The worst food. 10 bucks for nasty, never again quality and taste was terrible. I know good Mexican food, but this place was one of the worst.

This place is not much of a Taqueria as it is a Buffet. When I came in, I proceeded to go straight to the buffet to see the offerings and then scan for a table. About to sit down, a server said to wait to be seated pointing back to the door and then forcefully pulling out from a corner a sign that said to Wait to Be Seated. This is not a good start, I thought. She then showed us a table in the back near the restrooms and cashier when there were plenty of empty tables in the front. I’ve gotten on her wrong side I thought. She then asked what we were having and I said we were going to do the buffet and then she pointed saying it’s over there — obvious, I thought. «And to drink?» she asked. I said coffee and she said«It’s right there(pointing).» I proceeded to the buffet — traditional Mexican soups and stews eggs, bean and chilaquiles as well as nopales and some lettuce and fruit — no rice though. The offerings were OK, not the best Mexican renditions of these recipes — but for a buffet, they will pass. As for the coffee HORRIBLE — it has cinnamon. Cinnamon in coffee is not traditional Mexican — so I would advise that they tell customers that their is cinnamon in the coffee, had I know this, I would not have ordered it. The price per person is 8.99. My two year old niece ate some jello and for this I was charged 3.99.

Place is so good. Sad they close so early. But came j Here for the first time and had great service. Wish they where less shy. But the food was great and learned they have a delicious buffet will be coming for that in the future.

Honestly, when I saw that their buffet was $ 7.99 I expected cheap tasting food and flavors. Never have I been so wonderfully surprised. We came here yesterday afternoon and we were seated right away by the entrance. It was a cold day so sitting by the door wasn’t very pleasant but it was the only larger table available for our party. The food was absolutely delicious, hot and ready! Chilaquiles, Mole De Pollo, Taquitos de pollo, Pozole, Arroz, Frijoles, Menudo, Caldo de Pollo, Fruit, Dessert. Amazing!!! Everything had delicious flavorings, they always kept their trays full. Their coffee had a cinnamon flavoring to it and when you add brown sugar it tasted like café de olla. Needless to say I will be back again soon. My whole family enjoyed their delicious food. For 2 people with 2 drinks we payed $ 20, you can’t beat that price for this gem!

We actually stumbled upon this place while trying to find parking to eat at another restaurant down the street. I’ve never seen a Mexican food buffet before & didn’t really know what to expect. While my boyfriend complained about the lack of variety(he has big ideas of what this place COULD be), I was thoroughly impressed. The salsa verde was (I ate it alone but also put it inside the fresh warm tortillas they had & made my own tacos), the pozole was excellent, rice & beans were good, the potato taco was okay(it needed seasoning), & the chicken taquitos were perfect – warm, crunchy, & yummy. I’m definitely pleased with this place($ 7.99 for unlimited plates is a steal) & will bring my bottomless-pit-stomached friends with me.

I’ve been here before on a couple occasions, and I gotta say that today was one big disappointment. This place advertisers their buffet as its main money maker, yet we arrive at 3:35only to be advised it ends at three. Really? Ok I can deal with that. What’s shocking to me is the fact that there are trays of food being put away and the only thing offered is a la carte. What??? I see all this food and ask«can’t we purchase some of this?»(Pointing to the trays still on the buffet line) «can’t we buy this a la carte, and you serve us so that we don’t serve ourselves buffet style?» I’m starred down like a alien speaking in a foreign tongue. She finally agrees after some coaxing. The food arrives soooooo slow, mind you we are the only ones there. Oh and cold to make matters worse. The food was just piping hot on the buffet line, fifteen minutes later it’s cold. The tortillas were warm, but they came half way through the meal. At this point my hunger is making decisions for me and not my brain. Wait… wait for it… she then hands me the bill. A staggering $ 26.00 for cold, leftovers served with an attitude. I WILLNEVERRETURN… EVER. So disappointed…

Delicious, authentic Mexican food. Cocido de res, sopa de fideo, chile verde, polle en mole de pipian and ensalada de jaiva. This buffet is the real deal. Bring your mom and see if she doesn’t like it. :)

Bad customer service they were rude. Attitude just cause I was asking about prices on the food. Their buffet is now 7.99 and you can’t order to go like before. The food is good but it isn’t worth getting miss treated. Also once they wouldn’t seat us cause they reserve a table for 6 people or more even when there is no one waiting to be seated. There were four people on our party. -.-

