Decided to pop in to this Farmer’s Market since it was right across the way from the therapy office. I was in the mood for some chicken and a nice aroma was coming from this spot and according to Unilocalers it had a four star rating. I ordered the BBQ Hawaiian chicken plate and asked for brown rice instead of white. He informed me the substitution would be an additional dollar, that was fine. The kind gentleman asked if I wanted everything that came with it and I said yes. So there was brown rice, topped with two scoops of chicken and a clear sauce. It came with steamed veggies(broccoli, bok choi, cabbage, and onions) which were delicious, and noodles(they were tasteless). The rice was cooked perfectly and the chicken tasted really good. I would have liked more sauce and a smidgen more chicken — I mean if it was a bowl that would have been enough chicken but not a plate. I’ve paid less and had the chicken cover the rice. Lots and lots of rice on this plate. If I went back, I would try something different and maybe ask for extra meat. Customer service was good and they were clean and quick. They are located towards the rear of the market, in the corner to the left.

Indeed, all the things said are true about Carbon Grill catering. They catered a tv pilot we shot last week and were really good. The salmon was my least favorite which we found to be tasteless. Also the pasta sauce was a little too sweet for me or this place would have earned 5 stars. Cool staff. Good food. Let them cater your event.

We gave The Carbon Grill a try at the Mt. Sac Farmer’s Market in Walnut. The display and signs were impressive, and the smell of the food pulled us closer to the front for an up close investigation. The food was pretty good. We had the chicken quesadilla with beans and guacamole. The cheese was the star of the show with the chicken a close second. The guacamole was a little lackluster, but I suspect that it is to keep the items well-priced. I also did not care for the type of lettuce that was served with the plate.

I tried this place at the Thursday’s farmer’s market on 18th St and La Cienega. Their stand looked very appealing and the chicken smelled good. I ordered the pork, and they served a lot of food for the $ 7.50 paid. The food was bland, from the veggies, the noodles to the pork. I regretted buying this food for my dinner and my tummy hurts as I write the review. Avoid, don’t be fooled by the others who rated it high.

This place is boss. Lisa and her family really know how to make this girl happy. Their chicken, rice, and vegetables are perfectly cooked, and the Hawaiian sauce they put atop everything is the most delicious thing I never knew I needed. Find them at the La Cienega Farmer’s Market on Thursday, and the Main Street Market on Sundays(for breakfast!)

If you find yourself in a parking lot on La Cienega instead of Hawaii(and who doesn’t)…go to the Hawaiian-style Carbon Grill. Fast, fresh, delicious street food. The star of the La Cienega Farmer’s Market on Thursdays. Run by a nice family and with the ever-gracious Lisa and her brother Chris.

GOODFOODAT A GREATVALUE! Both the chicken and the pork are SOLID and there’s so much fixins on the side, you won’t be hungry afterwards. Do not miss the STRAWBERRYLEMONADE which is one of the best fresh fruit drinks that I’ve ever had. They use real, fresh, ripe strawberries all year round — no fake stuff here. I usually go to the 1801 S La Cienega Blvd 90035 location because its convenient and parking is easy. After you get your food, you can sit down at tables provided, or wander the other stalls and buy groceries to take home with you.

Definitely one of the top reasons why I go to LA all the way from NorCal! The food is awesome and the family(aka staff) are as friendly and smiley as can be!

This family operated business serves up great food at great prices. I love the chicken and chow mein noodles with fresh vegies(and rice if you want it). The Strawberry-Lemondade is great on a warm day-(I would even drink it on a cold day). It would be great if they could get written up in LA Magazine.(Best Food Issue). If anyone has any contacts to get them written up, that would be awesome! Great food, Great prices, Great people.

DELICIOUS!!! I’ve been going to get food from them every Thursday at the Farmer’s Market on La Cienega &18th for years now. Wish they had their own store in L.A. so I could eat there more often! LOL. The food is sooooo good!!! I switched from the chicken plate to the pork plate recently because it’s even more tasty than the chicken! I used to get the chicken wrap which was soooo HUGE that I could never finish the entire thing… then I switched to the chicken plate with veggies & beans which I could eat it all in one sitting. Whoa! Then one day, I discovered their pork… OMG it’s soooooo delicious!!! I usually get a pork plate with rice, beans, veggies, noodles and of course hawaiian bbq sauce! Cheese on top please! Yum! My son loves their food so much that one year we had it catered for his birthday. Everyone loved it! It helps when the food is not too heavy and doesn’t leave with this guilty, greasy feeling afterwards LOL. The taquitos are pretty tasty, hard crunch, but soft chicken on the inside. They also have small portions of the food plates if you ask. I’ve gotten those a couple times when I know I can’t eat the entire thing, but am still craving it… yes, what a pig! LOL. The strawberry lemonade is refreshing and you can taste the strawberries in it. Yum! I wish I could drink two of them! It’s tastes especially cool during those hot summer nights. Lisa, the owner, is the best!!! She is ALWAYS nice, sweet, and gives each customer her full attention. It’s really cool when you’ve been going to her so much that she says, «Hi Kelly, the usual?» And she remembers my son’s name and how he likes his plate as well. Love that! The personal touch is always a huge plus in my book and that’s how they get me coming back all the time!

