Hooo baby! Tried some of Velvet Rope’s fare at LA Cookie Con this past weekend and was impressed. Loved the Habanero Peanut Butter and Jelly. But the Rocky Road Ghost Pepper was amazing. It was a taste sensation in my mouth and then came the kick. I loved it. I look forward to trying more flavors soon.

The cake truffles are sold at my local farmer’s market, and I’ve become addicted to them over the past 9 months. They’re consistently delicious, and you can tell the ingredients are high quality. Plus, they’re beautifully made and packaged, so they make a great gift. The red velvet, carrot, double chocolate, coconut and lemon flavors are especially good.

Tasted the Salted Caramel Apple Oatmeal and Rocky Road Ghost Pepper cookies. Taste of these cookies were delish and flavors complimented each other fabulously. Consistency of each cookie varied. The salted caramel apple oatmeal was soft due to the apple, but rocky road was dry and crunchy. I prefer my cookies soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The $ 28 price tag for a tub of cookies were a bit high– ok way too high. I’ve had better cookies for free. I know… don’t hate me– but it’s my review so take it easy on me, cookie lovers! Still… I am a fan of the two I tasted… But not die hard enough to pay the $ 21 shipping and handling. The cookies were hard the next day and they fell apart when you pick them up or take a bite. Maybe Velvet Rope cookie packagers can think of a better way to maintain the freshness of these awesome cookie goodness. That is all… — Cookie Monster

When you frequent local events, both large and small, where small, independent vendors congregate, you kind of get used to this positive energy that permeates everything, from the hardworking craftsmen, bakers, cooks, and sellers plying their trades, to their carefully-made products, each with its own individual charm. I’m talking about events like the 626 Night Market during the Summer in Arcadia, the OC Night Market in Costa Mesa, Chinatown Summer Nights in, well… Chinatown, and many others. Even then, you sometimes come across a particularly cool vendor that just exudes passion for what they do. David is one of those people. Of the years I’ve been running into him, he’s always happy and positive, despite being hounded on all sides for his delicious cookies and truffles. It makes buying these carefully-crafted delicacies that much more pleasurable. Now, on to the good stuff! You will find some of the craziest cookie flavors you’ve ever heard of when you walk up to this booth; but don’t let that deter you. When done right, the craziest combinations usually turn out to be the most amazing. The sweet Habanero cookie is among the most popular, and I can personally attest to the fact that if you love sweet & spicy foods, you may end up falling in love with this one. They have a great selection of other flavor combinations, as well, including Coffee Toffee– with strong chocolaty notes– Salted Caramel Apple Oatmeal with just a hint of salt to round it out perfectly, and a few others. If you can’t decide, they’re always handing out free samples, which usually narrows down the options. They also know how to make a mean truffle. They’re rich, decadent, and hefty,(probably due to the cake batter-like texture), and look so pretty, it’s almost impossible to shovel it all into your mouth without feeling a bit guilty. Didn’t stop me, though. And they’re all packed so neatly, they also make great gifts. Just make sure you don’t leave them in a hot car or carry them around in direct Sunlight, as they will go south quickly. The prices are fair for what you get, and considering the amazing people you’re buying from, this is one booth you can walk away from feeling perfectly satiated.

David rocks. He’s funny, too, and his cake truffles, rocky road sweet /salty cookies are yummy. Would recommend for your social occasion!

They were at Chinatown Summer Nights. The little cake bites we bought were just okay. I think they dried out a little bit from when they were made to when we ate them that evening. If I buy directly from their bakery, I think they might be a much better quality. It was nice to try them out. I would not go out of my way to purchase more. They are pricey, like most of these cake type of desserts usually are. If I happen to be in their area, I would give them another chance!

I was at the 626 night market when I found this little gem, and boy am I glad I did! In short: it’s friggin’ delicious! Seriously hard to impress me when it comes to sweets. I had a sample of the tiramisu and decided to go all in and get a box. Every flavor tasted like what it was supposed to. To the T. Not too sweet, velvety on the inside, and crunchy outside. Service was great! And I’m just about to place an order online for more! Totally recommend this to anyone looking for delicious sweet treats!

All I have to say is WOW! I am so glad I found this little gem. The Velvet Rope Bake Shop makes the most amazing cake truffles. They melt in your mouth. They have a variety of flavors to choose from, including Happy Hour flavors(contains alcohol) that are to die for. The Dirty Martini tastes exactly like a Dirty Martini. I couldn’t believe it. The Margarita is amazing too. Hands down, I would recommend this place to everyone. What a great gift for any occasion.
