This is a beautiful, historic building built on Vine at Fountain: a real throwback to Hollywood before it was the sprawling monstrosity that the city is today. It’s one of the few fire escape buildings you’ll see in Hollywood, but the real attraction is the courtyard: a wonderland of lush greenery, hidden away from the street by a narrow tunnel and the building’s red brick walls. The Villa Elaine is one of the best apartments I have ever lived in. It is certainly not«glamorous» by any means — you won’t find a gym or a pool — but what it lacks in ostentatiousness, it more than makes up for in character. It’s fantastically managed by Randy L and his team of maintenance guys. I never had a problem in the year I was there and were it not for the fact that I had to move to NYC, I’d still be there. This place is a GEM. Don’t miss out on it.

The building is incredibly charming, has an amazing courtyard and great diversity in tenants. Under new management since late 2014, and Randy the new manager is on point! Even though the building is now under property management this year(2015), i feel comfortable that all concerns will be addressed as long as Randy remains the manager. He has been very prompt and attentive to any concerns I have had so far. Love The Villa!

I lived at Villa Elaine from 1996 to 1999. The rent was $ 325 for a studio. I bet it’s at least twice that now. I have good memories of living there. Young artsy types, families, ethnically diverse. Loud music at times. Very close to all things Hollywood. The area has become more commercialized over the years so not sure it has the same vibe as it did then. You can feel the«Ghosts» of old Hollywood in this place. Go to the roof for some fresh air. Orson Welles once lived here. Enjoy your stay!
