This weekend my husband and I are at the Animé Los Angeles convention. I’ve been a bit nervous about food during this weekend, as I am gluten intolerant and get severe reactions when I do eat wheat. After tonight, we plan to eat at this food truck for the rest of the weekend! I was nervous to try it, but decided to ask if I could try the apple sausage without a bun, and depending on their answer, I would probe for a more thorough idea if it would be safe for me to eat. All my concerns were blown out of the water! The moment the gentleman heard the word, «allergy», he immediately gave us his full attention, asking questions and offering answers. He pulled out the package of sausage for me to read the ingredients, he pulled out the special sauce for me to read those ingredients, he made sure it was cooked away from the buns… very special, very considerate treatment. So reassuring! And it was delicious! I got to enjoy the apple sausage, no bun, wrapped in bacon and bbq sauce, topped with grilled onions, fries on the side. It was a treat to my tastebuds and I have suffered absolutely no ill effects. Thrilled and eager for more tomorrow! (and as a note, yes, it is a bit pricey for a sausage, but it’s a food truck. A food truck with excellent food. I’ll take what I can get!)

The bomb dog was delicious. The mustard, cheese and chili mixed well and left me with a satisfied grin. A side of garlic fries really hit the spot as it had an abundance of garlic that made for a good punch. This isn’t really a knock of Greasy Wiener, but I tend to dislike hotdog places because I can never get full off just one hot dog. Heck, I cant even get to the OK phase of hunger with just one! That was basically my experience here as the total bill for two dogs and fries was $ 20! Taste alone is a solid four, but I wouldn’t go here if I was starving(and I was starving when I went here)!

Bratwurst is excellent, casings and filling all taste about right. Toppings are so-so, the thin slices of onion and peppers were undistinguished at best. And the price hurts. Sure, there’s a premium for a noveau food truck, but holy cow, the brat was still expensive…

Enjoyed a «The Bomb» Dog this afternoon. The quality of the dog was spot on, the chili was flavorful without being overpowering and the crisp of the bacon was just perfect! The split bun was soft while still being robust enough to hold in all of the toppings down to the last bite. Absolutely delicious! Also picked up a side of Dragotta fries. Garlic lovers rejoice! To describe the helping of garlic on these babies as «generous» would be an understatement indeed. So good! Your breath will melt the face of anyone you meet for a few days but think of all the time you’ll save now that you won’t have to chit-chat. ;)

Had their Brat at the Eagle Rock music fest this past weekend. I have to say, that was possibly the best tasting Brat I’ve ever eaten.

If I loved this truck any more than I do, my heart would probably explode. I initially came across them when I first moved to LA, and have been wholeheartedly stalking ever since. I’m a small chick, but I can throw back 4 of their veggie hotdogs at a clip(I know, impressive!!) The vegetarian hot dog is called«The Dirty Hippie» and it is delicious. Their dragon fries(garlic + basil) are really tasty as well. If you’re a junk food vegetarian, or even just having a «cheat day» you must pop by this truck. I’d *alllllmost* give ½ a star off because sometimes they can be a bit unreliable(their website isn’t updated sometimes, or they say on the website they’ll be at one event and then aren’t able to make it etc.) but my love of the wien is so strong that I can find this forgivable. The owner, his girlfriend, and employees are all awesome as well, this is tops on my food truck list for sure.

I was pleasantly surprised by the food I got from these guys. Their food didn’t really ‘jump out’ as me as something I had to try, but I was looking for a little variety and bit the bullet, I am glad I did. I had their bacon wrapped chicken sausage. I appreciate places that serve alternative meat sausage, instead of just beef. I also appreciate that they don’t believe just because it’s chicken, that it should have to be healthy. Chicken sausage is great, but it doesn’t mean I’m necessarily trying to eat healthy. Wrap that chicken in bacon please! Food came out quick and HOT. I found the bun to meat ratio great and the bacon well done. I hate flabby, undercooked bacon. The toppings complimented the sausage and I was happy to not need to add anything additional like mustard or ketchup. Looking forward to having more from this truck!

Grabbed an «LA Street» Dog for lunch and boy was it tasty! Mayo, Ketchup, Onions, with a Bacon Wrapped Dog topped with Fresh Tomatoes. A tasty twist on one of America’s favorite meals. Quick tip: if you check in on Unilocal you get a free drink! The perfect lunch when you are on the go.

