Bravo, Aunt Sheila(previous reviewer). Our market has grown to 3 full-time farmers– Asian veggies, honey and organic fruit, and organic olives. Now serviced by the same amazing bakery which frequents Mar Vista’s electric Sunday market. Lunch options abound. Behind Susan Hillyer, our exemplary manager, we’re determined to transform Wall Street into a culinary maelstrom to be rekoned with. Voice your opinion, locals! Every Saturday, rain or shine, 9 — 2PM.

As a homeowner and investor in the success of the economy of Downtown Los Angeles I couldn’t be more thrilled of the recent opening of the Saturday Farmer’s Market at the Flower District. While shopping at the Flower Mart on July 26th, 2014 I was delighted to see a Farmer’s Market celebrating it’s OPENINGDAY on Wall between 7th and 8th. However as quickly as my excitement had raced just as quickly did my heart sink knowing that the farmer’s would be ho-hum providing«no spray» produce but when asked, they do use fertilizers. I’ve shopped at Los Angeles Farmer’s Markets for 30 years and know many of the farmers and their produce, some of my favorite are now at the Flower District! Jaime Farms, certified organic, grow several varieties of seasonal vegetables and they have fabulous eggs. Also G Fruit, certified organic, grows seasonal fruit and during the summer peak have 5 — 6 plum varieties, apricots, peaches, nectarines and beautiful Black Turkey Figs. There are food vendors and one of the best Southern California BBQ masters, Big Mista’s, a Farmer’s Markets mainstay is at the Flower District, I’m a pulled pork regular and will occasionally have their ribs. Along with Big Mista’s the Market has an Asian Skewer Vendor, which is very good, a Salvadoran vendor and of course fresh Kettle Corn. The vendors at this market are a microcosm of the ones you’ll find at Santa Monica, Hollywood and Pasadena. I’ve been to all the local downtown Farmer’s Markets and they’re alright but the Flower District Market is something special. I had the opportunity to meet the managers of the Flower District Farmer’s Market and their vision for this market is to become the«Chef’s Market,» where the Downtown Chefs shop on Saturdays.(matter of fact, the Chef of Church n State was there today) With their contacts, experience of opening Farmer’s Markets and incredible energy, I expect the«Chef’s Market» to be the premier shopping spot for us foodies by Christmas.

I’m so excited that this market has opened a block behind our loft. Today was the first day and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of vendors and the quality of this vendors. We scored some great stuff — homemade nut butters, olive oil, ginger mate limeade, asparagus, avocados, roasted peanuts and some free flowers. I can’t wait to go back next weekend and get some pickles(we ran out of cash today). Thanks The WALL — nicely done!
