Went here with some of my friends, it was kinda great. The food although hot was greasy and flavourless. I find this restaurant a little noisy, their dessert is not that bad plus a glass of wine. The ambiance was nice, my friends stake was great, I wonder if I also had the steak, my meal would have been better. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Will be back.

I see why this place has five stars. Incredible food and great service. Place is small though. There is only three booths.

Locals say Vicky has been cooking at her restaurant for over 30 years. She is the definition of hard working and always smiling and cheerful. This is the place to go if you are looking for a low key place that serves delicious home cooked style Mexican food in the neighborhood. I work near by and passed by many times before stopping in, it’s such an unassuming place. So glad I did though as it’s become my favorite lunch option in the area. Never had a bad meal here, fresh and wholesome cooking.

This is a really great hole in the wall place! Only three booths and one tiny table. Soooo good! Actually met Vicky, total abuelita status :-) George and I were able to practice or Spanish too, LOL. The waitress was super nice and just an overall great experience. G had chilequiles con salsa Verde and I had chicharon con salsa rojo, handmade tortillas, beans and rice too. My kid goes to class at Casa0101 down the street and now I know where to wait for him!

My honey brought me here tonight and this is the kind of home-cooked food I scour Unilocal reviews in search of. Place was warm and super toasty on a chilly night and Ms. Vicky was reading her Spanish newspaper when we came in. She promptly took our order and cooked us up some super cheesy chicken enchiladas and delicious steak with beans and rice. Even the red salsa for her chips is bomb. My baby says he used to come here way back, on night’s when his momma was at church and he still wanted a home-cooked meal. Ms. Vicky is a treasure in this neighborhood, please support!

My husband & I were in ELA& were looking for a new place to eat. We were impressed with the other reviews & decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. We ordered the green & red enchiladas. They were both good but the chile verde ones were a little spicier & better. We met the cook & she told us everything here is made with fresh ingredients, no canned foods. I judge a Mexican place by their rice & hands down, theirs is the best. The beans were just as good. We live in Ventura County but we’ll make it a point to return. The only downsides are the limited seating & parking.

Not sure what all the hype is. Food is far from being good. The lady is very nice. But the food wasn’t too tasty. Very bland I ordered an Asada burrito. Will not be coming back. Prices are cheap

This place is awesome. Went here for my first time and got the chicken enchiladas. They were some of the best I’ve ever had. The chips and salsa was really good too!

Vicky’s Resteraunt is hands down the best mexican food in Boyle heights. Her verde enchilada con Pollo is amazing, I have never had better enchiladas at a resteraunt. The resteraunt does have limited seating and takes cash only.

Great food. Don’t let the décor intimidate you. The food is fresh, made to order and tasty. I had chicharron en salsa, and it was the best meal I had in years. I felt i was eating at my grandma’s house. I live in Valencia, but I will definitely come down for some good mexican home style cooking.

Very good food, if you want real good authentic Mexican food eat here, I was surprised how good it was, and very reasonably priced.

Was very surprised by the quality of their food. Their taco meat choices are few but all very tasty. They cook to order so you’re getting a freshly prepared meal. Highly recommend!

I love this food, and the people working there are some of the most kind people I’ve ever met. It doesn’t have much seating, and I was in a hurry. I grabbed 4 tacos for $ 6 and had an incredible conversation while I waited. I’ll definitely be back!

I ate here a couple months ago and was greatly impressed. It is a few steps from the Soto Street Metro station. This place serves the type of Mexican food my abuelita would have made. In fact, the cook and owner(Vicky) is an elderly lady who might as well be everyone’s abuelita. She was literally in that tiny kitchen cooking wtih a waitress working the front. She makes food that is not the usual tacos, even though she makes that stuff. She goes deeper into little known Mexican specialties. The atmosphere is literally homey.

Order an enchiladas plate to go since this place is so close to home. I was really happy with how good they were. They make their enchiladas with queso fresco cheese which gives it more of a light refreshing taste and it’s great! Plus they give u 3 enchiladas in the plate and it’s very fulfilling. I’ll def be back— oops wrong Vicky’s! But maybe I’ll try this one too!

I love this restaurant. I love everything about it: the food, the people who work there, the aging booths and décor. It’s like you were watching a 70s movie set in Boyle Heights and suddenly found yourself INIT. Food-wise, it’s like going to your abuelitas house, being asked if you’re hungry, and finding a plate of homecooked goodness placed in front of you. I’ve had the chuletas en chile verde, caldo de pollo and a carne asada torta(once I like something, I get it again and again, what can I say). Going back? DEFINITELY!

This place is owned by a 80-year-old lady who is also the cook!!! There are no gimmicks, no canned food, no corporate agenda. If you’re looking for a spot to grab some authentic Mexican food, check this place out.

Ok… this might be cheating but I do know the owner of this place. She’s so sweet!!! The food is terrific and the prices are great. The bad thing about this place is the parking. It’s street parking… a few spots right in front but you can park on the side of the restaurant near some houses. They are doing construction for the MTA gold line right in front which doesn’t help with the parking either. Do not park at the laundry mat, they will tow. Other than that… highly recommened. :-)
