The Spirit of Los Angeles, located near the center of The Grove shopping center, is a bronze statue by renowned sculptor De L’Esprie that depicts a male and female angel. The angels, with 10-​foot wingspans, are perched atop a 22-​foot-​high limestone column.
The Spirit of Los Angeles, «a 14-​month endeavor from models to final installation» (
), has graced Los Angeles with its presence since The Grove’s elaborate and highly publicized grand opening in 2001.
According to The Grove’s website (
), The Spirit of Los Angeles «[…] is a signature piece for the City and an enduring symbol of the limitless opportunities Los Angeles offers.»
I found The Spirit of Los Angles beautiful and really regret that I didn’t take more photos of the angels during my recent time in town. Be sure to check out this heavenly sculpture during a trip to The Grove.
