenscrafters in the past and have not received such great service as I have here at Village Eyes. I will definitely continue to use Village Eyes Optometry for all of my optical needs. Thank you Sabba!!!

Have seen Jon Vogel forever, and he is a very nice person and fits lenses well. I am taking off one star for his office staff… at one point he had very nice people working for him. Now, not so much. Some are actually rude. But he will work with you and take his time and is worth it.

Dr. Lorin Vogel is excellent. Not only is he one of the nicest doctors with an excellent bedside manner, but he is clearly extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain everything to you about the condition of your eyes, the purpose of the tests/exams, and how to care for your eyes. I felt very comfortable and in good hands. Plus, I have a very difficult contact lens prescription to fit(strong prescription, intense stigmatism) and he nailed it where many other optometrists have failed. My contacts feel great. The staff was also very helpful and friendly, which is never a given these days. They were on top of my contact lens order, which is very specialized, and called me as soon as it came in. I strongly recommend Dr. Vogel and his office. You will not be disappointed.

I started with Dr Jon Vogel and have started seeing his son, Lorin. Dr Lorin Vogel is one of the best doctors I have ever seen, including dentists to specialists. He is caring and always takes time to explain the tests and how our eyes change as we age. The opticians leave a little to be desired: I was supposed to get tortoise shell frames, but received black. It is still worth going to see this doctor. (I just buy my new glasses at Lenscrafters, which has gotten a lot better!)

My experience with scheduling, billing, the eye doctor and exam were all wonderful, however, the optical section left me unsatisfied. I ordered glasses for myself that ended up being very tight and caused discomfort around my ears. I went in to have them adjusted. The female working in the optical section looked very confused and asked me, «did you not try them on before you ordered them?». Of course I did. Wearing the sample glasses for a few minutes did not cause me any discomfort. She agreed to adjust the glasses for me. When I told her the glasses seemed just as tight she stated she didn’t want them to be so loose that they fall off. She agreed to adjust them some more then and afterwards told me I need to wear them for at least an hour to know if they are better or not. I ended up returning again to have them adjusted more. I was told then that they were not even on both sides and that might be causing the discomfort and they adjusted them again. The glasses are no longer too tight but now the plastic covering over the metal ear pieces is loose and pinches my ears. I have stopped wearing the glasses all together and have gone back to wearing my old glasses with the old prescription. I took my daughter in for an eye exam. Dr. Vogel indicated my daughter was far sighted and could benefit from reading glasses. He then advised that they had an extensive selection of children’s frames. My daughter found a pair of small women’s frames that she really liked. When the busy and visibly frazzled optical staff got to us we were told they that my daughter was looking at women’s frames and she should be looking at the children’s frames. Okay. Where are they? The gentleman produced about six frames. Two styles in different colors, neither of which appealed to my daughter. We decided to order the women’s frames since my daughter was very pleased with them and we were rushed away to pay for the frames. We were told the glasses should be ready in ten business days. Three weeks later we go in to see if the frames are in since we didn’t receive a call. After some checking in the back room and making a phone call I was told the glasses would be in the next day. I will certainly return for eye exams but will not be using the optical section ever again. They are over worked, under staffed and have a limited selection of frames.

I had my appointment with Dr. Golbahar yesterday. She was on time. The staff were great, courtious, friendly and professional. I did not have to wait at all. The technician took my back right away. Dr. Golbahar was awesome. She took her time and explained every test and all my options. I was very satisfied. Will definitely go back again and refer my friends.

Dr. Vogel and his staff are just great. I have been going to them for more than 25 years. He is patient, caring and professional. I have never been disappointed with him or with his office.

I have been coming here for years. Dr. Jon Vogel has been my optometrist for as long as I remember and I have nothing but positive things to say about him. He is always friendly and genuinely interested in what I’ve done since the last time I’ve come in. When I pick glasses, it takes me forever. The staff is always patient and they throw in their suggestions from time to time. They are extremely on top of their appointment reminders, phone calls when the glasses/contacts are ready and are always friendly when I come in needing to get my glasses readjusted. Would highly recommend!

I came in awhile back in the afternoon to get some new frames, & Sabba was so lively & up beat about it that it got me looking forward to my new frames! She helped me find a frame that is fashionable, suits my age, work & personal environment, as well as how to maintain my new frames. Overall, it was one of my best experiences. Most defiantly, check them out & ask for Sabba!