@thegreasywiener @Roaminghunger_LA Food Trucker App Jersey is reprezentin here in a non-cheesy way! All joking aside this Dog Truck is truly amazing! The really nice people working gave me one of the best dogs I’ve ever had in my life. I experienced this most awesome L.A. Food Truck at the O.C. Fairgrounds which totally made the $ 7 price tag more justifiable since that is just a little putt! Even though their prices are pretty consistent with other Food Trucks it is their larger than normal portions that will make one feel better about checking this one out. Even though there were so many great choices between other trucks and their great sounding menu I finally decided to try their«How you doin?»: which is a most delicioius Bacon Wrapped Chicken Apple Sausage that is topped with tender Grilled Onions and some BBQ Sauce… what transpired was an über-flavorful dog with assertive flavors that produced a nice snap in a fluffy grilled bun! Every ingredient complemented the other as if acquainted for years! GW is one of those trucks you definitely want to seek out and love if you experience! They accept either cash or card!

This was one of the food trucks at the«Meals on Wheels» charity event at the Belmont Heights United Methodist Church in Long Beach. As the name implies, the theme of this food truck is hot dogs. But The Greasy Wiener takes it to the next level, they take one of the most unhealthy food items on the planet and deep fry it! That is right all you health nuts out there, this food truck is run by your Antichrist! Rohlinism: If you are going to be unhealthy, go all the way! The food truck’s fare consists of: Greasy Wiener (Mustard, Grilled Onions and a Dill Pickle Spear with the Choice of One Topping Between Bacon Wrapping, Truck Made Cheese, Truck Made Chili or Sauerkraut) The Bomb (Mustard, Grilled Onions, Dill Pickle Spear, Bacon Wrapping, Truck Made Cheese and Truck Made Chili) Berkowitz (Mustard, Grilled Onions, Dill Pickle Spear, Bacon Wrapping, Truck Made Cheese, Truck Made Chili and Sauerkraut) LA Street Dog (Bacon Wrap, Mayonnaise, Ketchup, Grilled Onions and Fresh Tomatoes) Greasy Hippie (Veggie Dog, Mustard, Grilled Onions, Dill Pickle Spear with the Choice of One Topping Between Truck Made Cheese and Sauerkraut) Chicken Apple Sausage (Mustard, Onions and a Dill Pickle Spear) Chicken Cajun Sausage (Mustard, Onions and Fresh Tomatoes) Chicken Cilantro Sausage (Jalepeno Cooked Inside this Sausage, Mayonnaise, Mustard, Onions and Fresh Tomatoes) Linguisa(Portuguese) (Eggs, Onions, American Cheese and Fresh Tomatoes) Iggy’s (2 Angus Mini Beef Burgers on King’s Hawaiian Rolls with American Cheese, Onions, Pickles and Special Sauce) Fries Regular Chili and Cheese Bacon and Cheese Nacho (Cheese and Serrano Peppers) Bomb Fries (Cheese, Chili and Bacon) Dragotta’s (Fresh Garlic and Parsley) My wife made the selections from this truck and had better luck than I had from the Buttermilk truck. She decided on The Bomb and Bomb Fries. The Bomb hot dog has the skin still on(the only way you could deep fry it) which provides a nice crunch. There was a generous amount of topping, but you could still get the flavor of the dog. Christine’s daughter wanted the pickle, so I didn’t get to try that, but the Chili and Grilled Onions were really good. The Truck Made Cheese was a melted cheese and it was only okay, I would have preferred a Shredded Cheese on top. The Mustard was a standard Yellow Mustard. I would definitely get this hot dog again. The Bomb Fries were an okay fare. There was a decent amount of the Truck Made Cheese, Chili and Bacon, but I did find myself looking for toppings at the bottom of the fries. The fries themselves sort of a lesser steak fry in thickness and The Greasy Wiener provides a decent amount. I would definitely recommend this food truck to anyone who is a fan of deep fried goodness and wants to defy the healthy food trend. Take a couple of days off your life and enjoy a Greasy Wiener … you are all going to die someday!

