One word… delicious! They serve traditional Korean food that tastes like it is home cooked. I love me some dakdoritang and they sure know how to make it right!

A little hole in the wall spot that serves the best Dak dori tang(spicy chicken stew) and Dak kal gook su(chicken noodle soup) with hand made noodles. This place does not serve alcohol but you can bring your own bottle with no cork fee. Very authentic and one of my favorite places to go eat.

Wow. I love how they didnt even cook for us when we order dakdoritang. They just gave us in a pot and that was it. Not rice or anything in the end. The chicken had lots of feather on it still. And the texture was not chewy at all. Also compare to other reviews they only gave us 2 types of kimchis and 1 kongnamool. Other reviews had much more than that. My mom asked the waitress if the food was already cooked long ago and just brought out and the waitress actually nodded and said yes. Lol. Disgusting. Taste bad. Not coming ever again.

Let me tell you how awesome this place is: It was SO good, it brought me out of my 1.5+ years of not writing Unilocal!reviews.(I apologize in advance if I over hype this place for those of you who have expectations that are not manageable.) So this tiny hole in the wall restaurant is located on 3rd street but that little 3 block area where there isn’t too much going on. This stretch of ktown is pretty dim and there’s not much activity around here. It’s pretty hard to find and I bet most of you readers have passed by this place without even noticing this restaurant. The sign does not light up at night and the restaurant is pretty small(fits maybe 25 max?). But being in Koreatown, this place has 3 of the following things that are almost impossible to find: 1) GREAT service — Need i say more? The word«Korean» is synonymous to «Bad Service» but not here. The service here is excellent. 2) Bilingual server — Most ktown restaurants look at you as if you’re crazy if you can’t speak Korean but not here. Our server was fluent in both Korean & English. 3) AWESOME chicken that is NOT fried — Ktown has great fried chicken but the Dahk Doh Lee Tang here is amazing. It is THEBEST dahk doh lee tang I have ever had. EVER. Kimchi was good and the cucumber kimchi was even better. The bean sprouts side dish and radish kimchi was good but not great. The potatoes, onions, carrots, seasoning, flavor, and the chicken was AMAZING. Like I said, if your expectations are unrealistic, that’s your fault not mine. Otherwise, please dont forgot to comeback and like this post. =D

This is an authentic Korean chicken house. They do not speak much English, but luckily our waiter did. The service was good. The food was amazing and very inexpensive. It was a little hard to find but we found it! Very clean place. We will be back again!

Best Spicy Korean chicken stew in town. The kimchee cucumber side is so good, and service was quick. Our server spoke english and was super sweet, we’ll be back for sure!

The big bowl of soup is $ 40, which is quite expensive, considering it was just soup and side dishes… They didn’t stir fry the rice with the leftover soup, which made me quite disappointed.

The best kept secret in Koreatown! It’s often said those unseen, hole-in-the-wall places are the best. It’s true about this place! The meal Esther brings out is fantastic! I’ll usually go in the afternoon if I have enough time during my lunch break. Give this place a try, you’ll love it!

I have no idea how I found this place or why I saved it to my bookmark. But saved it I did so went I must and I’m glad I did. This place is the epitome of hole in the wall. When you step in there’s no denying that this is a mom and pop shop of the smallest variety. Old furniture from the 80’s, peeled wallpaper and bars; you’re not coming here to see and be seen unless it’s by middle aged Korean men. The place basically serves a very small amount of items and I can’t begin to tell you what they’re called since everything is in Korean, but I ordered the spicy chicken dish and man it was good! It’s super comforting, the chicken is insanely tender and the whole thing just tastes like a home cooked meal. The staff isn’t attentive by any means, the cook is the mom and the son is the waiter and they’ll get to you when they get to you, but, they’re incredibly kind and I couldn’t help but be smitten by the charm of the whole family run small business. Best of all it’s BYOB with a liquor store across the street and a big hearty portion of chicken for 2 people only cost 25.00. Give this place a try and be sucked into the charm of the real deal chicken house.

pretty big portions and very cheap prices. I tried to over order and the lady stopped me and told me to wait for the food to come out and then decide if I want a seafood pancake then. got the single serving ddak dori tang and a kalgooksu and it was more than enough for two people.

It was tasty and the lady there is super nice. I was missing a dollar and she didn’t seem to care but i was able to find some change to give her exact change. I’m definitely going back so I can tip her more. I’m going to say i liked it because I bought this for my lunch since I was feeling a bit sick. I got the dak kalgooksoo. I could tell the taste and even the texture of chicken was pretty superb. the only drawback is i totally forgot these are the type of noodles to get soggy. And i didn’t eat it until a few hours later Its not her fault at all but i think i would have enjoyed the dish more if the noodles were still in tact. So food is good i am dying to try the dalkdoritang… I just couldn’t bring myself to get it for lunch since I work with a bunch of non-koreans note: she has a card charge min.

