I lived here for one year and was very disappointed with the management. I should have know that from the start this was not a good fit for me when the apartment manager Leslie missed by lease signing appointment TWICE! By the second time, my roommate and I did not have enough time to search for another apartment as we were starting school so we agreed to sign the lease with the understanding that we would have a discount our first month. All was well for the first three months until issues with our unit started to occur. The tubs are cheaply made and it cracked three times. Each time she had maintenance paint over it to cover the crack. Additionally our unit flooded THREETIMES. They did nothing to remedy the fact that they claimed it was our upstairs neighbors leaving their tub on. We later learned from people in the apartment that a unit on the top floor above us had a washing machine against regulations. Turned out it was Leslie’s unit. After multiple maintenance requests, emails and phone calls about the last flood leaving us with no lights and us having finals to study for, we spent two weeks without lights. Finally, we went directly to the maintenance worker who was awesome and solved our problem right away. Additionally, our unit had silver bugs that we googled and learned came from pipes beneath us. They were disgusting! One night my roommate also woke up with a roach on her arm. After making a complaint and maintenance request, we were told our unit was fumigated, but when asked for a receipt as proof, Leslie refused to provide one claiming that the pest control people do not provide receipts. Finally when we were ready to leave, she told us that we were going to have over $ 300 of our deposit taken for repainting of the apartment and«MISC» items which according to her is standard. I showed her the CA Evidence Code 19.50 that protects us and basically says that landlord canNOT charge flat fees off of the security deposit and if it’s more than $ 125 they must provide an itemization of the charges upon request. So I did and it was absolutely ridiculous! Who knows how many tenants that do not know the law are being charged this fee by her. We contacted corporate after she refused to give us their number(googled it) and sent them a letter. Our deposit checks were later received in full. THANKFULLY! Basically, stay far away! I would give it zero stars if I could.