Tried them at the Covina Farmer’s Market tonight. I wanted to like this, but I was so disappointed with the chicken taquitos. Absolutely no flavor – extremely bland. Even with the(tasteless) guacamole and a bit of sour cream. I should have doused it in hot sauce. Why don’t they season the chicken? My husband had the chicken fajitas and he said it was just okay. Can’t say we will order from them again.

We go to Carbon Grill every Sunday at the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market. *Every* Sunday. I always get the quesadilla with chicken and veggies inside. Top with some soy and rooster sauce and BAM goodbye Saturday night, hello healthy Sunday. So filling and yummy, and the loveliest people working at the stand. Go Lisa!

I like to check out the farmers market at Mt. Sac after playing tennis on Saturday mornings and Carbon Grill is always here. I smell their delicious grilled chicken and sometimes even try a sample, but 10AM is a little early for lunch and I’ve usually already eaten breakfast… Well this Saturday, after virtuously stocking up on apples and grapes, I decided that I deserved some food. I ended up with the breakfast«wrap» although the quesadilla and the burrito which is roughly the size of a baby also looked very appetizing. The term«wrap» is used very loosely because the tortilla is so stuffed with eggs, chicken, onions, and cheese that it doesn’t even come close to closing. This is a knife and fork type of wrap! The smaller 2 compartments in the Styrofoam box are filled with red potatoes. They’re not exactly breakfast potatoes, more like slightly mashed baked potatoes. Either way it was really good. The strawberry orangeade is also to die for! So sweet and delicious. It’s a good thing I shared my food and played tennis for 2 hours before or I would have had to roll back home.

I found the Carbon Grill at the Farmers Market on Saturday at the Southlands Christian School in Rowland Heights. I was pretty hungry and in the mood to just eat something really delicious. Since Carbon Grill was the largest stand at the farmers market, I thought wow, this Mexican food canopy should be pretty good. The set up was really nice with one person grilling the chicken, the other handling orders and another lady taking care of the cash register. I ordered their Strawberry Lemonade and their Chicken Fajitas. PROS — They give you a lot of chicken. — Very nice — Great price — includes all the salsa, guacamole, and sour cream you want. CONS — Salsa, guacamole, and sour cream were not so fresh — Very hard chicken. The chicken tasted bland and old. — Lacking in variety. — Their rice was really hard. I ended up throwing away my food and just ate part of the tortilla and beans. Note: They only have chicken available. Advice: Bigger doesn’t always mean better.

This food really hits the spot! Really fresh and tasty ingredients. The chicken can’t be beat. Ask them about their catering events. They can do all sorts of food for about $ 10/person. A great deal considering the quality that you’re getting.

The only place I’ve seen this catering service regularly is at the Friday night Farmer’s Market in Downtown Covina. No resaurant location that I know of. Food is a little more expensive than your average eatery, about $ 5 – 9 for each food plate, but you get at least your money’s worth. Large portions of fresh food, chicken right off the grill and cooked in front of you. All of the staff is very friendly and clearly know what they’re doing. They are willing to add extra of any ingredient, usually with little or no extra cost, depending on how busy they are at the moment. All of the mexican dishes are done well, if not entirely traditional, grilled quesadillas and 2 pound burritos are highly recommended with grilled onions, guacamole and sour cream. The bad points to the restaurant are few. There is a very limited selection but it is expected of a catering business. Only chicken dishes, and the food isn’t complicated if you’re looking for a lot of flavors. Salsa and guacamole are fairly standard. All-in-all, a good place to get good food, granted you’re in an area where they’re set up or are in need of catering.

Carbon Grill is a portable, Mexican food station that you’ll find at the Southlands Christian Schools farmers market, among other places. They’ve got a very attractive setup, with lots of chicken smoking on the grill, and they sell various chicken items including a giant burrito, quesadillas, and tacos. GOOD: — Tons of meat. They’re not stingy with the meat. — Very fresh with the women grating cheese onto our food as we ordered, and very tasty grilled onions. — Very affordable at $ 5.50 with guac, sour cream, and salsa all included. NOTSOGOOD: — The salsa, guac, and sour cream were all pretty nasty and tasted like they came out of a can. Luckily these were all on the side. — Not as much cheese as I usually like in a quesadilla. The meat overpowers everything else. — All they had was chicken. I love chicken, but this might be an issue for you if you like carnitas or steak. So, not amazing, but a decent bargain if you’re looking for a chicken-heavy, $ 5 meal.
