If you are in the neighborhood and want a quick slice(or two), this is the spot. The pizza is consistent, fresh and they are super friendly. I find myself grabbing a slice on the go since I live around the corner and it makes me feel like I’m on the east coast since there is not too many slice offering pizza joints in LA. Stick to the slices and you will not be disappointed.

***Neighborhood Gem Alert!!!*** I’ve been coming to The Coop since my high school days, in the mid 90s. We’d always go over there and get a slice or two for lunch. Funny thing is, after 20 years of patronage, I’d never ordered a whole pizza. On Friday, the wait ended. I was craving cheese pizza and knew, without a second thought, that I was going to get a small cheese pizza from The Coop. They quoted me 45 minutes for a small cheese pizza. This both enraged me, as I was expecting more rapid gratification, but also made me happy to know that they were up to their ears in orders. I won’t have to worry about them closing any time soon. Phew! The woman who works there calls everyone«hon,» and I LOVE stuff like that. The way she treats customers is much like the way small town folks treat one another in middle America… With a degree of respect that says, «We’re all in this together.» She is great and always genuinely thanks her guests. Love it. It should be known that this place has no seating, only a small counter that can fit three folks or so. Classic shakers with red pepper flake, Italian seasoning, and grated Parm… I added a touch of each to my pizza. The cost of a small pizza was somewhere around $ 9.25. Decent price. Nothing special. I got home and immediately had a piece. It was good. The pizza had obviously been ready for a few minutes prior to me arriving to pick it up, and it had cooled ever so slightly. Cheese was not as melty as I was hoping. The tomato sauce was lacking slightly, but the flavor was nice. Sweet and tangy. The crust was nice and thin, but lacked the crunch I’m used to enjoying at The Coop. I fired my oven to 500 °F and put an upside down cookie sheet on the top rack to heat up. When I re-heated the pizza, the crust came back to life and the flavors were elevated. Ah, perfection. Look, this spot is a neighborhood joint that slangs pizza that is way better than all the commercial chains, like Pizza Hut and Dominos. I prefer it to Julie’s, but I also have a long history with The Coop. And now that I’ve had a whole pie, I look forward to a long future with them, as well. Good pizza, good service, and Palms is super lucky to have The Coop in the neighborhood. ((And yes, I will return with my camera, but honestly, the biz photos here pretty much sum it up))

I absolutely LOVE this place! The food isn’t the only thing I love about this place, it’s the customer service that brings me back time after time. A place where you’ll always feel welcomed and loved. The sweet words of «sweetheart and honey» feel like home. You can’t go wrong with anything at this place. If you’re a big Italian fan, you won’t be disappointed. If you’re ever in the area, a MUST!

Time for an update. And the verdict? Still the best in the west! Haven’t been to this place in a while but last night, we ordered pizza again and, this time, for delivery. It arrived as estimated(45 minutes) and delivered by a nice gentleman. It was delicious still – very. This time, we had basil and garlic as toppings. Price was reasonable. For a large pizza with two toppings, it came to about $ 15 including tax. Highly recommended. Other important info: 1) This is a take-out place and delivery place only.(Except for a small counter outside, or I think inside.) 2) Only cash payments are accepted.

Love this pizza. Location is small. Hard to get when they’re busy but worth it. People who work there are really nice even if they are really busy. Did I say how good the pie was?

The price has increased a little bit. One small mushroom sausage pepperoni is around $ 14. Sausage is really good, especially for meat lover. They baked just a little longer so the pizza tastes harder. Parking is easy and free. People are nice.

The Coop is a little secret gem in The City of Palms, Los Angeles’ 1st& Oldest Neighborhood. It’s been here since around the 30’s and is a Local Favorite. Great for Slices, Pies & Calzones as well as other Italian Favorites. They have the Best Couple working here who are always the Friendliest, Most Hardworking & Sincere People you will ever come across. Ample Parking. Located across the street from«The KFC(Medical Marijuana Dispensary) from South Park.» This is a small carry-out space reminiscent of places Back East with 3 Stand-Up Spaces for a quick bite. Come buy some Lotto Next Door, Pick up Your Rx from across the street and take home a delicious pie that i’m sure that you’ll enjoy!

Was just overcharged. I ordered a large pizza with 3 different toppings on each half of the pizza and was charged $ 20.17. I don’t mind paying $ 20 for good pizza if that’s what you charge. I didn’t question the cashier and just paid because I wanted to double check the prices online. I guess my hunt for a pizza place continues:(

The Coop. I’ve only tried the by-the-slice pizza on the handful of occasions that I’ve gone in, but it ain’t half bad. The crust is what really counts, and it strikes the right balance between crunchy and chewy. The staff is super friendly too, good people. At its heart it’s really just a mom-and-pop kind of pizza shop, If you really need pizza and happen to be in front of this shop, go in and buy a slice.

The fist time we ventured into Coop Pizza they were totally completely slammed. They’re a one oven operation and they’d had someone call and order 6 extra large pies. Probably not a big deal for Dominos but for these guys it’s a little unusual. But we really kind of liked that. They explained that it would be an hour or more for us to get a pizza that evening. That was a little longer than we wanted to wait but we went ahead and ordered the lasagna and an Italian sausage sandwich. Both were excellent! Especially the sandwich which was loaded with sausage and cheese with just the right amount of sauce. So fast forward to tonight and we’re on our way home from DTLA. Called them up and asked them to have our pizza ready at 7:45. Arrived just a little early and remembered that I hadn’t asked them to cook it well done. They took care of that very nicely and in very short order we had our pizza ready to take home. I’m sorry I didn’t take a picture of it. Everything was so nicely laid out and dispersed. It’s a little thing I know. But I think it’s very indicative of their philosophy. They obviously take pride in their products. Maybe it takes some extra steps but you end up with food that’s pleasant to look at as well as delicious. So far we have been very happy with everything we’ve gotten from The Coop Pizza. The food and the customer service are top notch at this great little(really little) neighborhood pizza parlor.

