Kanom krok on the weekends. Kanom krok are heaven, so Thong Lo is heaven. Mmm… coconut…

This is quite an interesting half restaurant/half mini market. They have a pretty big selection of Asian, mostly Thai snacks, that seemed very tempting and well priced. The restaurant seems kind of like an after thought which I was surprised by. Though I didnt buy anything the friend that I came with bought a box of madelaines for only $ 1.99 that he said were very tasty.

They have a lot of different products from Thailand and sometimes even Japan. Their Lays chips, which can range from basil to crab or lobster, is really good to try. They sell quite a lot of different plums like preserved dried plums which are good! Outside of the general snack foods, they also have some Thai gifts like keychains and instruments(which are really expensive!). It is very interesting!

I came in here today to look around. buy some some snacks. This place has a few Thai Desserts in addition to Thai packaged goods… like chips /cookies /candies… etc. It’s an okay place and a little overpriced. I thought there would be more desserts here similar to Bhan Kanom Thai in Hollywood( ) but there wasn’t that much here. My mom bought some Thai Desserts here, the«Foi Tong» and when she got home she found out they had green mold on them. There’s no expiration date on the packages so you don’t really know how long they’ve been sitting out for. I like that there are specialty items here, so that’s a plus. They have a wide variety of Thai Lay’s chips in flavors like Basil, Bacon, Seaweed, and some others. If you’re looking for homemade Thai Desserts, I would go to Bhan Kanom Thai instead.

Located next to Chimney and in front of LAX-C. This is a new snack shop. I feel like a big kid in a candy store when I came here. When you first walk in there are cold drinks on the right and ice cream in the back. Then as you walk in you will see some tables and all the snacks and candies on the left. Variety is decent here, but price is a little bit more than normal. However, they do have other brands of snacks that other places don’t carry. I came specifically for the Lays but in Thai flavor. Never had them so I wanted to give it a try. I got the spicy basil, thai chili paste and cheese, and another bag that looks like it is hot dog flavor. Along with that I also got Dr. Ten chips as well. Overall this place is unique and has plenty of tasty snacks but a little bit more expensive.

Nearly every conceivable Thai flavored junk food now available in Chinatown. It grand opened Dec 16thIIRC, in between LAX-C and Chimney. While the Nine Elephant energy drinks are absolutely disgusting, the Dr. Ten shrimp crackers + the«spicy basil» flavored Thai Ruffles(called Lays) are just perfect with a good beer(and I’m not implying you go get Singha). This is operated by the nice khanom krok folks outside. On the weekends, they will continue to sell khanom krok(small coconut cakes), on the weekdays, they will carry the same khanom kroks on the inside. The perfect thing to do is to get some khanom krok from Thong Lo, grab a cup of latte from Chimney, and eat them outside on the benches in between the 2 stores. Prices are not the cheapest, but the spicy basil Ruffles really reminded me of the old«Cajun» ruffles from the 90s. And that’s gotta be worth an extra $ 2.
