This place has changed names, and probably owners. This is actually a good thing, because the last few times I’ve been have been sort of empty and awkward. Not like running into an ex-boyfriend awkward, but more like wanting to break up with a current boyfriend but not doing it yet because he owes you a birthday present awkward. Basically, this place used to have good drinks and Groupons deals but everything else was whatevs. But now that they’re gone, I’m glad there are new options to date… errr, taste. /bing bong

A friend and I came here April of 2011 because Hautelook had a coupon when you spend $ 20 and get $ 60 worth of food and drinks. So we decided to go to their happy hour that I believe they have everyday. It was everything I had expected it to be and more. We mostly just ordered off the HH menu and every dish that we had was delicious! We sat in the bar area that was inside and it was just beautiful. Low lighting candle light dinner. It’s great for a night out with the girls or a romantic evening with your significant other. I can’t wait to go back and use one of the private bungalows they have out side.

Winning dishes for Happy Hour, happening 4−7pm everyday: Bangkok Hummus– This is absolutely divine! 3 halved pitas warmed up thoroughly in the oven is the ULTIMATE companion to sautéed mushrooms in worcestershire(or some dark sauce), nested in their house-made hummus– a super-thick and creamy blend of garbanzo beans, tahini, oil, and garlic. Ahi Tuna Tar Tar– Spicy tuna sashimi with soy sauce shaped into a cake mold, rested in puréed avocado, and topped with freshly-fried chips. Spicy, savory, flavorful and so pleasing. An exquisite alternative to the typical salsa dip for chips. Two dishes serve as an ideal meal for two hungry ladies. Don’t hold back, a phenomenal experience awaits your tastebuds. **Will return for more bangkok hummus, while seated in a bungalow outdoors.

Until they hire an onsite professional event planner for the venue, I would not recommend this place for an event. I am an event planner and we had held a very important 1st Birthday here recently and first of all, I was disgusted with the infestation of flies. Granted it was out on the patio, the amount the flies that swarmed the food was ridiculous, and needless to say, disgusting. Other outdoor seated restaurants do not have this problem… so why can’t they control it? Not to blame the venue for ALL the mishaps of the event, but as a business, if you’re going to make a promise, please don’t break it. I was there and ready to setup the décor for the event only to find that no one was at the venue to open the doors for me. I had to wait at least half an hour to 45min(pushing my already limited time) to start my setup. which eventually caused me set up while guests arrived… a huge embarrassment to my client and myself. I was truly mortified that guests had to ask how they can help. The manager was no help either or even apologetic for the food that was served a half hour late… making guests fill up their hunger at the bar(of course. it benefited the venue… why am I not surprised) The food itself, when it finally did come out, was good, but only if it had come out in time and in the correct order… the vegetables that should’ve been served first, actually came out as the same time as dessert because, they forgot. In the end, almost everything went wrong. It’s likely I will not hold any events here unless I hear that they’ve hired an event planner or even just a more responsible catering manager. but that would still be a maybe.

Well first of all I made reservations and emphasized how important it was for my pregnant wife to be seated in a nonsmoking area. How we ended up outside is a mystery. We got there a little early and things weren’t set up «sexy» yet. The music seemed to me like something from a lingerie boutique, kinda gay to me. Our server was helpful at first until it got dark then we were literally left in the dark. Ladies, I recommend bringing a flashlight with you into their restrooms: The red light bulb doesn’t cut it. I also realized the bungalows were repainted so the booths that belonged in it were pulled out and were an real eye sore. It took longer to get our check than to get our food. Waitress was given several reminders to give us our check. The place gets so dark, I could barely see what I’m eating. Now lets get down on the food. Appetizers — Buffalo Boss Sliders $ 12 Came with 2 and were cooked medium rare to my liking but a big no no for a pregnant woman. We asked for the waitress for well done and what does she do, she takes the slider to the kitchen and tosses it back on the grill! Seasoned fries $ 8 Entrees — Wife — Pan Roasted Free Range Chicken Breast $ 17 Myself — Steak and mushroom risotto $ 24 This place gets 3 stars only because the food was actually pretty good to me.