So many things to try! This was one of five trucks at the Meals on Wheels, Long Beach Gourmet Food Truck night fund raiser in March. After checking out all the trucks, I decided get a couple of dogs from Greasy Weiner. I ordered the LA Street Dog:(bacon wrap, mayo, mustard, ketchup, grilled onion, fresh tomato. $ 6) and The Bomb:(Bacon wrap, mustard, grilled onions, chili, cheese, dill pickle spear. $ 7) Pops ate the Street Dog, I had The Bomb. Man I have to tell you The Bomb WAS The Bomb! GREAT combo of flavors and the dog casing went«SNAP» every time I took a bite… it was pure awesomeness in a bun! And THANKYOU Greasy Wiener for donating a portion of your proceeds from the day to Meals on Wheels, that’s awesome!

Had the namesake hotdog! It was very good(not greasy actually). The staff is very friendly, the hot dog comes out fast, and the dog itself is very big. If the truck is ever by USC I would definitely stop by to try the curly fries boxes! Good sense of humor, good hotdogs, I’m a fan!

I came here for the Street Food Cinema event on August 18th. There were about 15 food trucks to choose from. I do enjoy food trucks, for the sole reason that they always have unique menu options. I went down the line of food trucks and this truck, the lobster truck, and the Rounds burger truck all caught my eye. I decided to go with The Greasy Wiener because it was the cheapest and I hadn’t had a wiener in a while. The service was efficient, and the order-taker-cashier was smiley and bubbly, both make for a delightful ordering experience. I ordered the burkowitz wiener that had sauerkraut, chili, cheese, mustard, and a dill pickle on top. I also ordered some plain curly fries as a chaser. I received my order in a timely manner, much quicker than my friends who were ordering from two of the other trucks. So while waiting for my friends, I decided to eat my dinner. The toppings were yummy, everything was moist, but not too wet where everything falls apart in your hands. The sauerkraut was«sehr gut» and the chili and cheese went well with the dog. However, the wiener, now that was something else. It was fried and it was a little too tough and chewy for my liking, it reminded me of rubber and that’s not a good thing. The curly fries were curly fries, so no boost and no minus points for the side. I enjoyed the wonderful server and service, but the food, which should be the highlight of a meal experience, did not sit well on my taste buds. I believe there are other food trucks in existence out there that can provide you with better tasting, more unique food options.

I got to try @thegreasywiener for the first time today! Now, I have a confession to make… I have never, NEVER, ever tried anything bacon wrapped anything in my whole entire life. When I went to this food truck fundraiser at a local school, there were a lot of great trucks there(six trucks total). I went to my trusted Unilocal iphone app to find out what my fellow Unilocalers were recommending and found that The Greasy Wiener was one of the highly rated trucks. I think I was sold when I started reading about bacon wrapped hot dogs. This was my chance to try out this beloved food by many. I quickly looked through The Greasy Wiener’s menu and saw what was called«The Bomb.» «The Bomb» is basically a bacon wrapped dog with chili and cheese. It is $ 6. I also ended up getting a free box of curly fries for free(normally it is $ 5) for checking in on Unilocal.Yay! «The Bomb» lives up to it’s name. It’s a pretty good hot dog and the bacon definitely adds a nice little flavor to the wiener. The chili and cheese made one nice, messy wiener and added even more flavor . The box of curlys was a good match. What is there not to like about curly fries? They give a pretty decent amount of fries and so I was quite full after just eating half of «The Bomb» and half of my fries. I’m glad to have been able to try another food truck and yay now I can say that I have tried bacon wrapped food(hehe)! Thanks much The Greasy Wiener!

I’ve always complained about food trucks not being close enough to my neighborhood. I guess I can STFU now that the Greasy Wiener was literally parked across the street from my apartment today. I had already eaten a small breakfast bagel before finding out that they were literally right there and 5 minutes from opening, so I decided to forego the fries and just get a wiener. I had«The Greasy Wiener» which was $ 5 and came with grilled onions, mustard, and a pickle spear. There was one(free) add on of chili, cheese, or bacon and I chose the bacon. Other wieners were in the same price range and meals were about $ 10/$ 11. This particular wiener reminded me a lot of a street dog, except minus the smokey taste of bus exhaust fumes that those particular hot dogs seem to have. The bacon was crunchy, the wiener had a snap to it, the mustard was just the right amount(you can add more, and ketchup, to your stomachs delight!). The onions were juicy and not overly cooked. All in all, I enjoyed the wiener. Prices were average for a food truck and I even enjoyed the pickle spear(and I hate pickles; this plus my extra weight gain at the moment is kind of a troubling factor for myself). I’d def. visit again.

