Im sure this place is great and they probably give better service I just walked in on a rainy day(literally and figuratively)

I don’t write reviews often, but this place definitely deserves one. The Springs has become my special go-to place to do some work and a place for me to clear my head. The environment and staff is what had me sold. I love the open and artsy-industrial feel of the place and a always leave with a great feeling. They have a decent selection on their menu, but I’m always here for their selection of teas. I have Pete to thank for trying out the different types of teas and smoothies here. The smoothies are amazing. tastes milkshakes but are made of vegan products and and other juice ingredients. Prices are pretty standard for any juice bar here around DTLA, always on the pricey side but definitely worth considering the awesome environment here. Good vibes all the time. The place is often being improved; can’t wait to see how this place evolves over time. Not to mention M. Dot Design Studio sells their products here if you’re looking for any neat home decorations. Will definitely try out some of the classes offered here soon. Thanks for being my new favorite spot here in DTLA! Cheers.

Awesome spot in Arts district of DTLA. There is a free parking lot but it is small. The juice bar is in the front, with the yoga studio in the back. The kitchen was closed when I came but will be back to try it when it’s re-opened. The juice is amazing, though pricey. If only there was some deal/promo for this ;) The meditation class(free on weekday afternoons!) is great. I live in west LA but would come daily if I was closer. The space itself is very nice. Lots of seating and perfect to study/work/hang out. I heard its pet friendly as well.

I came here using Class Pass for my first yoga class in a long time and I enjoyed the atmosphere and class. The teacher(Gloria, I believe) was very welcoming and helped each student with the yoga poses. Although yoga is not my thing, for people who enjoy this type of exercise, I highly recommend this gem of a studio. There is also parking(free) in the front and in the back, which is very convenient and unusual for DTLA. The inside of the studio was clean and they provided free yoga mats. The inside of The Springs is super cute and the restaurant looked like a great, healthy place to eat. I ordered a smoothie(name I forgot, sorry) — it was delicious — but, it was overpriced.

*CLASSPASSREVIEW* Just took a beginners yoga class here last Sunday at 12 pm(12⁄27) with Stephanie Kang and thought it was very relaxing and helpful for newbies like me. Stephanie was helpful and friendly, and adjusted my poses as I usually don’t know what I’m doing when it comes to yoga. The Springs is a beautiful, hipster warehouse on the quieter side of the Arts District(a block away from Blue Bottle). It was totally empty on a Sunday afternoon, probably due to the holidays and/or the fact that they no longer have food(hopefully this will change in the upcoming new year!). Just some pros and cons: +Believe that hype. It’s a really great space and a perfect place for yoga and a juice afterwards. So LA, I know. +Small parking lot, but do street parking if that is full. Fortunately it’s not DTLA, so you’ll most likely be able to find something without a fight. +Affordable yoga classes. Beginner’s yoga was just $ 5, and there are a lot of other options like Flow and Vinyasa throughout the week as well. +All materials provided — yoga mat, cubbies, water/glasses, blankets, blocks. –Totally empty, which could be good/bad, depending on what you’re looking for. Again, probably just the time/season I went, will definitely change if they bring back the food. –Pricey smoothies/drinks — $ 10 + a pop. Not unusual in LA, but still. –No staff to speak of. Walked into the space, and there was literally not a soul in sight. One guy on his laptop ended up being the person who also helps with the smoothie/drinks, but didn’t figure that out until later. Will definitely update this when 2016 rolls around and their menu comes back. Check out the yoga classes if you have the opp!

Oh no! They’re not serving food anymore y’all! I’ve tried to swing by the Springs twice recently and keep forgetting that they’re not serving food anymore. They said that they’re renovating. I also heard a staffer say that they changed directions and don’t know when the food menu will be back. I’m sad about this but I also welcome the change. I felt like the menu was light on solid entrees but excelled at desserts and appetizers(the coconut rangoons were heavenly). It was also very, very expensive. However, most raw joints these days are expensive. The Wellness spa and yoga is still on and if you just want wine or juice, they’re still serving that as well. It’s just sad how quiet it is now without the bustle of people in there to eat. There are plenty of vegan spots downtown but I sure did like the ambience of the restaurant here. Hope the staff are ok!

