I seriously don’t understand the ratings for this horrible hole in the wall! The food was horrible! Hashbrowns undercooked, they charged and gave me 2 eggs and I only ordered one. My plate looked like they’ve been serving off of it since they opened and my cup was dirty. Will not be eating in this old run down looking place again.

My brother introduced me to this spot a few years back and have been coming here since. It’s a nice little diner with a friendly staff. The moco loco/loco moco and the Portuguese sausage breakfast plates are the reasons I am a returning customer. This restaurant is a hidden gem on Crenshaw! Be sure to try the chashu fried rice! ca$h only!

I had always heard good things about this place. It’s in the back of a strip mall and I assumed the food had to be great given its location and limited hours. I was wrong. The place was really clean and bright inside. That surprised me. I expected it to be more divey. It wasn’t. Not the fanciest joint, but the seats weren’t held together by duct tape either. The staff was reasonably receptive, but it is a small place so they didn’t have hundreds of tables to cover either. The prices are high for what you get. I had to scour the menu to find a breakfast for under ten dollars. I settled on bacon eggs and toast. The best part was my toast was lightly toasted. The food was just OK. And by OK I mean I wanted to go to my mom’s house and give her the 8 dollars and have her make me breakfast instead. The food was pretty bland and unforgettable. The bottom line is that there are better places around the Crenshaw district to get breakfast. I would skip this place.

What y’all forgot to mention the Spam n Eggs… since some here are reminiscing, Taks would be open all night woth the bowling alley, we would hang on the Shaw all night then if we didn’t hit up. NORMSORFATBURGER we would hit up Taks and some would go bowling in the 3,4 usually heading home by 5, those were the days

Can’t see it from the street because the joint is in the back along with parking. Next to Crenshaw Live Bar & Grill. Great dive diner. Prices cheap. Friendly service. Good food. Recommend fried chicken and Portuguese sausage and eggs.

A cool hole in the wall. Good breakfast — fast and friendly service. Parking and restaurant in back of the street.

Cash only! It’s a small neighborhood coffee shop with decent food. It has a counter and about 8 booths and an area with a table for a one large group. There are no big frills here. There’s a TV and always a paper to read. When you walk in you will see your regulars who are normally older retired men sipping their coffee and chatting about sports, or some current event. The décor is old and probably the same as when it opened years before I was born. Really the place is overdue for a makeover. But that’s not the reason you come here. If you have been a few times when you walk in one of the 3 waitress will notice you and confirm your usually. When I go in I hear«Good Morning, cocoa with extra extra whip cream?» When she comes to my table it’s «you want the usual? Pancake sandwich eggs scrambled and bacon?» I personally like that. Food: Many items sure, I can make at home but there are some things like the tommy loco, pork chops, Portuguese sausage and teriyaki dish that I would not take the time to do when I get off in the morning or even wake up and just want to have something to eat without making it myself. It’s good food, and has a nice price. Unlimited coffee refills and they have the BEST water filter in town because every time I am there I drink at least 4 cups of the water. So this place is very good in my book. There’s plenty of parking in the back. If you want fancy frills and thrills go somewhere else. But if you want the neighborhood«Cheers» treatment then this is your place.

Great little hole in the wall. They have an amazing Moco Loco, but the nice thing is they can do it over salad with the gravy, which is awesome. Nice size chicken wings, and I’m a big eater, so it’s very satisfying. It’s not a big place but cozy. If you’re in a hurry sit at the bar. Back when I used to eat pork, I used to love the Chasu. They have daily specials. I think of it as a half Japanese, half soul food.

Good inexpensive breakfast, I ordered to go and it came out really fast, I got the pancakes(buttery and tasty) sausage egg and grits(delicious) along with a vegetable omelette(decent, they could add mushrooms) and hashbrowns(just ok, I’ve had better) this is an old gem, been in the neighborhood for years Lots of regulars but I do see why they come back, this breakfast hit the spot. will be back. May dine in next time it looks cozy.

I like this place! Loco moco is no joke! Very tasty and filling don’t knock it until you’ve tried it! Great food, plus they open early like 5am but unfortunately they close at 2pm and accept cash only :( Still the food is good and definitely worth a try… LOCOMOCO!

This is quite a nice place for breakfast. The service here is good, no problems in that area. As for the food, it sure is delicious. I might have neglect this place even though I sometimes pass by here but then one day decided to try what they offer. Well, I am glad that I did. Finally adding this one on my list of go-to places for great food.

Tak’s is a great restaurant, no doubt. But also of significant importance, Tak’s is a common place where different parts of the Crenshaw Community gather to share time and space. It always has been, all the way back to the days of Holiday Bowl. God bless the ladies, like Tak’s Mom who started it and took such good care of us for so many years.

This is a very small diner like restaurant. You can sit at the counter or at a table. The entrance is located in the back just off the parking lot. I usually get my food to go. The coffee is very good and always served with a smile. I usually get the Loco Moco. It is a ground beef pattie, served over rice with gravy and eggs on top. Grilled onions to… Very good and hearty. You get a nice portion, enough for two days or 2 people. The service is great, the waitress are very attentive and sweet. They make sur you have everything you need when getting food to go. I get treated nicely. This a hidden treasure.

Always good food. Small breakfast house with 6 booths, 1 larger table and counter seating. Some lines in the morning but always worth the wait. Portuguese sausage, eggs and rice or cha shu pork eggs and rice. They make good chili too.

I like cheap. I like large food quantities and decent. It’s not going to win any Michelin restaurant awards but when the food is decent, but dirty cheap and plentiful you have a winner in my book. They’re not open for dinner but for a cheap breakfast or lunch place, this is where it’s at. Menu is huge. Try one of their signature dishes if you’re hungry and don’t mind the calories.

This is a hole in the wall. Only open for breakfast and lunch, serving American as well as some Asian dishes. A past with the ghosts of Holiday Bowl, long gone coffee shop. Fried rice with Char Sui with egg was exactly as I remembered and was thoroughly enjoyed. The Pork noodle could use some work, the broth tasted like it was made from a package of ramen. Place has not changed in years, nor does it need to. Just go and enjoy!

Hole in the wall GEM!!! I love this type of Japanese/American places that has soy sauce on the table! Ordered the Loco Moco(which they call Moco Loco) they’ve added a tad different touch to the olé gravy and it was DELISH!(Ofcourse with a little bit of soy sauce too) Definately my new go-to breakfast place from now on~! Friendly staff & Parking was good also. Yumser’s x 10

This mom-and-pop restaurant is such a gem! My boyfriend took me here for breakfast when we started dating, and we still go back every now and then for breakfast. The selection is great. I usually grab the spam and eggs or bacon and eggs. I love how they don’t skimp on the butter on your toast. We can easily grab two big plates and walk out paying well under $ 20, tip included. The service is awesome too. Everyone makes you feel at home and the environment is always so cheery.
