This is a small family run restaurant with amazing food. We ordered their specialty burrito and some tacos a la cart… all of the meat selection were on point. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was very welcoming. We will be going back for more great food every time we are in this area. Highly recommended!

This place is close to my job and you can miss it if you don’t know where to look. The security bars on the windows don’t give it any curb appeal either. I ordered the Patron plate which comes with 3 tacos, red rice and beans. They are very generous with the protein which in this case was chicken. They double up on the tortillas so you will leave stuffed from those 6 tortillas alone. My issue with the chicken was that it was steamed and not grilled over a flame or a skillet. That makes a huge difference when it comes to flavor. So I was not happy with that choice. You end up with bland chicken which you have to drench with hot sauce. They didn’t even put cilantro and onions which is typically complimentary. The rice was standard as well as the beans. I prefer black beans but Mexican dishes usually come with the pinto variety. With a drink, it came out to around $ 9 which I felt was high for Taco Tuesday. Might try it again with Carne Asada or maybe the Half green, half red Burrito Mojado.

Very nice place to eat. Very clean and the owners are very polite. Great service. El cocido de res is my favorite. They know how to please their customers. I always place my order over the phone to pick it up in 10 minutes. Tacos are great too. I recomend this place.

I’m a regular here and that says a lot considering I usually crave trying new & different places. It’s my favorite Hispanic restaurant! I haven’t had much lengua tacos, but in my opinion I would say this is the best place to get them. I was told by the friendly server that they boil their lengua, which is what makes them SO tender. Their pozole is really good too. If you love sweet drinks, order their Horchata!

This place is definitely authentic. there beans are great I’m not big on rice but theirs is yummy. I’ve had the chille rellno burrito 4⁄5 and the green chille burrito 2⁄5. will definitely visit this place more since it’s close to work.

Delicious food… fast service friendly staff. And I’m not saying this because it’s owned by family, it’s all true! Lol

Found this place randomly. It is awesome. Had the El Charro Burrito with carnitas. It was delicious, and the carnitas had just the right amount of crisp. Oh, and the horchata was delicious as well. One disappointment, no chile relleno.

This place gets a solid 4 stars. I would give them 5 stars if they had updated facilities and a clean bathroom. I’ve been here four times since it’s within a walking distance from work. However, the main reason I keep coming back for more is because the food is very tasty and inexpensive. So far, I have tried the chicken tacos, El Charro burrito, and cosido(de res). Today, I had the cosido which has the authentic homemade taste, all for under 8 bucks. The portion for this is medium size(if it were bigger i’d eat it all). Just added lemon and powder pepper to make it a bit spicy. It comes with a small portion of yellow rice, and I asked for a side of ½ avocado – everything tastes better with avocado. Service at this restaurant is fast and friendly. The lady at the counter/register always greets you with a smile.

Yum! Fantastic food at a great price. The quesadillas have great ooey gooey cheese. We had plain the the kids and stuffed for the grown ups. The stuffed had a generous amount of meat plus salsa & guacamole. I had a wet chicken burrito in red sauce. It was mildly spicey, perfect for this gringa, full of chicken, rice & beans. The chicken was a nice mix of white & dark meat with no gristle. We also had a carne asada taco. So good! 2 tacos & watt was less than $ 3. 4 plates &2 drinks were $ 25. Definitely a great place for a good lunch.

The restaurant is a small walk up order style place. I ordered a meal called the 3 amigos, which came with a soft taco, a hard shell taco, a taquito, rice and beans, I believe it was 6.99. It was decent, the meat was good, not chewy and cooked well. I’ve had better and I’ve definitely had worse. I had only stopped by as I was in the area for a business meeting, but even if I lived closed by, it wasn’t good enough to return.

It’s okay. Your run of the mill, average Mexican food. I ate the chicken quesadilla and chicken nachos. Both used the same chicken, but it tasted better in the nachos. Nothing to write home to Mom about, but just enough to fill you up. If I had to choose, I’d run down another 4 blocks and eat at Xris Burgers.

Plenty of parking on the street. The food is delicious, reminds me of authentic Mexican food from back in the old country(Guadalajara). The chile verde is by far the best item on the menu. I’ve tried it for breakfast and lunch. The carne asada torta was disappointing. The meat was great, but pretty stingy and sad looking lettuce, avocado etc… But i still come back. If you go for lunch as I do, I recommend you call in, gets busy.

I ordered the #8 burrito plate, which Is essentially a wet burrito covered with a red sauce and served with a side of the quintessential rice and beans. The carne asada in the burrito was dry and overlooked. The red sauce was very good. Overall, it was an underwhelming dish. The orchata drink was good. The restaurant has an off putting, slightly perceptible order. The odor is hard to describe; I just can’t put my finger on it. The perceptibility of the odor tends to dissipate as the olfactory sense acclimates to it. Don’t expect the attendants(no waitresses?) to attend to you after you have carried your food tray to your table. The restaurant was reasonably clean. By the way, it does not open seven days a week.

The food quandary when working in the South Montebello area continues, but a little Unilocaling can keep things interesting! Checking out the Mexican eateries around my work on Unilocal yielded this 4.5 star restaurant. Is this really a 4.5 rated place? Ah ha!!! Let’s put my fellow Unilocalers to the test! Curbside parking is available, although I did notice a tiny private lot behind the business with their catering vans. Yes, they are available to cater your quinceañera! Sorry, no pictures of food this time. They are pretty standard sized burritos and the contents look like any delicious burrito you have enjoyed. Upon entering Tacos El Charro, you’ll notice that they boast a clean dining area and uncluttered counter. There are two flat panel televisions in the dining area displaying different content: one displaying your standard Spanish speaking Telemundo or ________channel; the other displaying the Communist News Network, ahem, I meant CNN. Fountain soda dispenser is left of the order counter. Salsa bar to the right. The lady taking orders was very kind. I wanted to have a good taste of what Tacos El Charro has to offer, so I ordered one of each: Lengua Burrito, Chile Verde Burrito, & Carne Asada Burrito. All with everything(Rice, beans, Onion, Cilantro, Salsa). After I mentioned my last choice, she commended me on my choices stating, «You make some excellent choices!» To which I replies, «Why, thank you!» ;o) Lengua Burrito: 4⁄5 First things first… all three burritos had very tender meats, tasty/fluffy rice, and beans that are cooked perfectly! You’d get exactly what you’d expect from a lengua burrito. No surprises here other than how tender their lengua is. Good job! Carne Asada Burrito: 4⁄5 Nice taste with a little charred flavor, just the way I like it. Not sure how that was accomplished since they cook it on a griddle. Most of the asada meat was very soft and chunky. Chile Verde: 4.5÷5 My favorite of the three. Generous chunks of pork meat swimming in green sauce sopped up by fluffy rice. I’ve had some really bad chile verde before and I can claim this to be one of the better ones! Tacos El Charro will also give you 2 cups of salsa per burrito, which you might want to ask for more because they do have very yummy green and red salsas. A final note, burritos are $ 4.25 each. That’s a fair price, but the burritos at Tacos Baja Ensenada and Los Cinco Puntos are bigger and better. I suppose I cannot complain since this place is relatively close to my work. In the famous words of the our former Governor, Arnold«The Sperminator» Schwarzenegger, «I’ll be back!»