I used to live in the area for 4 years. I moved away just over a year ago. I used to order a thick-crust all-meat pizza there that I had to order the day before. I’m a carnivore — in my past life I’m pretty sure I was a T-Rex. Why order ahead? Because they make their own dough. The dough… a sonnet should be written. Perfectly light and crisp on the outside, soft and just the right amount of chewy. The sauce is obviously not commercial-grade, it’s not over-salty or bitter, it’s smooth in taste and on the tongue. The cheese — so much NATURAL cheese. The meats are just as wonderful. Put it all together and you have the marvel that is I call my Coop Monster Meat pizza. By the way, that’s what I call it. Mike, the owner and chef, may call it something else. The flavor is out of this world. Cash only so stop at the ATM before heading in and probably a good idea to call ahead. Why do «chain store pizza when you can get a Coop’s pizza? This is a family-owned and run pizzeria and there’s standing room for ordering. It’s a wonderful throw-back before automation and fast became acceptable replacements for hand-made and worth-the-wait. Like I said, order ahead, bring cash, be polite and remember to say«please» and«thank you.» I miss them. Rats! Now I want a Monster from Coop’s and they’re closed. Seriously, you have to try Coop’s.

Doesn’t look like much from the outside. Typical strip mall type of mom and pop pizza joint. In fact, you probably might overlook it if you’re just driving by. Never judge a book by its cover they say and this falls true to The Coop Pizza. The staff are friendly and the pizzas are great! They make their own pizza dough and have the typical(but many) topping options. You can taste the difference in the dough because it’s crispy but soft and chewy. The tomato sauce is seasoned right and not too acidic or salty. They also don’t skim on the cheese. The pizza comes with stingy melty cheese every slice you pull from the pie. They also sell pizza by the slice! This place has quickly become my local pizza joint and with football season in play, my waistline is going to be in trouble!

OHMYGOD what an amazing cheese pizza. In this city it’s easy to screw that up believe it or not. Mike and Christina have a great operation going. My paramour has been going through a rough patch. Well let me say this, I’ve been giving him the third degree cause he’s reconnecting with FB girls from grade school. I mean WTF! Poor guy had to go on medication. So, of course, a pizza is a much needed checkout. But not just any pizza will do with out NY Pizza expectations. Okay back to channel Coop — I want you guys to grow but please do not change your family values and quality. A+++++ XO, Snap

Off the bat, this is one of my favorite slices in L.A. It’s a good basic NY-ky slice. But at 7:30p on this Thurs night, they were just overwhelmed? Or short-handed? What bothered me though was the off the cuff way the girl at the counter dismissed my(stupid??) request for 2 pepperoni slices. She waved her hand at the empty space where the slices normally are and said«oh we aren’t making any more slices» — like it was midnight??? I said OK well, what if I buy a pizza? Again, offhand, discouraging, I could care less about you and your pizza… She says«well you can but it’ll be 45 minutes.» So I left opened up Unilocal and found another frankly better slice ½ a mile a way which makes it likely that that’s my last stop at the Coop right? This review is almost strictly for their edification because can you really afford to lose customers like that?

Great slice, very inexpensive at 2.00 a slice(cheese). Not a huge slice, so get 2. I’m from NY and I love NY pizza. I liked this better than Mulberry Street, but not as good as Joe’s in Santa Monica. Thats my favorite NY pizza in Socal.

Family-owned joint. On my commute home. Thin crust pizza. None too greasy. You can walk up and grab a slice of cheese pizza for $ 2.18. That’s what I do once a week or at least every other week. Just having this as a friendly neighborhood option is really what keeps me coming back. I’m loyal to nostalgia and mom’n’pop places. Quickie advice: if you call ahead for pick-up, you’ll want to do that earlier in the day because The Coop closes pretty early around 9:30pm. Often on the weekends, they’re just swamped, so when you call, you’ll hear a sound you haven’t heard in a years: a busy signal!

I love The Coop Pizza Tiny place with a big taste Crispy bottom of the pizza crunch and nice crust The sauce is top notch and the mozzarella is grade A I think a plain cheese pizza is the best barometer of great pizza and theirs passes the test The sausage and pepperoni are really good too Get it by the slice or a whole pie

Solid neighborhood pizza joint! I’ve passed by this place over 100 times and finally, I was like, «I’m gonna try that place!» After a brief perusal of their Unilocal reviews and a quick look at their menu I called to get delivery. The person on the phone was very patient and friendly. I tried ordering a small pizza for delivery but he kindly informed me that there is a $ 14 minimum for all delivery orders to I opted for the medium pizza and drink. People call me a «pizza snob» but I’m really not, I adore pizza in all its forms, and this pizza was no exception! Style-wise, it’s not New York or Chicago or Italian, it’s just good ‘olé American pizza thin(ish) crust. Not thin but not thick, somewhere in the middle. **THEBREAKDOWN** SAUCE: Not too spicy, not too sweet. Chunky and you can taste subtle herbs but doesn’t overpower or take away from sauce on a whole CHEESE: No stretch but not plastic either. It’s fine. CRUST: Overall soft especially bottom, slight exterior crunch, but soft airy center. A bit doughy but good neutral flavor(not too sweet or too salty). I was craving pizza something fierce and this place really hit the spot! If you’re looking for a no frills, family owned(I think), non-pretentious neighborhood pizza joint, look no further! NOTE: Delivery guy was friendly and courteous! Something rarely seen from the«major» pizza chains anymore. **$ 14MINIMUMFORDELIVERY** **CASHONLY**