These are not your ordinary backyard hometown wieners. They’re from a truck and they’re f’in amazing. And they won the first ever OC Fair chowdown because I was the judge and I said so. And you want to know what else? They freakin’ beat out Pinks! Pinks! The old Hollywood legend. This itty bitty truck from LA is not to be taken lightly. During the OC Fair, we tried their«The Bomb» hotdog which is named by their fans and rightfully so. The Bomb is a bacon wrapped dog with mustard, chili, cheese, grilled onions, and topped with a dill pickle spear. Ours also had some jalapenos. It had quite a kick. I’m not a big fan of onions but I didn’t mind the onions on this hot dog. The flavor combination was delicious. Later that day, I found their truck again and ordered the bacon bleu iggs. These sliders are packed with angus beef on two hawaiian rolls with grilled onions, bacon, bleu cheese and their special sauce. I split these with a friend and wish I had gotten the double order. One slider just wasn’t enough. Paired with a beer they were perfect. And yet later that day, we found ourselves there again with even more friends and split an order of buffalo bleus. These are spicy fries but get really soggy so eat them fast while they still have a crisp or else you’ll get a spicy potato mush. Overall, I loved my foodie adventure at this truck. Will be back for more!

Rarely has the conscious decision to NOT put a big greasy wiener in my mouth led to anything but disappointment. Big, greasy wieners in my mouth usually make me quite happy. and make the wife quite upset. So for the sake of my family… I approached the greasy wiener and resisted temptation… no weiner in my mouth tonight good sir… I’ll have some sliders thank you very much! Wait, those come with bacon right? BACONBLEUIGGSLIDERS($ 6) 2 Angus Beef sliders served on two King’s hawaiian rolls Topped with grilled onions, bleu cheese, bacon and a «special sauce» The flavor packed into these sliders is incredible! Succulent, warm angus beef, tangy bleu cheese, sharp, tasty onions, salty, crispy bacon all held together with a delicious, zesty sauce blend and finally sweet, fluffy buns all encompassing the deliciousness. SO. DAMN. GOOD. Almost made me want to question the desire of having wieners in my mouth ever again… ah! who am I kidding, next time they’re in town, I’m a put 2 greasy wieners in my mouth.

Pretty good stuff here. Had the chance to try them out at the new food truck round up at Best Buy in the City of Industry. Ordered The Bomb hot dog with a side of chili cheese curly fries. The curly fries were really good even on its own but even better with the chili and cheese on top(no skimping here). Also had the chance to try the bacon and cheese curly fries from a friend and it was very good too! Their curly fries are just perfect. Lastly, I can’t forget the The Bomb hot dog because the dog actually had that«snap» and the wrapped bacon was crispy. Every bite was full of flavors, good stuff!

«laughing uncontrollably» «still laughing uncontrollably» «Um…I’ll have a hamburger… just kidding, just kidding» Once again this is the first impressions from my 10 year old daughter who is my sous chef, budding food truck groupie and future Unilocaler of all things edible when asked by myself, twice, what she wanted from the Greasy Wiener truck followed by her reply to when the same question was asked by the amazing woman taking our order at the Valley Food Truck Festival. I know there are a lot of variations on their menu like chili, blue cheese but we both agreed that a simple dog with mustard and onions would be allowed for a fair comparison against other hot dogs. We allowed one addition each — I had mine bacon wrapped and she did the cheese. Hands down, the best hot dog that I have ever eaten. Perfect flavors, simple pickle spear, the right amount of mustard, the onions were grilled just the right amount of time all put on the freshest and softest of buns. The bacon only added to these flavors as did the cheese on my daughters. It was so good we went back for seconds to take home with us and when we approached the window we heard«this is the girl that I was telling you about» to discover that the amazing woman at the window was Iggy’s mom. Iggy came out to talk with her about her love of hot dogs and how he appreciated that we ordered his namesake dog as it’s simple and allows the flavors of the meat to stand on it’s own. Next time, I’m adding chili and the sliders to my order but walked away fulfilled and wanting more! And yes, she is still laughing at the name…