My experience here was top notch. Because I’ve had LASIK in the past, my vision plan allows me to use my frames allowance on non-prescription sunglasses, and I came here hoping to do just that. I also threw in an eye exam for a small co-pay. The store itself is very clean and bright, and every staff member I dealt with was friendly. Dr. Jon Vogel handled my exam and gave me a copy of my slightly farsighted prescription for possible future use(I was nearsighted prior to LASIK). I then went to pick out some sunglasses. Unfortunately for me the prices are much higher in the store than if I’d shopped online, but that’s to be expected. Between the co-pay and excess on top of the allowance(which I did actually get 25% off of as well), I only saved 20−30% compared to shopping online, but of course part of that is due to me being hell-bent on purchasing a sports brand made for tennis and golf. If I’d been willing to purchase cheaper sunglasses, my savings would’ve been substantially higher. But at least I do have peace of mind from the exam and was able to try on several sunglasses prior to selecting one. I really can’t think of one thing to complain about. I never had to wait more than a few minutes during any step of the process.

I just wanted to check in to an Optometrist because I haven’t seen one in a while and let’s be honest, UCSHIP was going to end soon for me, so I might as well have used all the resources given to me. I made an appointment the day before and walked into the office. I was greeted by some nice receptionist. An assistant got the basic information down and briefly looked at my eyes, then I was able to see Dr. Vogul(the younger one). He’s fantastic! Really personable and really knowledgable. I really did feel like I was in good hands. I informed him of some stuff and he did some tests that were included in my insurance with no costs to ensure that there was nothing wrong with my retina. He really did go above and beyond what was necessary. I then had to check out glasses. The people there are professional and patient. I took my sweet time picking out the right frames and they made it work. They didn’t have the particular color I wanted, but they said they’d order it. The only caveat that I have is that they take a long time to make my glasses. I came in three weeks ago and I’m still waiting for my glasses. I called in and wanted to get a progress report and they said that the frames just came in, but the lenses have yet to be ordered/installed. I would hope a professional establishment like this would’ve ordered the both of them at the same time, but c’est la vie. Not that big of a deal to me.

I absolutely love Dr Vogel and his team! I have keratoconus and have not been able to see properly for the past few years. Dr Vogel went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that I got everything I needed. And for the 1st time in years I have been able to see properly. They really care and will take care you. I Highly recommend Village Eyes!

Yeah, I know, 5 stars, I must be a ringer. Nope, just a guy that needed glasses for the first time ever and I could not have picked a better people to turn to for my needs. First, Dr. Lorin Vogel is such a great guy, told me everything I needed to know during my examination, after my examination, and made me feel so much better about needing glasses for the first time in my life. I have no doubt the other doctors in the practice are just as great. When it comes to your eyewear, you won’t need to leave after your examination. A fantastic young man named Zee got me set up with my glasses, the frames I wanted and everything, back in June. When recently there was a problem with my frames, I brought them in and he set me up with a replacement pair no questions asked. This is just a great place filled with great people only looking to help you out with one of the most important things we all need to take care of, our eyes.

Village Eyes is the best! I’ve been going here for over 15 years and it’s always been a great experience. I’ve seen Dr. Jon Vogel, Dr. Lorin Vogel and Dr. Donna Weiss and they’ve all been amazing. I used to have chronic dry eyes(the Sahara Desert of eyes) so they helped me find the best contact lenses, eye drops, and punctal plugs and it made a big difference. My eyes have been comfortable ever since. The staff is friendly, appointments are always on time, and they have a nice selection of glasses too — I always go here when I need a new pair. 6 stars!

Eyeglasses are glasses to me, so it’s the service that makes the big difference for me. Whenever I come here, the place is clean and the people are friendly and quick to greet me and ask how they can help. I’ve never had to wait long to pickup a prescription, and when a few glass frames have had no problem with hassles. Repair time does take a little long I think, but that’s the sign of a busy business I suppose. Never had to have a repeat repair service, and the cases they give you for the glasses are the good hard sturdy ones not those flimsy little numbers. I’ll give village eyes 4 stars. Location is great in the village, just barely any street parking, though I’m sure you can park in the whole foods parking lot if it’s just a quick visit without having any issues.

