An old hamburger joint! For an old fashion burger, egg or tuna salad sandwich, old fashion fries to banana, pecan or apple pie a la mode I have been coming here since High School, and I tried everything in the menu. I can honestly say I have visited this place way over 100 times perhaps more and as far as I can remember things still the same A quick burger for before or after the movies, a novelty perhaps, a quick bite with no expectation Strongly recommend the experience Bring cash as no credit cards accepted About $ 45 to $ 50 bucks for 2 people that’s for 2 burgers, fries, slice of pie, drinks and tip A bit expensive yet Is worth the experience for a quick bite

Few parking spots in back but get here early. Seating at counter, not tables. Their specialty is their Hickory Burger. Place is so busy, people frequently order take out which is what we did. Food was good along with fries.

YIKES! Everyone in my family will hate me for this review — because they ALL love this place as the best burger place ever… but why? I ate here once — based on the highest recommendations from my wife’s family — — and boy was I disappointed. Yes, it is Okay — but it is not Great! Yes, it is fun — but it is NOT that fun! Come here for the good energy and the so-so burger.

The hype is real. The Travel Channel video is as spot on as their burgers. I went hickory burger, fries and heck yeah the banana cream pie. It was a fantastic Valentines Day meal! Reason this place has been around for so long and has the following it does. I was told by people waiting in line with me that hickory is the way to go over the original. I obviously can’t compare it to the original, but I would be willing to bet it can’t beat the hickory because not much can! But seriously, don’t skip the pie. It’s alllll that!

Best original burger you will eat. Simple, fresh ingredients and quick service. Order the steak burger and fries and get the banana pie after. This place have been here forever and will be here forever.

This place was good! I came here for dinner before going to the movies at Westside pavilion. It’s a really cute place with an old school 1950s diner feel where you’re sitting at the counter. Service was quick and the food solid. I tried the burger and the banana pie. Both were really good and affordably priced. It’s nothing that special but it’s definitely convenient, fast, and cheap! I wasn’t aware that it was cash, so I had to scout out an ATM.

«Best Burger in LA» …Sorry, but why does that statement sound like an illusion? How can you grant a burger that title? It’s just buns, meat, veggies, and some condiments, right? People like it hefty and thick, some people like it with a ton of fancy toppings, and some are minimalists. The world may never know. /end«best burger» rant I’ve been reading about Apple Pan’s for quite some time, saying it’s LA’s best casual burger. I’ve seen(the 90’s) Beverly Hill 90210’s mock the U-shaped burger joint calling it the PEACH Pit(oh, get it?). It’s one of those places that has stuck around since the 40’s, and Angelenos are still claiming it classic. Things I got out of my first Apple Pan experience: 1) CASHONLY — yup, that tall cashier register machine is from the 40’s. They have a special technician to repair vintage registers. It’s indeed Cash only.(Wells Fargo ATM next door #sorrynotsorry) 2) Steak Burger has RELISH and Hickory Burger has BBQSAUCE. That’s the biggest difference between burger number one and burger two. 3) Got the Hickory Burger and I liked it because it had that backyard BBQ burger feeling and taste. It was dripping with BBQ sauce, which I wish they put less of(I’m the minimalist type, as mentioned from above). But the service was impeccable and our server looked like Raul Julia! Although I liked the burger overall, I thought the fries were meh(they’re the generic frozen brown bag kind, but does the job) and we received a really sad looking apple pie :( Just stick to the burgers here.

Anyone who complains about this place is a stick in the mud It is a crime they are under 4 stars! I came here late one night, waited around for a seat, sat next to strangers and paid cash — and I survived! LOL For those of you who enjoy something with some character, come here for an amazing hamburger, and some of the best pie and ice cream you’ll ever have! Driving the 25-ish minutes out of my way to eat here one night late after a comedy show was WELL worth it! I can’t wait to bring my dad here, he’ll love it.

Hickory burgers are amazing! Apple pie with ice-cream&wipped cream is bomb! Hot chocolate with their special thick wipped crème is awesome! Fries could be better(too plain/a bit tastless) CASH only:( Luckily theirs a Chase, Wellfs Fargo and Bank of America 1 block away. Getting seats here can be so annoying if you come during the wrong time(especially during lunch hour&the evenings!!). I always see people who are waiting on some chairs hovering so closely to the people who are trying to enjoy their meal.

