Russ, I believe, is the name of the proprietor at Uncle Berch’s. He used to partner with Uncle Berch in Northern-Central California and now distributes his fine oils here in Southern California. He’s straight-forward, knowledgeable and passionate about his oils, which range from jalapeño– to garlic-infused, with some habanero here and there. The real treat, however, are the pure olive oils — from the smooth Ascolano to the complex Mission. He has unlimited bread(on toothpicks) for you to taste-test your way to happiness, eventually culminating in the purchase of one of his small/medium/large sized bottles. Warning: this olive oil is VERY good, probably the best I’ve been able to have in California, likely because it was pressed in recent months(the degradation on OO is extremely fast).
