Overall: The food and service is good, and the little shop is perfect for students who want a quiet place to study. However, it is slightly pricey, especially when cheaper options(i.e. Panini Café) are just down the street. Food: 4 Grilled Salmon Sandwich comes with the bread choices of pita or french bread. I chose the pita wrap which also included a cucumber and tomato yogurt sauce. The pita was decent, and the salmon was cooked well. I liked the veggies and sauce that they included because it kept the sandwich from feeling to dry, and it added a refreshing bite. HOWEVER, I do think it’s a little pricey when Panini Café, which is closer for UCLA students, provides a similar wrap that includes a salad or soup side for like $ 2 more. Theirs is much bigger, comes with more salmon, and even includes avocado. Service: 4 You order and pay at the counter, but the waitress brings your drinks, utensils, and food out to the table you chose. The cashier was really nice and very patient while my friend and I tried to decide what to get. However, she wasn’t very helpful in giving recommendations. When I chose the sandwich, I asked her for her recommendation between the 2 bread types, but all she could say was«they’re both very good.» Ambiance: 4 It’s a cute little shop on the side of busy Westwood. There are plenty of tables, but it doesn’t seem cramped. It’s very quiet, so it might be a good place to stop by for food while studying.

Authentic, delicious, plentiful, homemade fresh TERRIFIC essentially Turkish food. Wonderful find in Westwood pre-Geffen Theater. Would be great for picnic takeout. Some dishes are better than we had in Istanbul. The café-look is misleading — this is REALLY good food. Berna was delightful server — and we will be going back soon to try the pide and oither dishes. This place is a true find — tell your friends.

This is a neighborhood restaurant, where everything is served fresh. The food is delicious and very reasonable. I am partial to the vegetable plate, which has a substantial salad, grape leaves, felafel, and hummus with pita. It is simply the best. Also, Berna, who works behind the counter is charming, gracious, and a good hostess. All in all, I would recommend The Kitchen @ Westwood very highly.

A small restaurant that seems family run. Great food. I had the manti, like ravioli or dumplings in a yoghurt sauce. Also, the chobani salad was crisp and fresh, though so large I had a hard time finishing it. For dessert, the Turkish ice cream was very creamy, and went well with the Turkish coffee. A great place!

I found this place randomly as I was walking on Westwood very very hungry. Wasn’t sure what to choose but decided on the hummus plate. Because hummus. I was served a HUGE plate of hummus! It was very good, but unfortunately there wasn’t enough bread so I ended up wasting over half of the hummus. Bummed! But the bread was tasty as was the hummus. I’d suggest either less hummus or more bread or veggies to dip in it though. The employee was friendly enough and I must have had a look about me, because the first thing he asked me was, «Is this your first time here?» I thought that was a funny thing to say, but it was fine. He suggested a few of their specials before I chose the hummus plate. They have a check in offer and the baklava was so good! Overall, an ok place for a quick lunch.

Wanted to try this place since it got good reviews so ordered delivery. I got the grilled chicken with veggies and hummus. Also ordered the kidney bean salad. The veggies had WAY too much salt which was super disappointing. Who puts salt in veggies anyway? Couldn’t enjoy them. The Kidney bean salad had too much onions and they forgot olives. Chicken and hummus wasn’t anything amazing. Disappointed unfortunately.

What a cute little hole in the wall! I was surprised that I’ve never heard of this place especially since I used to attend UCLA. The restaurant itself is tiny, but the food is amazing! The restaurant is family owned, and they were super friendly and helpful! We ordered the beef doner pizza, the cheese and egg pide, tomato cheddar soup, hummus, grilled chicken, yogurt eggplant dip, grape leaves, and these crispy egg rolls with cheese inside. Everything we had was amazing! We first started out with the appetizers, and I love how the hummus was extra creamy. The yogurt eggplant dip was surprisingly tasty(typically don’t like eggplant), but the egg roll with cheese was my favorite! The outside was crispy and crunchy while the inside had melted cheese. Yum! For the entrees, we shared the pizza, the grilled chicken dish, and the cheese and egg pide. My friend got the tomato cheddar soup to herself which she enjoyed, and I fell in love with the cheese and egg pide. It tastes completely different from a pizza as there was no sauce, but it was heavenly. Definitely a must order! The beef doner pizza was also fantastic, it seems like they really know what they’re doing on this side! We ended up being too full for the last dish, so my friend took it togo. We had a delightful lunch here, and I’m so glad I stopped by to check out this place! Really hoping this business does well, as I want to return and eat here regularly!

Absolutely love this place! Small family owned place with amazing authentic Turkish cuisine! We had the doner pizza, the mantee, the hummus and pita, the chicken kebab plate and the Turkish tea and baklava for dessert. Every single item was delicious! I loved the doner kebab pizza so much! And the chicken kebab was peefectly seasoned and so juicy and tender. The baklava was the best baklava I’ve ever had. Service was friendly and courteous. Definitely coming back soon!

Me and my wife choose this place randomly. We both had a bad day and we’re ready to start nagging about every little unpleasant thing. Even my wife asked me to leave or just have a tea and find somewhere else. Finally we ordered and wait for our foods. In that exact moment, something happens. We found everyone so nice. Waiters, the hostess, chef and even other customers, they are all very nice and friendly. Let me flash forward 90 min later when we’re ordering our second tea after our very delicious foods and have a chat and laugh with the hostess. We will definitely go back to this very friendly and cozy place to taste their very delicious Mediterranean foods again.

