This place is THE best! It doesn’t hurt that they are literally a block away from me. Butter Chicken, Lentil soup, Yak Stew… everything is delicious

I love this place – I always order delivery through Eat24(the Yak Stew is great and the momos are really good). They make their food on the spicier side, so if you prefer mild, definitely let them know. I don’t know why it says they’re closed because I ordered food tonight and had it delivered.

I Wanted This Place to Be Good. I might give them another shot. I had the lunch special to go. I threw alot of the food away while trying to eat it. This was the worst«Indian Style» meal i have ever had. I my opinion this was not Indian /Himalayan food. I paid around $ 9-$ 10. I do believe the meal should of been $ 4 for the amount of food let alone quality. MY Meal Consisted of: The chicken curry was watery and too salty. The lentil soup was too salty The spinach purée? with very small 3 pieces of cheese? had no texture. Literally green watery purée. I think this was supposed to be like a saag paneer or something. The Nan wow rubbery and thin like a bad tortilla. Even the yogurt was like 2% milk consistency. When i walked in the tables were not set up with the glass and linen yet. The buffet line set up was still just exposed metal with no food ready near lunch time as i walked in around 11:30am. They were still mopping and sweeping the floor. Ordering to go i saw the pile of trash being swept up on the floor. This should of been done all before they opened the restaurant for the day. Even walking into the restaurant the floor mat at the entrance was in a big pile on the floor blocking the door. The only good thing was that the people were very nice to me. I don’t feel good writing this review but I’m glad i went here alone and not with co-workers. Would of been a bad recommendation by me.

Wow. I really enjoyed the food here. I got their lemonade which is freshly made with ginger and not overly sweet at all. The lamb saag was delicious with a whole separate playe of rice as well. My friend got a vegetarian lunch combo for $ 8 that came with a medley of nom noms too. Great service, friendly owner/chef. She even turned on the fan for us on a hot day. Id go back anytime!

This place is bomb-diggity-delicious! It gets two thumbs up and a big ass happy satisfied smile, every time I hit this place up! The atmosphere is frign awesome. Nicely dimmed for a 1st date so you can hide the fuggly parts of your face from your date. Note: parking is a biznatch so I suggest taking über if you live nearby

I had never had Himalayan before until my friend invited me to check out this restaurant. I was skeptical but I have t say that the food was AMAZING and reminded me of African food! The Lamb Vindaloo and the Goat Kadai was FANTASTIC, full of rich Himalayan spices. Normally when I eat a lot of food then I feel sluggish but this food gave me so much life and energy. I was energized for the rest of the night. I could’ve done a full on work out! :)

What can I say Tara’s has some of the best curry around. So creamy so flavorful, also if you like Spice(like I do) they do it right. So what did I eat: Momos: Soft juicy dumplings flavor is very light and delicious Somasas: Unfortunately these are to dense for me. It seems like they were made then frozen. Chicken Korma: My favorite! You can tell they took there time with his curry. The flavor is very vibrant, the spices are on point. Makes me hungry just thinking about it. Kemma nann(Nann filled with ground lamb) I usually order garlic Nann when eating this type of curry. However my boyfriend suggested we try the kemma nann, and as much as it pains me to say this he was correct. The kemma nann was it’s the perfect untesil to slop up that curry.

4.5 stars. We ended up at this restaurant on accident. Following Unilocal reviews we intended on going to a Salvadorian restaurant and accidentally walked in the wrong door. After being handed a menu that said«Namaste» on the front, we were understandably confused, LOL. But it ended up being the best mistake I’ve made in a really long time. The flavors were delicious, portion sizes generous and very reasonable prices. The restaurant was modest in the core but very clean. Excellent excellent food. I would be giving this restaurant five stars if it wasn’t for the fact that drinks were served in Styrofoam and plastic and leftovers were sent and Styrofoam. Call me crazy, but Styrofoam is the most evil material on the planet and I believe every restaurant should have a responsibility to help negate our pollution problems. I will always deduct half a star from any restaurant that uses Styrofoam.

My most frequently visited restaurant near campus. It’s within walking distance, but there’s a parking lot too. Even if the lot is full, there is free street parking. 1. It’s always near-empty 2. They don’t play loud music so you can talk with your friends. 3. 10% of their profit goes towards education in Nepal. 4. Tara’s *always* hits the spot. They don’t have any special special dishes here that I know of(I’m still going through their menu) but everything I’ve tried has that«mountain flavor» if you know what I mean. It’s great. TIPS: 1. free refills on rice. 2. you can get delivery through GrubHub if you don’t feel like dealing with traffic.