The mint chip shake, Caesar salad, spicy«tuna» rolls, and Reuben were all delicious. The salads are huge, so they’re the best priced items on the menu. The Reuben is served open face on raw, dehydrated bread. Like bread fruit roll ups. Super tasty, but not as filling. Would prefer actual bread. I like the atmosphere of the Springs. It’s mellow, trendy, a bit rustic, and casual. They have a small parking lot, but street parking seems pretty available.

I admit, I discovered this place on Instagram but I am SO glad I did. I have been looking for a quiet, peaceful study spot that fulfills my inner so-cal girl quirks. The Springs is basically a renovated space that is a café, which serves healthy drinks, food, study space, yoga studio, and even a sauna! Sadly, they just began renovations on their kitchen so I have as of yet, gotten the chance to try out their food. It’s extremely spacious, even with an extended patio complimented by strings of fairy lights for those intimate, fun nights with friends. There are pillows on the wooden benches, which is great because it does get pretty uncomfortable after a while. The wifi is consistent and it’s definitely my new favorite work place. As for the drinks, it is over priced and super healthy. Basically, $ 11 for a smoothie and $ 10 for their pressed juices and almond milks. I am not the biggest fan of their almond milks but the heavy glass bottles that they come in are great and can be re-used. I usually get their $ 4 cup of teas because they have a great variety. There is even $ 6 sangria(which is not bottomless, unfortunately), that made my inner alcoholic scream with joy. I mean, a sangria in the afternoon surrounded by sunny, open spaces and tiny succulents on a wooden table is the definition of a great day. As for the yoga, there is that great weekend deal. $ 5 yoga on sat/sun? Yas, please count me in. Parking can be difficult, I admit because of the fact that their lot is so small. I have been lucky in finding parking(so far) but for the weekends, I would say definitely try to find street parking because it may be crowded. I love this place so much, I feel like I get healthier just by spending a minute basking in this place’s atmosphere.

This place is great! Amazing service, extensive choices on the menu, healthy, happy, everything. The server handled the complicated check splitting expertly, and she remembered what each of us ordered. Our water jug was constantly refilled, and the server checked in with us appropriately. High ceiling, fast wifi, friendly people. We were there for hours and nobody minded. my order of nachos salad was fresh, delicious, generous and healthy. It’s a good place to sit and talk. I like this place. I’ll come here again definitely. Parking is a little tricky though. There’s a small lot but it’s usually full. So imagine finding street parking in downtown LA. Yep. It’ll take about 15 minutes at the very least.

Sometimes bad things happen to ok people– in other words, sometimes your favorite restaurant in all of LA decides to close indefinitely for a revamping. Why. With that being said, it’s probably just karma giving me a smack in the behind. I’ve kept this little gem a secret for much longer than an avid Unilocaler should, especially considering how absolutely stunningly delicious the food and drinks are. With that being said, however, I must warn you that the food at The Springs is as hippity dippity as it could get – even by my beyond basic of basic LA standards. I’m talking kelp and zucchini«spaghetti carbonara» with cashew cream sauce and smoky coconut«bacon», spicy«tuna”-but-not-actually-tuna rolls, a raw vegan kale caesar, and nacho salads with a generous heap of cashew sour cream. It’s California cuisine taken to the next level – in other words, California cuisine meets PETA. Light, fresh, and beyond refreshing, a meal at The Springs is not only a treat for the tummy, but it’s also a feast for the eyes and nourishment for the soul. I wouldn’t expect anything less from a wellness spa located in the arts district of downtown Los Angeles. And as for the drinks? Of course they would have sake coolers that incorporate their house-made cold pressed juices. In total seriousness though, the sake cooler with the apple, ginger, and turmeric juice may be one of the best cocktails I’ve had in a while. Prices may be on the steeper end, but when you’re purchasing food for the spirit, it’s well worth it. One final note, do save room for dessert. It’d be an absolute sin not too– especially when the raw vegan brownies are that delectable. Fudgey, gooey, and bursting with chocolatey goodness, it would even satisfy the most PMS-y angsty young adult. Trust me, I speak from experience. I hate to do this to you – to rave about a place that isn’t set to open for a solid few weeks, but what did I say. Sometimes bad things happen to ok people; however, The Springs is a definite must-visit once they’re revamped, up, and running! An absolute fave.