Ok, so now that I’ve actually been able to experience this place I can write an accurate review… Overall I liked the Bungalow Club; plenty of tables, cool, kinda sexy décor, great drinks, and good food. I was also impressed by their happy hour prices — $ 6 for a 10oz martini from 4−7pm? Umm yes please! Things seemed a little disorganized during the time we came; 9:30 ish is kind of a transition hour, so I suppose thats why the music volume and selection kept changing and the server only brought us one water. I also noticed some of the booths were torn, not all the candles were lit, and there was a fair amount of paint chippage. No biggie. We ordered the mac and cheese, tuna tartar, and spicy tuna roll(sans jalapeño). Oh and of course, the BEST part, my blueberry lychee martini, which was nice and strong, I might add. Food was good; mac n cheese($ 8) was super rich, tuna tartar($ 12) was delicious, and tuna roll($ 13) was average but good. I recommend the tuna tartar. Very good. Prices were average; I don’t think the tuna roll was worth $ 13, but my drink was well priced at $ 10 as well as other drinks on the menu — specialty cocktails were huge, strong, and only $ 8. Wine pours were large too. Good stuff! I agree with another Unilocaler; great place to come for drinks, and i’d recommend making the Bungalow Club your first stop for a big night out, or a laid back place to grab some drinks with a date!

This place is dead. On a Friday night. Sketchy neighborhood, sketchy valet. The Bungalow Club wavers on 2~3 stars. It’s a great place to have a large party where food is not the main focus. Kind of like Super Bowl food — it’s there to nosh on while you engage in something else more interesting. Food doesn’t seem very fresh here. Kind of scary. The Mac and Cheese really is as good as everyone says it is, and the Buffalo Boss Sliders are also pretty okay(pickles are limp and awful, though). However, the food is not enough to bring me back for repeat visits. Then again, this place really isn’t about the food, right? I don’t know what it’s about…

Instigated by a friend’s Living Social offer, «All Night Happy Hour,» and nothing better to do on a Monday night, I decided to venture out of my WLA comforts and onto Melrose Ave for a mellow night at the Bungalow Club. Having driven by this little haunt time and time again, I was looking forward to the opportunity to sip cocktails amongst the plush Mediterranean décor. Little did I know that I would live annoyed and slightly p/o’d. Upon entry, my guest and I were not greeted, acknowledged, or even seated. I turned a blind eye to the lack of hospitality and gave the lounge the benefit of the doubt. It’s Monday night, it’s pretty cas,’ probably a «seat yourself» policy. My friends and I found a table off to the side. Proceeded to analyze the menu and opted for tuna tartar and the buffalo sliders as we perused the drink menu. Beers under $ 5, martini’s at $ 6, premium cocktails around $ 12. With the exception of the last item, the prices were fair. The waiter untasked by other guests(there was a private screening in the back that had its own staff), seemed rushed and in a hurry to flip tables(there might as well have been crickets chirping, the joint was pretty lifeless). He didn’t mention much in terms of the specials of the night or even reiterate the«all night happy hour.» Despite the mixed tones and atmosphere, I continued to give the resto the benefit of the doubt. We decided to pass on drinks. In a nutshell, the food was bland, the service was terrible and rushed(despite the lack of crowed). The plate holding my tartar was scooped up beneath me before I even could swallow my last bite. I received the bill to realize that the food was not happy hour priced and was charge for my(on tap) club soda. I’ve never left a restaurant upset to pay or genuinely annoyed at my experience. STEERAWAY from the Bungalow, it’s not worth even breathing in.

So the owner made some comment about my negative review being related to valet losing my car keys??? What are you talking about, dude? I’ve never valeted at your restaurant. I’ve only(UNFORTUNATELY) eaten there. Seriously, avoid this place, the staff is incompetent(apparently they’re prone to losing people’s car keys and not just terrible service) and the food is about as good as you’d get in a 7-Eleven.