I don’t know what to say about this place except that I looked it up on Unilocal, great reviews and so we drove out of our way to find and dine here… parked, paid the meter. Went in, sat down. A dimly lit, hole in the wall joint with 2 occupied tables and 3 tables that have not been bussed yet. Dirty dishes stacked and packed this small joint. 5 mins later a lady(assuming it’s the owner) came out and told us that she could not serve us cuz she’s too backed up with orders and ran out of chicken/food?! A little confused(first time ever this has happened to us) we thanked her and left. I can only assume that the reviews are on point. I’m leaving 5 stars because this place is «ran out of food, good!» Enjoy?

I’m pretty sure this place serves the best dak dori tang in LA. It’s hard to find, the interior is pretty sparse, and I don’t think they speak English, but gotdamn that food is bomb. Dak dori tang is a spicy and sweet stew that uses a whole chicken and throws in veggies like carrots, onions, and peppers for a satisfying crunch. The chicken is cooked true korean style: skin on, bone in, for a satisfyingly hands on experience. At the end of the meal, they will stirfry the leftover soup with rice, seaweed, and sesame oil. That’s actually my favorite part since the bottom of the rice gets super crispy! My friend and I came here, stuffed ourselves, and took leftovers home and the total came out to $ 20! I couldn’t believe it. Sure, there’s only street parking, but it isn’t hard to find. The korean ladies who work there are really nice and attentive. Don’t skip this restuarant because it’s not aesthetically impressive! Your stomach will thank you.

Chicken was delicious and it is a hole in a wall that is Korean own. No menu that i can fine and the only menu is Korean on the wall which I can’t read. Just order from the picture that other Unilocaler took. Even though it was a little awkward to walk in and not know what I ordered, I would not regret it. I order the Spicy ½ Chicken for $ 14. It was enough to feed 2 people and the sauce they used to stew the chicken was delicious. A little spicy, but had so much flavor. It also came with purple and bean rice, best that I can describe. She even offer me more once I finish my bowl but I just couldn’t eat more. While I did not know Korean and felt awkward, the lady that seem to own the place was nice. There was 1 other family there dining and they seem to know the worker/owner there as they were eating with them and all were drinking beer together. I didn’t mind that and it seem to help with me being a non-korean there to see that. Really should try as I did not regret it at all as I love trying new places and this is one that I will be back to just to get more of that Spicy Chicken. Will give it 4 stars as there is no English Menu but if there was, would be worth the 5 stars.

Love this place. Feels like I’m eating at home … If I knew how to cook. We got the half chicken soup for two people. The soup was super refreshing! Perfect for hangovers. I wish it was a little easier to eat and they took in the meat off the bones for us but that’s my lazy ass talking. After your meal they mix in rice, seaweed, and sesame oil into a fried rice dish for you and you et it straight out of the pot. Delicious.

Place is run-down and easy to miss and it’s only street parking. While these are factors that typically deter people from coming back, I think it actually adds charm to this place. The entire menu is posted on the wall and is Korean only. I came here for the ddakdoritang so that’s what I ordered, but then found out there are two types: market bought chicken(cheaper) and live chicken bought from farm(more expensive). Naturally I went with the cheaper then to my dismay she tells me they’re out of the market chicken. First you confuse me with an option then retract the option. At this point I’m irked and annoyed. Luckily the food came and the first sip had my annoyance out the window. In the tang there are many pieces of chicken, onion, green onion, jalapeños, carrots, and potato. The potato not only tastes great but acts as the thickening agent which gets the stew nice and thick. When you’re ready out comes the rice and I think thats everyone’s favorite. I’m glad Unilocal brought me to this place because the ddakdoritang is on point! And I’m sad to have read ‘byob’ after my meal.

Little hole in the wall with not the nicest décor but some bomb dakdoritang & kalgooksoo(knife noodles). There’s enough chicken in the dakdoritang for a party of 3 and they make fried rice for you in the same stew that’s been boiling while you’ve been devouring your face with the chicken & veggies. The kalgooksoo… I must say is one of my fav. the noodles are SUPER chewy which I LOVE and the broth is hearty and flavorful. The two elder women working there are really sweet but not as attentive but no biggie. they probably have a lot to deal with back in the kitchen as well. Knock off one star for no parking!