Perfect place to detox, relax, chill, good healthy foods… If there’s parking inside… I’d rather not park in the streets far away since the area is not the safest looking. It’s a great ambiance, but the foods is overly pricy for what you get, tasteless, $$ kale salad?! This is my third time and last time ordering here. I might come for the music and spa but food sucked; i oaid 45 $ and still not satisfied, and the full is not a good feeling kind of full. The only good item, drink there is the matcha green tea smoothie.

What a great find! 10 mins from Eagle Rock, 15 mins from Pasadena. Started off with the Sake/Wine sangria along with the tuna roll sushi. They were both a compliment to each other. We decided to split the toco salad, so we ordered the larger portion which was enough to feed 3 people. To me, the prices seemed a little high but well worth it. We will definitely be back! I can’t wait to try the desserts. ;)

What a cool, hipster ambiance this spot has. We came in as we were craving smoothies, and since this was only .1 mile away from us, we decided to stop by and grab a drink. Upon entering, there is a restaurant section in front of us, and a sale section to the left of us. We ordered our drinks at the counter, and for some reason, smoothies cost a whopping $ 11 dollars each. Perhaps… the LA price? Scout’s Honor $ 11– strawberry, pineapple, banana, almond milk, lucuma, vanilla powder. It tasted like a protein shake. kind of dry and gritty, and felt super healthy. It was okay. Mountain chai $ 10– banana, almond milk, chai spice, maca, vanilla powder, nutmeg, agave. This was the best of the three we got, as it had a nice chai taste overall. Nothing impressive though. Blue Moon $ 11– wild blueberries, banana, coconut water, hemp milk, honey. This one was also pretty good– it had more flavor than the Scout’s Honor. Not impressed with this place. The smoothies should have had flakes of gold or caviar with that price. The drinks weren’t even that tasty, but they were very healthy if you’re into that.

I’ve never met a vegan raw food spot that I enjoyed until now. Came here for lunch with my coworkers and enjoyed everything we ordered. Not only was the food delicious, but the space is wide open and very relaxing and welcoming. Things to order: Hummus and Falafel Spicy«Tuna» Roll Caprese Sweet Miso Salad(if you’re in the mood for something sweet) Can’t wait to come back and try the dinner menu. There’s parking in the front lot and also street parking all around.

Eh… This place is alright… I love the ambiance and the service. The food is really good, great for a vegan… but I’ve just had so much better! I came and got the spicy tuna roll and the guacamole and chips. The guac was nothing special, although I really liked the chips. The menu said it was just corn, but it tasted a little«cheesy» so they must use nutritional yeast seasoning or something. I could’ve gotten down on those chips all day!!! Then came the spicy tuna roll. I really like how«light» it was with no rice and extra greens. Personally, I don’t think it tasted like tuna at all but it wasn’t bad. Sooo… Ambiance, service and uniqueness… Awesome. Food… Alright. Prices… :(:(:( I would suggest to go up the street to Zinc, Urth Café or over the Urban Radish or Café Gratitude for a delicious meal at a cheaper price with a comparable ambiance.

Vegans in Downtown LA, this is your place! Step right up! For straight up organic, raw and vegan food that’s mostly delicious, in a super cute, modern chic restaurant, head on in to The Springs on Mateo! I’m far from vegan, but trying to eat healthier lately so decided to give this place a try. Two out of the 3 dishes we ordered were extremely delicious, hence a solid 4 stars! =FOOD= 1) Tea Leaf Salad — Green Tea leaves, kale, romaine, chili-lime vinaigrette, pumpkin seeds, sesame, cashews, cherry tomatoes cilantro, sprouts and avocado. Doesn’t that sound amazing?! Well, it tastes just as good(if not better) than it sounds! The flavors were so strong! A large size is great to share among 2 people. Make sure that you squeeze the lime and mix it WELL! This is definitely recommended to order here, even though, to be honest… ALL of their salads sound amazing! 2) Green Curry — This was really weird. Zucchini noodles, avocado, Thai chili, scallion, red bell pepper, curried cashews, Thai basil, cilantro, and lime. Okay… they really made their zucchinis look like noodles here… which was why I was so weirded out from first bite to the last. The cold sauce really tasted like curry, and even had a little kick from the Thai chili, but I didn’t like the texture of the«noodles» even though I’m a huge fan of zucchini. I mean, if you like this kind of stuff, go for it, but if you’re not used to this(like me), I’d try something else. 3) Gianduja Tart — This was so good! After having the green curry, I was a little nervous about the dessert. Was it going to be just as odd? NOPE! It was actually super delicious! Coconut shortbread, gianduja ganache, candied hazelnuts, flaked 24-karat edible gold(I don’t recall this part), vegan coffee ice-cream. I thought they did an absolutely amazing job… so much so that I felt like I was eating sweet cake and ice-cream from a non-vegan restaurant! I’d DEFINITELY order this again! =AMBIENCE&SERVICE= This place is neato! It’s got a yoga area where, I assume, they hold Yoga classes! There’s also a little shopping area off to one side. The place is very clean, spacious, and makes you feel good about your health the moment you walk in. Not sure if there’s wifi, but I definitely saw a woman doing work on her laptop while sitting at the bar area. On different nights, there are events that the venue holds(yep, it’s that spacious), and you can also get a membership here for unlimited yoga, infrared sauna treatment, and 10% off some services, foods and juices. =FINALVERDICT= While I’m not a vegan, nor plan to be one anytime soon, this is a great place to explore a vegan menu and try some good vegan food. It’s a very cute location and a nice place to check out even if you’re not looking for a bite. I know I’ll be visiting this place again because of how close it is to my gym, and also because I do want to eat healthy every now and then!

