Best. Tacos. EVER. SERIOUSLY, this taco truck has SET THE BAR for flame-​roasted al pastor. I’ve been going to them for 4 years now and they’re VERY consistent with their food and service, and to top it off: tacos are $ 0.80 each. Yup. It’s taco Tuesday EVERYDAY at Tacos los Tapatios, without the hassle of trying to deal with parking or valet!
I believe they’re originally from Whittier, but every night at 9pm-​12am they post up on the corner of Washington Blvd and Redondo in the same parking lot as Redondo Market Deli. Just stop when you see a hunk of juicy al pastor rotating on a flame in the taco truck window!
They are not on the food truck bandwagon, so they don’t join food truck tailgate parties and don’t have their logo plastered all over social media, so I couldn’t find their name online until I remembered to just take note of it while I was there last night.
I’ve tried their chicken and carne asada tacos, but nothing beats the flavor of the al pastor. They also have lengua and tripas tacos, burritos, tortas, and quesadillas.
It takes about 7 minutes for them to prepare the food, and they set out the onions, cilantro, limes and salsa on a table in front of the truck for you. Their salsa verde is bomb-​diggity ;)
Tips:
1) Ask for grilled onions to go on top of your tacos ;)
2) Never, never take them to-​go. The little double tortilla gets soggy once you get home. Must enjoy right away, it’s the only way!