I can’t say I understand where all the good reviews are coming from. I came here for dinner with some friends, and all of us were underwhelmed by just how thoroughly mediocre the entire experience was. I ordered the beef doner, and it was pretty tasteless. The sauces they came with(dragon’s breath and garlic) were one-note, and not very enjoyable. The fries were even undercooked. All in all, I get better Mediterranean food at my workplace for free, which isn’t a good thing.

This is a nice spot to have lunch if you’re in the area. I ordered the lunch special today and it was perfect. My food came out hot, fresh, and tasty in a matter of minutes which is great for my quick lunch break. The wrap had great flavor without being overwhelming. The fries were hot, well seasoned and a good portion(not too many). The owner is very warm, and the restaurant is neat, clean, and hassle free. A great place to eat and regroup before finishing out the work day. **They also make a pretty good Turkish coffee as well. ;-) ***One more thing: This Baklava is the BEST Baklava I’ve ever had, and I Love Baklava!!! 055⁄100

Salad was excellent, a bit expensive but had great flavor. Very small simple place, quick in & out. I would eat here again for sure…

Great food! The hummus was delicious! I enjoyed the falafel plate as well as all of the sides. The yoghurt and cucumber dish was amazing. Dude was super helpful and explained what each the dishes were making helpful suggestions. The atmosphere is basic but tidy. Totally worth the visit. Oh! The baklava was freakin DOPE!

Number one recommendation to get here is the Iskender Kebab. Loved the combination between döner, pita bread, and yoghurt. However ordering the döner on its own is less appealing. The option of beef döner only did not live up to my expectations, as I have had way better döner in Turkey and in the UK since it was a mix of lamb and beef in the meat. Hence I think it is safe to say the döner here is inauthentic. For side dishes, the barley dish was great. Hummus again was inauthentic. Chili sauce was so spicy that I couldn’t handle it. You are warned! Overall I’m glad another Turkish place opened in Westwood. It is going to be alternating days between here and Zuma down the road when I crave Turkish food

I’ve been on a workout streak. Okay, 6 out of the last 7 days(or 8 out of the last 10 days, or 10 out of the last 12 months, but who’s counting). So, one can imagine how electrolyte-deficient my body is. LUCKILY, I stopped in for lunch today at The Kitchen and ordered the shrimp arugula salad. Ooooooooooooooo-boy, I sure got my daily allowance of sodium… for the next 30+ days, at least. EVERY piece of shrimp was permeated with salt. Mmmmm, it was like I could taste the ocean – except the ocean was boiled off by extreme climate change and I was licking the sea floor. Well, the arugula was fresh and the dressing was passable(maybe even«good» if you like a sweet vinaigrette). The oldest child also ordered the shrimp fettuccine, which was supposed to have Alfredo sauce but had a milk and cheese concoction that was«like mostly curdled cheese, dude». Service was prompt and friendly(although no one stopped by and asked how things were), and that’s why they rated even the extra star. However, consider this: if someone served you poo with a smile, it’s still poo on a plate at the end of the day. I’m afraid to go back to try the other menu items, which is sad because the other reviews seem pretty complementary(N.B., as of the writing of my review, I noticed most of the«great» reviews are from people who have written very few reviews, so maybe I’m becoming realistic in my old age,). Maybe we just ordered the wrong items. However #2: if you know certain menu items suck, why even have it on your menu?

Yay for more Turkish food in Westwood! This one is located next to the Coffee Bean on Westwood. They have a wider variety of food than Zuma Kitchen down the road. If you choose an entrée you get 2 sides and 1 sauce, i got the Beef/Lamb Doner with rice and hummus with garlic sauce. The food came out within 10 minutes or so and was well proportioned. The hummus was insanely good and they gave lots of it, they gave a lot of doner/gyro, and also provided bread for the hummus. If you check in on Unilocal you get a free baklava which is MAD good. It was so good that I got an extra one after my free one, it was that good! But you can’t have baklava without Turkish Tea, the owner used a special compressing device for it and poured it into our Turkish glass cups. Overall, great food, great prices, and even better customer service.

I was in west LA taking care of some business, and I went over to Westwood Blvd to scope out lunch possibilities. I noticed that this place just recently opened, so I stopped by to try them out. Parking was not hard to find, as it is located next to the Coffee Bean, and street parking was less congested than usual. I walked in, and checked out their menu. They have mainly Mediterranean dishes and a fridge with a variety of drink options. I ordered the chicken doner with white rice, hummus, and dragon’s breath sauce. It took about 10 minutes for my order to come out, in the meantime I sipped on my Perrier. Once I got my food, it was clear that everything was freshly made. The bread was soft, warm, and delicious when dipped in the hummus. The chicken doner was great when treated with a bit of the dragon’s breath sauce. This sauce is VERY spicy, FYI. The white rice was warm, soft, and had vegetables cooked in. Overall, it was a great experience. I’m impressed at the taste of everything, especially how spicy their dragon’s breath sauce is. I will be coming back for lunch the next time I find myself in Westwood.