New raw vegan cuisine restaurant in Art District, yay! First of all, the ambiance is amazing. I love the open space & natural light, also the pop of colors they use on the walls & furniture really make this place special. Parking is located in the front or back(free too!). The Springs not only offers Yoga, but it’s a juice bar, vegan restaurant & a bar :) Came here for lunch & here’s what I got: Spicy«tuna» roll: nori, spicy«tuna» pâté, cucumber, greens, avocado, chipotle mayo(this was really good, I was surprise how good the«tuna» was) Hummus and Falafel: almond-zucchini hummus, harissa, tahini, zatar flatbread.(hummus was really good but I was not a big fan of the falafel) Overall, I definitely want to come back for a drink & to try that nacho salad. As I’m desperately trying this vegan thing(Day 3, everyone!!!) I thought I could use some help from professional. We were already in the Arts District on a tour, and my generous & gracious Unilocal App brought us to ThA Springs. What a beautiful space! At around 4 pm, just the time when the sun was setting, the whole building was basking in the rays of the sun. They have plenty of seating, and cleverly arranged too. No one was there to greet us, and we scouted out for menus on our own. Still not finding what we were looking for(aka raw juices and smoothies) we just resignedly set ourselves at one of the tables. Once we did, a pleasant lady was there to take our order. Now then, the first raw juice my partner wanted, they were out of. Neither did they have his second choice; plans C didn’t work either, so finally we just asked them to point what they had left. All this to say is that they were out of a lot of things :) He ended up getting a Firebird, and was pretty happy with it: the juice was fresh, flavorful and with a kick to it. I ordered the Bluemoon smoothie, and they did have it, so we didn’t have to play the alphabet game. Both drinks were of exceptional quality, and we paid for them so. $ 20.00 before tax. Ouch. But yum! We had the time to browse, so we saw they also have a yoga studio, a little artsy store, a wellness center, ans some kind of work space(or something that could be used as a work space in the back). The place is absolutely delightful. Nothing they offer is cheap. But it was an esthetic and gastronomic pleasure all the way around. We will be back next time and would expect a friendly hello at the door and a full juice bar :)

Firstly, I want to say that this review is solely for their ice cream. My friend and I were on a joint taco/ice cream adventure in LA(weird combination, I know), and this was stop #1 for our ice cream run. I found this place on some ice cream list online, and it sounded interesting so we decided to give it a shot. We were given three(tiny) scoops of ice cream for a steep price of $ 12, and the flavors we tried were smoked avocado/cilantro, black sesame, and apple pie(I wanted maple, but they were out). Let me first start by saying that I definitely should not have expected traditional ice cream from a place like this(and by that I mean vegan/raw/etc). So, my bad. But maybe give us more of a warning about how far from ice cream this«ice cream» really is. First off, the texture — oddly chalky and breaks apart when I try to take a scoop. Secondly, the flavors — really unique in theory, but the actual tasting didn’t do anything for me. I thought execution was rather bland. Don’t regret the visit because it was quite the… «unique» experience and I have to admit I’ve never had anything like this«Ice cream». But I would not return, especially because the prices are so steep. I will say the interior and atmosphere is very fun and cool, and the staff were very polite.