This review is based on the buffet. The food was average at best. The service was average. The prices were average but I won’t be going back. I would rather pay more than get mediocracy. The one highlight of the buffet was the costillas in salsa verde. Delicious! I would give this place three stars for this food item however I picked up the last three chunks of meat and all that was left was sauce. They removed the pan and never added more or replaced with something else :(The chicken soup was really salty. My boyfriend said the menudo was good. The chicken legs didn’t have much flavor and were barely warm. The rice wasn’t good and the beans were okay. The arroz con leche was disappointing as it wasn’t sweet at all. It didn’t have any hint of vanilla, cinnamon, sugar or anything other than rice and a few raisins. The flan had a tough texture and tasted more like hardened jello. The service was average but I was even more disappointed because they kept running out of plates and bowls. I looked for a staff member to ask for another fork, didn’t see one and just dealt with it. I did ask for a clean bowl on my second trip and it was soaking wet. I guess they ran out of plates and were washing them. Afterward I waited several minutes at the cash register before someone poked their head out to swipe my credit card.

Yumm this place is delicious and might I add the buffet is 6.99(does not include drink). The chilAquiles are spicy and quite yummie. They also have varies of drinks. I’ve been here a couple of times and I enjoy it all the time. Have no complaints and the staff is very friendly.

Low price buffets worry me but this one had a decent spread: menudo(Juanita’s kind), mole verde, sopa de Fideo, costillitas en salsa verde(short ribs in green salsa), chilaquiles, etc. tasty. Food was tasty but warm, not hot — that worries me when it’s kicking it in a buffet. Absolutely love their tiny courtyard — they did a great job to create a respite from the adjacent 5 freeway. Overall good lunch spot.

This is my fave breakfast in ELA they have awesome selection from menudo to salad to chilaquiles, and all for 6.99, the interior is very colorful. It’s a small place but the large windows make it feel so much bigger. they have cotija cheese to top the beans or whatever else u want. fruit, desserts, potatoes, eggs, mole! yummy deliciousness

Often closed at bizzare hours. Came in Friday at noon and the place was closed. Great people, wonderful service and delicious food. My only complaint is they use the microwave a bit too much. Nice people and an East Los institution. I like to support this joint and they make fresh juice. Make sure to tell them not to add sugar.

Friendly and tasty, their buffet is a great value at $ 6.99. Given the amount of carnitas and fried potato tacos I had, I think they lost out. The free strawberry-tinged water is a nice touch too. Sadly, the price point precludes them from offering more /better food. Oh well, life goes on.

I visited here on a group excursion through LA. More like an urban expedition of the river’s history. YES we have a river in Los Angeles. YES I will get to the damn review already. First off, DON’T EATHEREIFYOUAREVEGETARIANORAVOIDINGMEAT. It was pretty gross to watch chicken parts being dumped into sauces to and fro. And not one f&%$ing non-meat choice in the whole cafeteria line except for boring spanish-style rice and the desserts. It’s a serve yourself line down the messy row and lots of hands dipping into fruits, tortillas and taco shells. It’s cheap… if that’s any consolation. The rice pudding was pretty alright, if that’s another consolation. They were out of horchata, which is not a consolation prize — it’s a total downer. I won’t be returning but I get why Boyle Heights locals eat here. It’s tucked away near the bridge with a yellow fence surrounding. It’s mighty local, speaking of, to the point where you feel like you are not in LA anymore. Hell, you’re not in America anymore. That can be fun, if that’s any consolation.

If you want some Mexican style food then you have come to the right place, if you want a buffet of Mexican style food… then… come here as well! The setting is nice and clean. There is a variety of food to order! From something as simple as sweet bread to a huge plate full of all different kinds of food. They have finger licking tacos, they have burritos that will fill your tummy in no time! My favorite thing to order are the nachos with EVERYTHING. They give you a big plate of nachos with, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, avocado, beans, your choice of meat, melted cheese over all of it and a dallop of cream. I’m sure I’m missing more ingridients, but all of this food which can fill two people is only 5 dollars! They have drinks like Jamaica, Horchata and all flavors of Jaritos ;) Want to swim in the flavors of warm home style Mexican food? Then you know what to do ;) PS Try to avoid Sunday lunch hours… good luck finding a table then.