Was craving something different so I stopped by. We got the chow chow noodles the Chicken-Lamb-Shrimp Sekuwa, cheese naan and chai. We could choose the spicy level so we asked for a 5 on the noodles and a 7 on the Sekuwa. But when the noodles came out we realized a 7 might be too much, so they happily took our request to lower the heat as they prepared our Sekuwa. Overall the food was very yummy, the lamb was nice and tender and my friend and I left completely happy. Would 100% come back

We live in the area and this is one of our«go to» spots. Why? We love the YAK Chili! It is wonderful! Don’t be surprised at the dirty parking lot. If you judge the place by this mall parking lot you will have missed a jewel. Everyone there has been so friendly and wonderful. This is their 2nd place so they have been building this restaurant little by little and the progress is pretty amazing. There are many dishes we like here! Eggplant, naan, and did I say Yak Chili! Yum.

I was impressed with their spinach naan. The inside of the naan had plenty and was well cooked. The lamb saag was good although I asked for mild, but it tasted milder than mild. Should’ve asked for medium!

Absolutely delicious food!!! Very good vegan options, including brown rice, which for some reason is extremely difficult to find at most Indian restaurants. While initially I went out for Indian food, I immediately changed gears when I stumbled upon this precious gem tucker away in a little mixed-purpose shopping center. Very unpretentious and humble, Taras Himalayan Cuisine provides the best in Nepalese and Tibetan. A good variety of Indian staples like chana, bhindi, dosa, and thalis, but with authentic Nepali dishes like Aloo Bodi Tama. This place is sure to satisfy anyone looking for a good quality meal. Where they lack in ambience they make up for in friendly service and tasty well seasoned dishes. Actual is a bit slow, but hey you can’t rush real food being made in an authentic way. I look forward to coming back for more!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Tara’s Himalayan is DIVINE! Just ordered delivery, Samosas, Momo(pan fried), Kachumba and something Sadeko, ask for it spicy hot! Oh and garlic naan so you can dip the myriad of sauces. I am in love with this place.

This is the HEARTIEST, most SOULFUL food I’ve had in a very long time. I’m so glad that it was available to me. I’m familiar with the USC area and see it all the time but today I ordered delivery and everything arrived fresh and still warm. I honestly didn’t know what a lot of things on the menu were but decided to try anyway and I’m so glad I did. Everything had so much depth of flavor. This place is a MUSTTRY. This was my second time ordering the lunch special I tried both the chicken & lamb as you can see in the pics as well as the chicken momos & special eggplant.

We had Chicken tikka masala and goat w/coconut sauce there. The taste was wonderful! The meat was cooked well and the curry sauce was creamy and delicious. The owner(I’m not sure if she is the owner but I believe so) was very nice to us.

Got the steamed momos. Yuuuuuuum!!! The veggie samosas. Also freaking good. The spicy garlic tofu with tomatoes. Cant believe there were leftovers but since Im having it for lunch, Im glad. You can have reg naan, but why when there’s garlic freakin naan??? Ya know what Im spoutin’??? Mango Lassi is creamy goodness in a styrofoam cup. Actually craving it now as I type. Stop reading. Just go.

My wishes have FINALLY come true and I can die happy! There’s a restaurant near USC for comforting curries and pillowy naan that’ll transport you straight to the heels of the Himalayas. It’s a total hole in the wall run by a mom. She’ll cook to your taste and share a few phrases, too. Dhan yee baht, Ms. Renu! Today, the vegetable curry(aka veggie korma) and spinach, garlic, and cilantro flatbread(naan) nourished my belly like the curry rice my mom used to cook right before exams. A creamy onion sauce brings together cauliflower, black eyed peas, green beans, sweet peas in a mélange of South Asian spices. One scoop with the puffy naan and the notes of cumin and garlic rise into the nostrils as the comfort of creamy bread works it’s way through you. After a long day at work, this is just what I needed to resuscitate the body or realign the chakras if you will. I’m coming back for this or the chana masala I had last time. You can’t handle how good that one is. Did I mention they provide brown rice, no potatoes, and 0 – 10 spice adjustment on request?

The restaurant is kind of expensive for its offerings — not that the food wasn’t delicious, but it isn’t worth that much. Below is about Halal food. Don’t continue if you don’t care. There is a sign outside the restaurant: «We serve Halal food» or something like that, but when I asked inside, turns out they only serve Halal chicken, which is kinda misleading, since in every restaurant I went in that had Halal sign everything was halal. They should specify what is Halal on the sign IMO. Also, there is a beautiful statue of Buddha inside. Not that I’m against what people believe in, but it’s kind of uncomfortable in a Halal restaurant.

Basically, Tara’s opened up on the same locations as now-closed Mayura Amrit. This makes Tara’s one of the two Indian restaurants around USC. I have been here several times for quick dinner with friends in the area. They do have 10% discount for students with the student discount card. This is no way a fancy restaurant. Ambiance and décor are sort of OK, not great. They have some paintings on the wall. The service has been slow on almost every occasion — and many a times we were the only customer. Most of dishes tastes decent. I think the most authentic item on menu is Nepalese Set thali which has good value for money over the lunch special. Momos and Thukpa Sherpa’s Stew were also decent. I also had Vegetarian Tandoori Platter which I found to be very disappointing. In summary, 3 stars for food and 2 stars for service.
