This is my Cheers! I love the ambiance, the staff and the food. I come here a minimum of once a week, mainly breakfast and lunch. It’s a great place for meetings. Art and Jesus always give the best personal service! It’s great to have a place were everyone knows your name :-)

I was skeptical after seeing some poor reviews, but they won me over. We dined here after watching a Cirque show last weekend. It was one of the few places I could get a reservation on a Saturday night, so I was wary. The prices were high, but it’s The Standard in Downtown — I mean, what do you expect? The three of us ordered a few plates to share: lamb chops, avocado toast with shrimp, Brussels sprouts, and salmon cakes. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. The service was good and we walked away satisfied. The décor may not suit everyone and the lights were quite dim, but it was mid-century themed and the place was clean and nicely maintained. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the food came out in a reasonable time. If you’re in the area and want to pay the price for a nice Downtown restaurant, I would give it a try.

The best thing was the Bloody Mary! The food was just okay. And it took a long time for our server to talk to us. It was busy at first but it slowed down and it still took over 30 minutes to get our food! They did take off one of our meals for it being too cold to eat and the manager gave us 2 free drink coupons that can be used in the entire hotel. That was nice but probably would not eat at this restaurant again. Oh and they squished 6 of us into a table meant for 4… :/

The only good thing about our meal was the hot chocolate. As we were staying downtown, this was the only option we had flying in around midnight. Figured they would be a couple steps ABOVE Denny’s or IHOP, but I was wrong! The only thing this place has going for it is the ambience and EXCELLENT service. Our waitress was lovely, so I happily tipped for the service. But I went to bed very unsatisfied.

The décor is pretty outdated as it is bland and boring modernish. The patio leaves little to be desired– I am not going to pay that much for a meal to stare at a wall meanwhile there are hundreds of wonderful restaurants with adorable patios or views in DT. Service was spotty. At the end a young waitress finally helped us get our order off the check. She wasn’t our waiter but helped more than he could. The food was bad. Burger way too overdone(asked for medium) and fries were bad too. The cocktails saved the day. After leaving the Hotel Fig, full of character and good drinks, this was hard to stomach. Sorry. Oh and we waited almost an hour for the food on a semi-busy evening.

When I walked up to be seated and was greeted with«what’s up» by the hostess, I wasn’t too keen on that. I really wanted to reply with«what’s good, can I eat here or nah?» Anyway, I ordered cream of asparagus(soup of the day), the margarita pizza, New York steak, and the steak and eggs. All of it was TERRIBLE. Have you ever dined at chuck e cheese? If so keep eating there because their pizza is better and costs less. The soup was just okay, nothing outstanding. I ordered my steak medium rare. The outside was burnt, I could taste chard in my mouth, even our server noticed it wasn’t cooked correctly. He offered to have a new steak brought out but I was so annoyed with all the previous bad tasting food I didn’t even want them to bother. Now, to the steak and eggs, I’ll keep it sort and simple. Steak: burnt, Scrambled Eggs: watery/not fully cooked, Toast: stale. Really unhappy with all the food and not to mention our bill came out to about $ 70 that’s quite a bit to pay for poorly cooked food. Our server was great but I was disappointed that he didn’t offer a discount or some compensation after I expressed to him how let down we were. Might come back to the standard for a good time with some cocktails but never again for their food.

