Hollywood vibes without the boujie crowd. Ambiance is welcoming and the crowd is friendly. The bar tender Julie is great.. Cheers

Came here to meet a friend and the guys at the door lied saying there’s a private party which there isn’t. Assholes for no reason.

I recently stumbled onto this bar, which is literally right around the corner from my apartment. Love the atmosphere, love the strong mixed drinks, and just love the fact that it is a neighborhood/dive bar. No food, no dining tables, just drinks and music. The bartender, Audra, was awesome.

I’ve been coming to The Bar since 2004 and it continues to be my favorite place to disappear from the craziness. Some nights are empty and some nights are jam packed, the drinks are stiff and the prices haven’t changed since it opened. Some of the best djs on the planet have spun there and you never know who you’ll run across.

Decent but nothing special. Nice low key hole in the wall watering hole. Bartender was cool.

Great bar! I love the dark atmosphere and decently priced drinks. Cool smoking area too. Next to an awesome traditional tattoo shop!!!

The Bar is a perfect name for this place. It is exactly what you want in a bar — strong drinks, great music, good lighting and friendly staff. It’s laid back and not too crowded. Perfect place to come any day of the week.

This place is killer! Really dark and romantic. Has a laid back speakeasy vibe. It’s a great place to cuddle with a new date and get your buzz on. The DJs are good and it’s never crazy packed!

Friend was doing a gig here. Friend was getting a cut from all sales, probably almost made as much as the bartender did in tips. 5dollar bottles of bud, tad on the pricey side for a car that isnt in a prime location. Nice feel to the bar, but ya mid week, she is empty with mostly bar hoppers coming in.

*** Atmosphere * Music This place isn’t ever shoulder to shoulder packed, you can always get a drink at the bar. There’s a good group of people that come on some Thursday’s– they do an event called«Turnip Thursdays» … like… turn up… Thursday… get it? They have a back patio for smokers. I love the dark atmosphere. They have some booths and table space. Just a fun dive bar I like to go and get away and drink whiskey in the dark. Good stuff.

Very chill. Very good bar. :) staff is great. DJ is fun. He goes from Stevie wonder to prince, but somehow smoothly. Clean. From the outside you wouldn’t even know it’s a bar at first. The music however is a bit too loud at times. but still, good bar :)

Just no. I tell you why: — Overpriced!(7 $ Heineken) — No menu whatsoever (means you gotta ask the barman every time you want to know what they have or what it costs. Annoys them, and annoys me. I bet they make a lot of money just based on the fact that people feel not comfortable asking for every price on their drinks and just end up ordering(and paying) anything. Sad! I don’t even know what cocktails they offered.) — Too loud! (Definitely the loudest bar I have ever been to, arguably louder than every club I have ever been to. It was SO hard to have a conversation; a group convo was impossible since you could only understand the person sitting next to you that was screaming. The DJ would randomly increase volume for no reason.) — Music: meh. (though the DJ himself seemed really into his own stuff. good for him) — Seating (If you come with 1 or 2 friends, it works, but any more than that and you’ll not be able to sit together.)

This place is a great divey but not divey bar, if that makes sense. I keep going back because the bartenders are super fun and sweet, especially… I think her name is Christy… raddest bartender ever. Often fun music and good vibes. Also very chill to stop by if you’re by yourself because it’s easy to meet people there.

I love this bar! From the outside you would never think it’s as cool as it is on the inside. It looks like a complete dive from the sign outside that just says«Cocktails» in red neon lights. It’s not that big but has very high ceilings so you feel like you’re in a large space. The crowd was very chill and it didn’t get over crowded which I really liked. They had PBR cans for $ 4 which was so awesome for a bar on Sunset in Hollywood. Almost unheard of actually. There were also really good DJ’s spinning that kept the place lively. I love the small outdoor patio space as well. They have a lot of booths for sitting which is convenient. I had such a fun night here and recommend checking it out!

I’ve only been here once, but that was enough. For two of us, our bar tab was over $ 100 and neither of us were even a little tipsy at the end of the night. Could’ve just been the bartender, but the drinks weren’t worth the money at all.

Came on a Monday for the first time and found it refreshing to be in actual bar! No tv, hot wings, and overly pushed up boobs to distract me from sitting and catching up with a friend. The karaōke was quite superb as well!

mmm. it wasn’t the kinda dive I was expecting, I thought it was gonna be a lil bit cheaper. but for Hollywood I suppose $ 14 for a jameson and a shitty beer is a considerable savings. came to support my friends who dj’d, so I can at least attest that the music is good. its a small enough venue that things do get intimate after a drink or two. once you’re ready for a cigarette in their tiny smoking corridor u will be forced to talk to people. and they really want to talk to u too, its weird like u don’t really see that often in our generation. like people are super game to talk and be ridiculous. like hey, wuhh? haha, yeah! twerk? NO. haha. ya! and its all over too soon and I go home, crawl into bed. just filled with a surfeit of regrets. #dive dove

This place was pretty lame. I came here on a blind date. It wasn’t anything special. The music was WAY too loud and the DJ was terrible. They don’t make very good use of the space, the bartender was pretty stand offish and it was just overall meh. They did make an absinthe for us and it was really cool, but when we asked questions about the process, she seemed annoyed that we were trying to talk to her. Maybe it’s just not really my scene, I don’t like bars/clubs that much to begin with. This place cemented my dislike of them.

Nice little lively joint on a Friday night. Forgot I came here had it not been for that check in. They shot me a nice HEAVY pour of Macallan’s 12 year, that’s how u get that extra star.

Good dive bars in the Hollywood area are hard to come by. The Bar is a good one. Street parking is the way you’ll have to go but I have never really had a problem finding a spot. They have good DJs on the weekends, and the bartenders are easy on the eyes(and friendly if you aren’t a douche). Usually not too crowded, It’s a good place to kick back or mingle with others.