So, the owner set me a letter, I thought it was some form of apology, instead the email had one word: Hater. This is what I wrote back: You know, the place was empty. You were foolish to write such a letter, all you had to say that you were sorry about my vist to your Resturant. Stupid, Stupid, way to treat a customer, someone comes to you to spend money. Do the math, we had a round of drinks and would have had at least another round; two dinners and a desert and coffee. Now as you put it, you have a hater, not only that; perhaps you learned the rule of ten: for every one upset customer, you will lose ten because of word of mouth, or in my case bitch, word of Unilocal

I walk by this place all the time but have never went in. When I was browsing places to have an upcoming birthday, i liked their beer menu(Franzikaner and other nice imported wheat beers). So last night when I walked by, I suggested stopping in for a drink. The ambiance is perfect for a date or to lounge with friends. I love the booths, the bar, and the music. It’s def the perfect place to host a party(which I now plan to do for my birthday). The service was OK. It was the tail end of happy hour($ 4 beers) and they had a nice selection of happy hour treats too so we decided to get dinner. The waitress wasn’t overly pleasant but was on top of it. She made sure to get our order in before happy hour, which was super nice. And she was very attentive. The food was very really good. I had an amazingly fresh salad with strawberries and arugula. We also tried this ridiculously good hummus topped with warm sautéed shitake mushrooms. AMAZING!!! My hubs had an order of sliders and he was very pleased with them. I had the mac and cheese, which was delicious. My friend had an hierloom tomato and burratta salad. The tomatoes were sweet with just the right amount of seasoning and dressing. We will def be back!

Yawn, bored, blah. We decided to start New Years here since Formosa Café was closed and it is literally the closest place to drink from my apartment. I knew about their cocktails since I had been to their sister bar and love a good cocktail. When it is 10.45 pm in Hollywood, on a Friday, New Years Eve and your place is empty, it makes me a little sad. The bartenders took plenty of time to help us, and then ignored me when I started to order. My date asked for advice on a beer and they handed him the list. I know it is New Years Eve and you are working but I am in a good mood and will pay you to be nice to me. The Cocktail was just as good as at the other location, but the people are not as friendly. My date was adorable, and I was buzzed, so the place still gets three stars.

This is a really chill spot to come to whether it be with a date, the homies or just you & your homechick to catch up. I really do enjoy coming to the bungalow club since my first visit about 3 years ago. Never had a bad experience. I love the atmosphere here. Especially if you get a bungalow in the back. The dim lighting really sets the mood, makes it romantic! Personally I like the food here. Nothing too heavy especially when you’re having drinks, which are good too. *Delicious mojitos* Mac & cheese is good. Salmon with bok choy is my first pick if we aren’t doing an assortment of appetizers to share. Oh! and the mango sauce that comes with the big mix appetizer is so yummy. Spicy & sweet! I always ask for 2 little sides. I suggest you fork over the $ 5 for valet to avoid having to look for parking. I’ve seen people dress casual to this place but I like to get a bit more dolled up for this lounge. I also always make reservations. Seating in the patio is great but if you get seated up front by the bar, those seats are just too close to the next party. You can over hear everything. Makes you wanna turn around and say: Oh no she didn’t!?! I give it: 4 Stars Your Homegirl, Violy