arrived here at 7pm on a saturday night and parked near valet for $ 15 :((apparently there is $ 10 parking on the opposite side but it was such a long line and we didn’t know what it was for). part of me wishes there was validation if you’re eating in the restaurant, but its LA what can you do? walk in with extremely friendly and helpful staff. it was pretty much empty(which is a scary sign) but they were accommodating by putting my cake that i had bought for my friend in the refrigerator. my main complaint is that it is SODARK wow like it started to give me a headache. i understand the intimate setting but it was so dark I felt it was as if I’m shopping in one of those hollister stores where i can’t see what I’m buying. now the food: complimentary bread: ASKFORTHIS. i don’t think they just give it out(not sure) but we were waiting awhile because our order was huge so we got the MOSTDELICIOUSBREADIVEEVERHAD wow i need to find out what kind of bread that was because it was as if i was having a tasty pretzel but bread form. burger w/fries($ 15): thank goodness, after reading the plenty of reviews here i was scared about the food but they did not mess up the burger! patty was juicy and very tasty. so no complaints on the burger but the fries were lacking flavor and were not crispy, more on the soggy side. OVERALL positives: –friendly tentative staff –very helpful in all the requests we made –up to 7 cards for splitting on the check –open 24 hours negatives: –too dark –probably won’t return due to the expensive parking –food was okay but over priced –they have a fee for cutting a slice of cake(we did not do it because of that) for 9 people it would be $ 30 which baffled me… are you guys morons steakhouse or something? –there was an issue where when we were leaving the server(who was GREAT) asked us if she did anything wrong as to why we left such a small tip… this baffled our group because we each left 15−20% tip and my friend she asked for gave her an extra $ 20 on top because we were in a rush. now we talked about it later at first we were upset about it but we realized it must of been a misunderstanding because she did not realize that majority of our tip was not left in cash but on the receipts of those who paid with card. so unfortunately that tainted our trip but please don’t get me wrong this waitress was GREAT minus the misunderstanding and i want her to know that we thought her service was amazing!

Came here around 7pm today for a friend’s birthday dinner and had a very unprofessional experience with our server, so this review will be based on that. Service was great at first, but as we left the server flagged us down and asked us for more tip at the end. Seriously? Our group of ~9 people all paid one bill with a mix of cards/cash, but the tip we included was definitely at least 15%. She may have miscounted, or maybe didn’t go over all of the receipts but I personally don’t think it’s acceptable in ANY circumstance to chase down a customer to ask for more tip. She was so friendly and knowledgable during our meal but the end kinda just killed it… so very unprofessional. It was also our friend’s birthday, so we brought her a cake but were told that we would be charged $ 30 for cutting the cake inside the restaurant. Meh. Other than that, the food itself was just alright but the ambience is intimate and romantic which I liked. This restaurant itself is not too bad but after the server incident, I will definitely not be coming back.

After not having the best experience with the food at the restaurant and leaving a less than lovely review here on Unilocal, the business manager personally messaged me and called me to get feedback on my experience and completely made up for it. I am a big fan of The Standard and have been for years, and I think their customer service is marvelous. Thank you!

Went twice for breakfast and lunch, lunch was better. Breakfast was normal and service was slow. Got egg tacos and they were very bland, smoothie was good. Blat at lunch was great with truffle fries, loved it Cool yellow décor as well

I had spent the night punishing my liver on the roof top of the Standard the night before. It was feeling a little less than stellar when I woke up. My friends were still fast asleep but I was on Tulsa time and needed to eat something. The restaurant was about half full and totally locked into the cool retro theme. I sat at the bar and ordered a coffee and a water. I decided on the eggs Benedict because I love that disk when it’s done well. This place made the list. The potatoes that came with it we so so, but the rest was all good. Had some nice conversation with waitress and paid my check. Quick and easy and convenient in the hotel.

Okay so we came because we wanted to hit the rooftop bar, but we were hungry so we decided to eat here. I had their original burger with fries. The food was a little pricey, for the quality of food we received. My food wasn’t as warm as i would have liked, it also didn’t taste that great. What makes this restaurant decent, is the beautiful outside seating. However, I would not come back, they don’t have a big menu, and the food was only okay. Not impressed. Sorry.Not.Sorry.

This was one of many stops in our downtown LA adventure. The décor in this place is pretty interesting. It’s mostly yellow, and adds an interesting mix of contemporary and 60’s style. The staff is pretty cool, they were quick to take our order and were pleasant. We didn’t actually eat here, we just got drinks and moves to the lobby. I ordered a whiskey sour, and it was well made. There is plenty of seating both inside the restaurant, and outside close to the main entrance of the building. I will be back here to try out their entrees. Stay tuned.

Steak and eggs were great but the eggs were well done even when I asked for it to be a bit runny. The steak was perfectly cooked. My cousins and bf got burgers and they were good as well. They were a little dry. Overall it was a good brunch. The Bloody Mary is so cool came with bacon ! Came with a party of 5 and not all our food came out at the same time. The server was slower than a snail took forever to have him do anything.

