A hidden gem I just discovered from reading the about free comedy and free beer. Moving Arts is a small unassuming theater space seating about 30 or less. Olde Money Boyz host a free(but donations accepted) improv night on Wednesdays from 9 –10pm. The guys were very funny and the bucket of canned beers is always a nice accompaniment. I’ll have to check out their calendar for future shows.

Moving Arts is a tour the force theater. It may be small but boy oh buy is it gigantic when it comes to putting up different kinds of shows. Their Car Plays are legendary! Annual One Act Play Festival is always a pleasure. ASAP Fables that they put up during Fringe Festival is incredibly inventive and fun to watch. Latest project Wonderland was a blast as well! All in all a great theater company with amazing company members!

This might be the place for a social experiment to see if your significant other can hang and have fun with you and not be concerned about the lack of steak and lobster. But this is even better. $ 5 with the limit of 30 people. The benefit is that if there is a bad comic, it will only be a 15 minute wait for another to come along. Sort of like the bus system in Los Angeles. On the evening I attended, the comics were very good. But I had such a craving for popcorn. Explainable, these are old, bolted to the floor, theatre seating in a 30 seat«room.» I can see the win-win on this. You and I get an evening of no-frills laughs, and these funny people get a studio audience. Not a bad Friday night in Los Angeles. Since it starts at 10 pm, you have time to wine and dine first, and then bring your own dessert or anti-freeze and enjoy a show. I can’t promise you that you’ll get a free soda, I did get one, and there were a few left over at the end of the evening. Pretty good show since they didn’t have to rely on a 2 drink minimum to make the show funny. :tap tap tap: This place is definitely on!
