Horchata Frapp. it’s the bomb. Their Banana Nut Muffin, is the best. Service is great, but may be just a bit under handed. But worth the wait.

Horchata latte or frappé and Chocolate Mexicano are my faves! This is one of my fave coffee places in the world. And they are dog friendly, which is super important to me. Everyone is always kind and friendly with very fast service.

I have nothing else to review beyond the Iced Horchata latte. It’s like nothing like I’ve ever had before! Really a treat! It has all the components you love about Horchata and coffee — combined. The place is cute, not a ton of seating but enough that you could plant yourself outside on a nice day if indoor seating is full. I’m definitely coming back when I’m in town next, just to try some more stuff on the menu.

Wowzer! Got a hot Cafecito Cubano Con Leche. It was delish! Totally enjoyed it. Already tried their popular item — Horchata Latte. Had it iced, it was good. I liked it. So far, only tried two muffins. I would say the Tres Leches Muffin beats the Banana Nut Muffin, which wasn’t bad at all. Just win out ‘cuz it was more moist and quite sweet. Omg, just saw from my own pics that the Horchata Latte Cupcake was hiding in the back(hidden/not that visible)…didn’t see that. Kinda wanted to try it. Oh well, next time… Service was pretty good~

Best Horchata Latte I’ve ever had! The taste of actual Horchata is very present. I’ve had other drinks that are supposed to taste like Horchata but they don’t. I also tried their banana nut muffin, and it was really good! The drinks were slow to come out. There were 2 girls working at the time, one was at the register and the other making drinks. I could tell they were a bit overwhelmed because I asked for our drinks iced and she made them hot, and asked for my name twice. Then when I told her that the drinks were supposed to be iced she asked me again if I wanted them iced or blended. I wasn’t annoyed or upset. I just felt bad for the two girls, because they had about 10 – 15 people waiting for their drinks. She apologized and made our drinks as I ordered them. This place is always busy, I know because I drive by it every time I go to my mom’s house. So two employees is just not enough for a busy place like this!

Love Tierra Mia. One of the best Spanish Coffee Shops in LA. Every drink(hot or cold) is amazing. The rice and beans frappé & coco frappé are to die for. The Horchata Latte is also bomb. The locations have a cool, laid back hipster vibe. The photos of all the different coffees from each Latin country is also neat to see. The pastries are all good(the pineapple/cheese pastry is a fav) & customer service is always good. The owners are killing it. Every time I come, there is always a sign of a new location opening.

Finally a coffee shop close enough to walk to that represented the community. Horchata frappé and latte are my go to drinks. Tres leche muffin was moist but not as wet as a tres leche cake.

When I visited Highland Park I noticed there were a lot of new coffee shops in basically every corner. My friend recommended this place so we came around 6pm to grab a cup of coffee. I’m not a huge coffee drinker but I wanted to try something new(I tend to get chai lattes) so after checking out their menu I decided to get their Horchata latte. A lot of people on Unilocal recommended this drink as well so that settled it. This drink was perfect for me. It wasn’t too strong in coffee flavor and it wasn’t too sweet. I actually finished the whole thing! If you also like pastries I recommend their tres leches muffin.

Horchata latte. Yum. This little location is in the heart of highland park and although there’s not much around it’s definitely worth the coffee run! They are commonly known for their horchata latte(hot or cold). They also make a frappé version of this one. I like to indulge in a horchata latte once in a while. It’s sweet and doesn’t have the flavor of a typical coffee. However, I don’t think I could drink this on a daily basis. My mom thinks it’s too sweet. However, I think it’s quite delicious. They have pastries similar to Portos like the cheese Danish or guava cheese Danish. I like to come here and grab a seat outside while I enjoy my drink. The location is small but very clean and crisp. Definitely worth trying!

That’s what I’m talking about! Had read reviews about their Horchata Latte and headed over on Tuesday afternoon. Location: right in the heart of a residential neighborhood, across from a school. I love places like this; neighborhood establishment and doesn’t feel too commercial. Parking: Found shaded street parking right across from shop, but school was not in session(I get a feeling this could have been different on a school day). Décor: Simple, but quaint. On one wall they had pictures of the different Latin American Bean providers. Cool. Their pastries(which looked delicious, especially the Horchata Latte Cupcake) are in a Carved Wooden Case. There are only a few tables inside and a few tables outside w/umbrellas. Baristas: Friendly. Right before I drank my Latte, a group of firemen walked in(again, love the neighborhood feel of the place). They asked about my drink because it looked so delicious. Horchata Latte: Excellent. Its more of a dessert because it was very sweet, but I’m a fan. Served in a big ceramic mug(I couldn’t finish it). Definitely bringing my husband here.

Finally something that I can say tastes better than Starbucks. Where else would you be able to get the best of both worlds of horchata and coffee?! Tierra Mia!!! The first time I came here I ordered the horchata frappé and I instantly fell in love. It’s sweet, creamy, and refreshing. Second time around I decided to get the iced horchata latte and again, I was impressed. I have to admit though, the drinks are a little too sweet so next time I’ll just make sure to ask for my drinks half sweetened. My sister ordered the caramelo macchiato and it was better than I expected! And again. Way better than Starbucks(sorry!). For the most part, all drinks are priced under $ 5. I also noticed they had pastries i.e. muffins and stuff. But I’ll save the carbs for next time around. Friendly staff with a clean & modest interior. I’m so happy this place is literally just minutes from my home. It’s located in a family friendly street of Highland Park. Plenty of free street parking. Just make sure to read the street signs if you decide to park by the Elementary school. Also!!! Beware… The first time I came around 3:30pm on a weekday when kids barely got out of school… Oh lord. This place was packed and the line was ridiculously long.