The décor is beautiful and weird. Service is good or great. Super valuable tip: The late night menu(after midnight) is the BEST. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner items, and the prices are lower. The evening menu is overpriced, and the portions can run small. Other tip: Ask for the pretzel bread. Warm, firm, and yet soft and chewy. Love. I miss the loose leaf tea. It’s all prepackaged bag style now.

Came here during lunch with my coworkers and I was far from impressed. Pros: –Pretty good food. It’s nothing special, but it didn’t suck. We got the truffle fries and calamari as appetizers(5⁄5), and then I got the Steak Frites for my main entrée(4⁄5). The fact that this restaurant is located within a hotel probably explains why the price you pay doesn’t seem to match the quality of the food. Everything’s a bit on the pricey side. Cons: –After being seated, we waited 15 – 20 minutes before a server came by to ask if we wanted to order anything. –It smells. Really bad. You know when you leave your clothes in the washer for too long, it has that distinct, sour smell? Yeah, that’s basically how this place smelled like. it probably comes from them using the same wet, smelly rag to wipe down tables. For a better ambiance, go to their rooftop bar.

I came here on the last day of Dine LA(LA’s Restaurant Week) for their 3 course lunch. For $ 20 I thought that it was a good deal, but a little small on the portion sizes. For a starter, I had the ham and cheese croquettes… which were delicious. It came with some very good mustard, that added a lot of flavor to each bite. I had the chicken entrée next which was also very good, but was just 1 small chicken breast. It was a light lunch which ended with a pear upside down cake which was delicious!!! For the price, I thought this sampler of food for lunch was great. What was really good were their many different flavors of mimosas($ 11). My friend got the watermelon mimosa which was really good and I tried the lavender mimosa. I never tasted anything like this drink before, it had a unique flavor which I would definitely come back for!

In a nutshell, I felt this particular restaurant is a bit overhyped. I took my brother here for a birthday meal per his request; we ordered of the DineLA menu to get a good sampling of what they offer. My brother ordered the Roasted Pacific Shrimp, Chuli Glazed Jidori Chicken and Pear Upside Down Cake. I ordered the Smokey Butternut Squash soup, Pan Roasted Barramundi and Coconut Milk Panna Cotta. Brother was satisfied with his meal but wasn’t raving about it. I was definitely underwhelmed with all of my meal, the portions were fair but the plates were bland. I don’t know that I’d ever choose this spot for a meal again but I’ve heard rave reviews about their rooftop bar so perhaps might stop by and check that out at some point.

The Restaurant is open 24/7, and for the limited number of around-the-clock classy joints in downtown, this place is a win on so many levels. Atmosphere While this place reminds me of Cafeteria in New York City, the décor complements an Avant grade look. Combining a 1960’s charm with what could be mistaken to be an upscale Lemonade, The Restaurant serves a slightly better than average menu for a great price. The service isn’t spotty in morning hours, as staff hover near the kitchen and observe tables that may need servicing. You’ll find all kinds of patrons dining here, minus the hipsters. Thank goodness, right? This isn’t an establishment full of suits or metros either. Across my table, I noted a young woman doing work on her laptop in pajamas. Across I noted a few breakfast meetings in suits, and a hung over patron barely making the scoop from his plate to his mouth. It’s a great way to enjoy your morning. I was seated immediately in this relatively small restaurant. It was about 1⁄3 packed, and the outside was closed due to rain the night the night before. Booth seats are more comfy than the outer table seats, so be mindful of your patrons. Food The Tree Hugger Hash: This dish is moderate in size and does not come with anything other than a bowl of two poached eggs, greens, a small chopped vegetable medley, and potato cuts. For what it is, the eggs add some creamy texture to what the potatoes already provide. If you love eggs benedict or a veggie omelet, then you’ll love this dish. Combined with the odd-fitting greens, you’ll note it’s a relatively quick meal. You may want to add another item if you’re hungry. For those having a conversation or need some noshing, this is a healthy option that isn’t traditional. If you like to live a little, try it out or opt for an omelet. Picture: Overall Don’t expect to be surprised by the lackluster taste behind your dishes. It’s not a place where they attempt to surprise you with culinary flavorings. Rather, The Restaurant place will appeal to those who want something visually modern, great service, decent coffee, and a meal that is simply delightful. Sometimes simplicity is all that you need to have a great place, and that’s why I like this place.