We had our wedding here this past Saturday(7÷3÷10). After looking at countless venues and realizing that we were just too cool to have a «golf course» wedding, we decided to check out The Bungalow Club. I had eaten here a number of times and enjoyed the atmosphere and food, so I was confident that this was the place. Anat — the owner– really saw what we wanted and she made it very affordable for us. We got EVERYTHING that we wanted and more and we did not break the bank. During our year long engagement, I communicated often with Anat, and she always answered all of my questions. The day of the wedding was beautiful. Our guests LOVED being served apitizers before the ceremony. We loved having our ceremony in one of the bungalows. The patio was the perfect setting and I loved being able to get a drink at the bar and then mingle in the patio.(My guests even raved that the drinks were wonderful and not watered down.) When dinner was served, it was presented beautifully and everyone said that this was the best wedding food they had ever had. Everyone wants to know what is in the Israeli Cous Cous. Also, being served family style is wonderful. The night went on, and I swear they like to keep you fat and drunk, because we were all stuffed and had our fill of drinks. Our guests were happy and we all had a great time. We could not have asked for anything better. Our friends and family keep saying that it was classy, beautiful, relaxed and fun. A+++++++++++++++ Thank you Anat!!!

I really like this place and the atmosphere they’ve created. The front area feels more like your typical LA bar while the back patio is more of a lounge and is where the bungalows are located. I’ve been here for dinner twice. The first time I had the Cajun Alfredo which I really enjoyed. The second time I had the steak which was a little overcooked and not very flavorful. Both times I was seated in one of the bungalows, which offers a nice semi private atmosphere. Even though I’ve enjoyed my dinners here I think The Bungalow Club is best for happy hour when you can get a good deal on their delicious cocktails along with some appetizers. My personal favorite is the Raspberry Lemon Drop. I’ve had some of their other martinis and have yet to be disappointed.

A unique blend of restaurant, bar, lounge, hip hop music, this is quite an all-in-one place for good socializing and hanging out with friends. I came for New Year’s Eve, and I had to say I was impressed with the set up. There’s a nice outdoor area too with cabanas and lots of heating. There’s also a room for what seems like private parties upstairs. NYE may not have been the most ideal night to eat there, but I went with a huge group of people who made reservations. The waitress highly recommended me not to order the sushi because it would take even longer to bring out. Their sushi rolls looked a bit on the expensive side too for something you could probably get better and not as expensive at a Japanese restaurant. But I have yet to judge that. Food service was slow, and I actually thought the menu looked pretty sparse. I turned it over and over wondering if there were more selections somewhere else. So I wasn’t expecting much from the salmon I ordered, but I was actually surprised. The salmon was very good, and the sauce on it was delicious. It was also served with a mango salsa that was refreshing and paired well with the fish. We kind of wished the waitress had brought out the calamari earlier,(and that was good too) but ah, it was NYE. My other friends ordered the steak frittes and they actually did an admirable job on cooking a true medium rare steak. Then again, I feel like those are always hit or miss. But two people ordered steaks and they were both pretty good, so maybe that speaks for something! The bar is huge too and I think it was a really cool hangout spot overall! Would definitely comeback and bring other people. =)

Small/cute venue. They have a bar/lounge downstairs and a little room upstairs. The night that I went, the upstairs was closed for a special event. Looks like a pretty nice place to hold a birthday party or a small event. There were like 5 bartenders in one bar so I didn’t have to wait to get my drinks. Great service~ they are very quick at making drinks! I tried the Raspberry Mojito because that was the first comment I saw when I checked out the reviews for Bungalow Club and Susie B(below) is right! The Raspberry Mojito was the best I’ve ever had. Price = not so expensive Music = A-ok $ 6 valet parking wasn’t so bad.

I came here for dinner on a Friday night. A bungalow was reserved but upon arrival — my reservation was nowhere to be found. I was about to leave in a huff(didn’t even show a glimpse of my fury at this point) and next thing you know — I didn’t have to. We were seated fairly quick. I don’t like it when the waitstaff seem confused when taking simple orders — a pet peeve of mine– and they didn’t have the wine that I wanted. She offered the next best thing which wasn’t the next best thing at all. The food was okay. The ambiance isn’t as romantic as you would think it would be. This place is better for group dinners. Also, there is an upstairs(where the restroom is — which is very cramped) and I believe you can party up there but I didn’t see the room. Downstairs — the bar area is probably the best spot. Loud top 40s music and good lighting. You have options here =) Posted dessert pic(looks better than it tasted) Valet Parking.