Terrific service here. One of the hinges on my glasses broke and I needed it fixed ASAP. They not only had the special part I needed but also installed it for me in 15 minutes, free of charge. I was totally expecting this to cost $ 50. Not many places treat customers this well.

Quality doctors are hard to come by. I’ve been seeing a slew of optometrists at Kaiser and have had a different optometrist each time for the past few years. I can confidently say I’ll be sticking with Dr. Hu here for all my eye care needs. I was able to schedule a next-day appointment and came in to find myself being taken care of right away. Somebody at the line of computers checked me in and there was one additional form to sign that is not posted on their website. Filling out the papers beforehand really does save you time so do that and streamline the process! A young staff(an intern?) did some initial measurements of my eye and the glaucoma eye puff evaluation. She took quite a bit of time on the latter(when comparing to the previous times I’ve had this done), but I could tell she made sure to be as accurate as possible and took her time. I was then taken to the exam room and did not have to wait too long until Dr. Hu greeted me and inspected my eyes and glasses. Apparently they were having IT problems all day with their computers logging them out of their system, but that did not delay the process too long and I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth things went. Dr. Hu was very thorough in explaining what she was going to do and why. They have some fancy equipment and use computer to display projections and have lots of digitalized equipment. Quite the nice upgrade when I’m so used to Kaiser’s old janky machines. As part of the wellness eye exam, Dr. Hu asked if I wanted to have my eyes dilated as it will help her get a better view of the retina for observation. Do it if you haven’t had an eye exam in a while, but skip it if you’re going to be driving or don’t do well with blurred vision for long periods of time. They give you a mydriatic eye drop that will prevent your pupil from constricting and it lasts for about 4 hours. As a result, you’ll have blurred vision for quite a period of time. The eye drops take 10 – 15 min to kick in and Dr. Hu let me look at frames while we waited for the time to pass. Lily, who helped me with my frame selection, was an absolute doll. She gave me a run down of the selections they had(designer and basics that run cheaper that insurance will more than likely cover most of the frame price). I informed her that I really like my current frames, but thought it was time for an upgrade(I’ve had my frames for 7 years now). She took one look at my face and glasses and gave me many suggestions that matched what I was looking for. We talked about the current trends in eyewear and she recommended me this gorgeous pair of glasses from Prodesign(Danish designed and Japanese assembled) that were similar to my current glasses, but different enough so that it still evoked change. I was completely sold and she noted that not many other places in the Westwood area carries the brand. Days later, Lily called me and informed me that my specs were ready and she was more excited about them than I was! She made sure they fit well and off I went with my glasses. Happy camper. Also note: if you have vision insurance, they won’t allow you to use the Unilocal deal to pay the difference you owe. But check in and get a free contact lens solution sample!

LOVE this place! Beautiful space and friendly people. Also, I was able to fill out my initial forms ahead of time because the docs are available and downloadable online. Dr. Golbahar is an absolute doll. She’s professional, personable and informative. The selection of glasses was quite sharp and current. They have a variety from Oliver Peoples, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and more. The woman that helped me pick out my new frames was an absolute gem as well. I’m terrible with names so I don’t remember unfortunately but she did a great job helping find a pair that fit my tiny face! She was patient, sweet and was clearly experienced in picking out frames for people. Excellent experience.

yeah, I dont think I’ll ever be coming back here again. Dr. Vogel is nice. dont get me wrong… but the service here is HORRIBLE and the waiting time is even worse. I had to wait 30 minutes before I even saw the doctor! On top of that the person who was helping was giving me an attitude. I dont know what for! Then I asked to get my contact lense exam done and they were going to charge me $ 130! AREYOUSERIOUS?! I could get a half a years supply of contacts for that much. I have NEVER ever ever had to pay for any of my eye exams at Golds Optometry and the staff there are so friendly and so nice. Then I got my insurance summary and Dr. Vogel charged 200 dollars! What a rip off. If youre going to charge high prices, at least train your staff to be more friendly and more customer oriented. Worst office team I’ve ever seen. EVER.

I’ve come here for my optometry needs since the late 80’s. Dr. Jon Vogel is simply the best around! Christine his office manager is fantastic and has been here forever so she knows the clients and really makes them feel welcome and like family. If there are frames or styles that you love and don’t see on display just ask and if they’re available and can be ordered they’ll make it happen. My family is loyal to Village Eyes and will be until Dr. Vogel retires which I hope he never does because he’s absolutely my favorite.