A Westside LA classic. It’s nice to see nothing changes(the plaid wallpaper, swivel chairs and paper cone cups). The Hickory Burger has been my personal favorite. Add in a side of crispy fries and you’ve got a happy customer.

I just got a banana cream pie to go. It was an expensive slice of pie! I think I paid almost $ 7. The pie overall was good, I liked the crust and there was a lot of banana filling. It wasn’t too sweet too. Parking was difficult to find!

How I love the Apple Pan! It is hands down the best neighborhood burger joint in West LA. I can’t speak highly enough about their burgers, sandwiches, shakes, coffee and pies. I mean everything in the menu is just delicious! My personal favorites are the Hickory burger and the Banana Cream Pie. Both are to die for. No joke. Just be sure to get cash at any of the nearby ATMs, because they don’t take cards. But the food and drinks are so great that it’s worth the extra stop by the ATM.

Seasonal pumpkin pie, you are a star. I look forward to every autumn in Los Angeles because of you. CASHONLY joint. LA iconic establishment. Come here for the various century-old-recipe pies and the fries and the burgers. Grilled cheese come with swiss and rye here. Bar seating only. Seats turn over pretty quickly, but it’s very difficult to wait for a row of seats if you have a party of 4 or more.

I’ve been a relationship with Apple Pan longer than I can remember. It’s to the point where the waiters know exactly what I order and how I like my burger — well done. I always get the steak burger with both, swiss and cheddar cheese. The waiters know I like my hot peppers so they always bring out a little side dish with a pile of them just for me. Thank you!!! Save room for their pies because they are worth the calories. Bring cash because they don’t take cards and bring extra to tip the awesome waiters. If you’re in the mood for burgers, come here. You need to try it at least once.

Super cute circular diner, but with very limited seating. Had to wait a while before getting seated. Parking is also a bit difficult around the area. Came here with a friend for lunch, but I already ate so I just got a slice of banana cream pie. It was very creamy but tasted really fresh. The burger and fries looked quite delicious too.

I have mixed feelings about this joint. I love a good burger and usually like the whole nostalgic, throwback vibe but I can’t say I’m too enamored by Apple Pan with either the food or the atmosphere. Food-wise, yes, the burgers are juicy and classic. I shared the original Steak Burger with cheddar and Hickory Burger, which was basically the Steak Burger with barbecue sauce. We also had one serving of fries. The burgers are $ 7 – 8 each and the total cost was $ 21, yikes. Oh sure, I’d spend that much at another burger joint but these were on the small side and nothing fancy. I’d be more likely to choose In-N-Out if all I want is simple and fast, to be honest. The restaurant itself is rather small and cramped. You get to sit on red vinyl bar stools at the counter while people stand against the wall, waiting for seats. The burgers, fries, and ketchup were all served in or on paper plates. It just doesn’t give you a welcoming, cozy, dine-and-relax vibe. Kind of ironic. Perhaps someday I’ll come back though to try the pies but I doubt that’d be anytime soon.

I really really wish I could give this place 4 stars, but no matter how much I thought about it, I can’t. We came in on Saturday afternoon around 3 pm and although usually eateries get empty by the time, there was still a minor wait for a seat for two and plenty of people rushing in for takeout orders. So this is a popular place, and I do recommend anyone who wants a good classic hamburger to definitely go here. Let me start off by saying saying this. I don’t like when restaurants are hypocritical. I don’t like when they use a old tradition to excuse themselves from modern conveniences. If you want to stick to the whole old 1920’s or 1940’s thing with the style of food and décor, that’s totally fine, but don’t charge $ 8 for a hamburger that doesn’t even get you half full, but then say you can’t take credit card. If you want things to look old like your furniture, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t maintain it. Just because you used to serve sodas in a ultra thin paper cone cup that are so difficult to drink out of, doesn’t mean you should do that now. They hand you a burger with a wrapper and no plate. There is nothing pleasureful or nostalgic about this. This place uses the whole old fashioned thing to excuse themselves from having to do dishes or accept credit card or even maintain their restaurant properly. The service we received was also very unwelcoming and not personal. Same way you get service at a mini mart at a gas station. I don’t know if this is also a thing attributed to old world dives. The food is great, the deserts are the only reason they haven’t seen a decline like Johnny Rockets has experienced, but please do us all a favor and improve your restaurant so you can last longer. Half of your restaurants patrons are age 40 and up and anyone younger who I saw was there because someone older brought them. If you don’t wake up, once the older generation is gone, so will your establishment go with them and I don’t want to see that because places like the Apple Pan that are so great are disappearing. Don’t let that happen to you.

