At the very last possible moment a client requested that I purchase a kimono for them for an event — thank god for Yamamoto-San! Knowing nothing about kimonos(pricing, how they work, etc.) I know that I could have been taken advantage of(and I know there are merchants out there who would just love to do so) but Yamamoto-San did not hard sell or upsell in any way. She even suggested a number of options which were not very costly, and threw in a few complimentary items. She even made herself available to come by my office to assist my client with putting on the kimono which is a lot more complicated a process than I was previously aware. I know that she also rents kimonos to folks — a number of my associates do so regularly for various events like Nisei Week and weddings. Yamamoto-San rules!!!

Yamamoto San, you are a lady and a legend! Thanks for all your help with our kimono rental(even showing up to the event to help tie it)!! Couldn’t have happened without you. Unilocalers, it might be an obscure need, but should you ever need to rent a beautiful kimono, this is your only choice.

Yamamoto-san will really take care of you if you need a kimono for your ceremony. She will even come to the wedding to tend to the kimono for photos and such(for a nominal fee). If you are looking to buy, she can also make you one. All the traditional styles.

My daughter was getting married and I did not want to go shopping for a mother-of-the bride dress and shoes. I decided to rent a formal kimono. After some searching online I discovered Tokyo Bridal & Tuxedo right in my backyard, Little Tokyo. Mrs. Yamamoto had quite a selection of formal kimono for me to choose from. She was very helpful in sifting through what I already had and what I needed for dressing. She arranged for a make-up person for me and she dressed me on «The Day.» My daughter dressed(and undressed) into a kimono(we owned) during the reception which Mrs Yamamoto quickly and expertly took care of. All in all, the service was outstanding. I should mention, Mrs. Yamamoto’s English is not very strong, but functional. Also, her tiny shop is cluttered… if you are able to overlook this factor, you will get what you need.

I needed a tuxedo for an event and I like small businesses and I like Little Tokyo and I’m glad I found this place. The owner has been in business for quite a while, even before this location. It looks like a small shop, but there’s more to it where all the suits and dresses are stored. The owner speaks both Japanese and English, but sometimes her English is difficult for some people, especially over the phone. She’s great and I liked my whole experience from the fitting and borrowing the tux for several days until I had to return it.

Tokyo Bridal & Tuxedo has been around for so many years. I went here some time ago to replace my torn yukata. I got one for $ 35. I like the selection and it’s always great to chat with the owner.

Yamamoto-San is a legend in Little Tokyo. Her kimonos and yukata are made from imported Japanese materials and looks/feel fabulous. I hired her to make me a kimono for Nisei Week and the price and quality were excellent. More than this, she is a great artist in her own right and a very gracious, happy and kind person. Many cheap kimonos and yukata are on sale all over Little Tokyo. Stop in here and see how affordable a real one is and show up at your next event looking a little different. For 150 – 250, you can have something stunning and it kicks the butt of a mediocre armani suit.

Tokyo Bridal… A friend of mine was on a hunt for the perfect kimono for a wall decoration. WEFOUNDITHERE!!! Yes, they are pricey. It’s an expensive wall decoration BUT technically it’s a bridal gown so you expect it to by pricey anyway. The japanese woman(probably the owner) was not very welcoming at first, but she warmed up to us. The first batch she brought was ALLSOBEAUTIFUL… none of them really clicked though. After she brought out a few more batches it was narrowed down to 2. My friend finally chose one and they agreed on a price. It was so nice!!! She even wrapped it in the traditional wrapping paper, gave him her business card(with both hands), and we were on our way. I heart kimonos… :D