I’ve been wanting to try Tierra Mia for awhile now, and decided to stop by on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I had read the Unilocal reviews raving about the horchata frappé and decided to give that a try although I typically get mocha frapps at Starbucks– I’m glad I did. It’s a sweet(but not sickeningly sweet, which I was worried about) blended drink that marries the traditional taste of a horchata drink with coffee– add a dash of cinnamon on whipped crème and it’s magic. The Highland Park café is located on a side street with a few other small businesses nearby– a Mexican restaurant, laundromat, drycleaner, and general store. It’s quaint and the majority of seating is outside– the inside of the café is pretty small and when I went there was a line that moved pretty quickly. There are a few tables inside, but it’s a bit cramped, so I’d opt for the outdoor seating if weather permits. The 16 oz medium horchata frappé was $ 4.50, street parking was easy to find and free, and the café has a laidback, everyone is welcome vibe. I’ll be back!

Two days in a row in this spot. It is kinda on the way to work… give or take a mile or two. I am just ecstatic that there is a Tierra Mia close to my area! No need to wait to go to downtown, Santa Fe Springs to get my horchata latte fix. I need to venture to other drinks eventually but until then, I am perfectly happy with a large cup of horchata latte. I made a run for my coworkers and ordered a variety of drinks, of course majority are my fave drink(blended and hot). Also ordered the Mexican chocolate frappé, rice and beans frappé, chai tea latte, and a strawberry mojito lemonade. They all loved it and guzzled their drinks within minutes! Me, I like to sip and savor. Ordered a few bakery items as well, blueberry muffin, piña colada muffin, tres leche muffin, chocolate chip muffin, and the best of them all, horchata latte cupcakes! What?! Yes, deliciously irresistible cupcakes. Service was great both times. Staff were friendly and organized. You get that vibe that they enjoy working here and they have fun. Parking is street but I had ko issues both times. I will be mostly likely back tomorrow and hopefully it will still be the case. Sorry, Starbucks but Tierra Mia has my latte heart for now.

This place has a great mix of coffees and pastries with a Latin American flair! Cute décor and very cozy café with limited outdoor and indoor seating. My favorite pastry is the tres leches muffin! It’s very moist and sweet. My favorite coffee drinks are: –Iced Coffee(= Iced Americano): Very strong! –Cafecito Cubano con Leche: Very strong! They use shots of espresso with condensed milk and cinnamon. –Horchata Latte: Tasty! Great option for a warm drink. –Horchata Frappé: Cool and refreshing! Perfect for a hot day. Parking: Very limited street parking. May need to walk a couple blocks but worth the trip!

This Tierra Mia location is situated in a residential neighborhood across the street from a school. It fits in nicely with the other small businesses along the street. The less modern feel to it allows it to not stand out like a sore thumb among the older buildings around it. They have both indoor and outdoor seating that comprise of about 8 tables total. The interior has a very homey feel to it. The walls are titled like the interior of a kitchen and half of the shop is taken up by the kitchen and ordering area. The first thing that caught my eye here was the pastries counter. They have tres leches cupcakes, horchata cupcakes and piña colada cupcakes to name a few. I’ll definitely have to return on a cheat day for one of those tres leches cupcakes. The second thing I noticed was how cheerful and friendly the staff was. There were about 4 different staff members working and they all were in a great mood, laughing and conversing while they worked. This made for a relaxed environment and took away from the potential coffee shop pretentious air that some shops can exude. I ordered a medium iced coffee with almond milk and paid around $ 3 for it. It was good. It didn’t induce any negative reactions and provided the boost of energy I needed after a long day. I would definitely return for pastries and coffee, probably to go, as the venue isn’t the biggest.

Having been born in Highland Park, it really is ‘tierra mia’, more so than anywhere else, and I’m happy that Tierra Mia chose HP for its new location. This storefront is much smaller than the location I visited in Pico Rivera. There are just a few tables inside and a few out on the sidewalk. The counter and display also take up a compact space, but they put their prized goodies front and center(horchata cupcake, tres leches cupcakes, piña colada cupcake.) This location may be better suited for to-go orders or if you’re studying on your own. It’s also not on a main/busy street(situated across a school), which I personally prefer, especially if I’m there to focus on present company or a good book instead of my default observing/people-watching. But what I love the most about Tierra Mia is that their coffee doesn’t need anything at all — it’s beautiful and delicious on its own. I had a great first experience here, talking to staff about their different roasts and the notes of flavor I might be able to pick up on. I very rarely stray from light roasts, and usually add just a hint of sugar and cream to soften any lingering harshness of the roasted beans. The employee at the counter convinced me to try a new flavor(Peruvian), which happens to be a medium-dark roast. I was hesitant, and he suggested that I just try it iced on its own before I add anything to it. I waited just a few minutes for my order to be ready, and I tried it straight black and iced. I had braced myself for overwhelming bitterness, but was surprised to pick up on floral hints and a great complexity of flavor. I’m excited to become a regular patron of Tierra Mia and to see this location flourish!