Very traditional place that gives you a feel like you’re back in the 50’s. The registers are so old it’s crazy! With all that said, I loved that feeling of being somewhere that has been around for so long and hasn’t changed much. I got the regular burger and it was really really good. Not sure how I feel about $ 8 for a burger but it tastes great. What is stopping this place from me giving 5 stars is the service. The guy was super super rude and made us feel rushed. Every time I asked for something he pretty much threw it on our table. He just had attitude the whole with everyone. Some elderly woman came in to ask to a slice of pie and he was so rude by throwing the pie on the table to her that she threw the money back to him! I didn’t have a chance to try any pies as I wasn’t too hungry when I got there, but definitely will give those a shot next time as well. Burger, fries, and Coke is the best combination there!

Old school diner with burgers, fries and pie. Whats not to like? Very small parking lot in the back(2 – 3 spots). Be careful of parking on adjacent streets(lotta signs and limitations). Really cool seating style, just booth only. You get to see all the hustle and bustle of what diners used to be like, I guess. Simple menu. Youll see when you get there. Ordered Steakburger, hickory burger, and fries. Unfortunately NOPIE(gotta go back for their famous Apple Pie). My fiancé DIDNOT like the steakburger only because of the relish that was in the burger. I am not a fan of relish either but this is a solid burger indeed. The hickory burger was pretty bomb. Their housemade sauce gave it that hickory and sweet/tangy taste to it. The tilamook cheese was melted nicely on my patty and the paper. OH the burger comes wrapped in a burger wrapping paper. I luv that. If youre expecting gourmet burger, like Fathers Office or the fix… then why you even here? Its like a good home made backyard burger.

One of the oldest dinners in town. If you are a burger person then you must try this place. The apple pan is famous for their great pies. I highly recommend coming here for some great pies or taking one to go. The service here very fast. Once you are seated no more then couple minutes your drinks are taken and food order. One of the best pies you will ever have. If you are a person who loves apple pie you are in heaven. The blueberry pie is my favorite. All the banana pie loves you will be licking your plate. Come hungry here. As the food is always fresh and excellent. You have street parking and lot parking.

The BF and I passed by this joint after a late movie at Landmark. He instantly recognized this place and busted a U-turn. I was skeptical at first but boy was I glad we made that stop. You can instantly taste the difference in terms of quality of their burgers. I don’t know if it’s the meat or cheese or perhaps BOTH? SOMETHING in that Hickoryburger is AMAZING and might I add, addicting. We already had dinner before so we ordered 1 burger to share. Both of us definitely regretted not getting our own. Killed it in 5 minutes lol. Even the fries were delicious. And for some reason the little metal cup thing with the paper cone cups made the soda taste even yummier. Is that even possible? I LOVE In-N-Out but this place tastes more gourmet and still maintains the casual burger spot feel. I have to go back to try their pies. They were all sold out that night. :[ On a side note I thought it was cool that they still utilize the old school registers. I think our server said the registers are 50+ years old! This place has some history to it! We arrived exactly 5 minutes before closing time. Got lucky. Someone came in 5 minutes after us for a to-go order and got denied. So yeah, obviously don’t arrive after closing time. Other than that, make sure to order your own burger! Don’t make the mistake we did.

Hickory burger, no cheese is the perfect simple burger. Came at 3:30 on a Sunday, was able to sit down within a minute. The bar is small, so this place is all about speed, drinks were up as soon as they were ordered, with fries soon to follow. Burgers were fast, but made to order, handed to us, and mind blowing

Classic diner! I can’t believe I missed this place and just now started going. So let’s start off with saying that this place is a bit compact. When it gets crowed you have to stand up and wait until someone leaves. This place is not good for groups, good for one or two people. The menu is pretty basic, with a few choices of burgers, sandwich or salad. They also have this amazing apple pie with a scoop of ice cream, yum! Jorge has been our server the last time I went, he was very attentive. Check out @foodgurula
